I AM VERY GLAD THAT I WAS OPEN TO THE MENU AT OUTSET. THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A WELL-CURATED MENU USING CAREFULLY CHOSEN INGREDIENTS. QUIET AMBIANCE WITH A DATE. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO SOAK IT UP AND ENJOY A GREAT MEAL.
Delicious biscuits and deviled eggs. Also had the quinoa bowl and it was very flavorful. Service was a good balance of attentive without hovering.
So delicious!! Get the biscuits and the fried chicken & waffles. Definitely coming back for more!!
Bummed that Willie Jane is closed. It was my favorite spot in Venice.
I will miss this place dearly
Delicious housemade authentically flaky biscuits, that could only be overshadowed by the knock-your-socks off housemade bacon jam! And to date, the JUICIEST fried chicken that came w big giant waffles drizzled in jalapeno maple sauce. The beignets were a bit too dense and yeasty for my taste but I will go back over and over until I have tasted everything on that menu - TWICE.
The food quality has gone down. I was unimpressed with the meal this time around.
Service was terrible. Waited was nice but overworked as he seemed to be the only one. We've been there before and really liked the food but not this time. It was so dark on the upper patio, we could barely see anyway. Oh well.
Service and Kitchen too slow. Food too expensive. Nice decor, pretty good food. Has good potential but don't go if you want to eat sooner than an hour after sitting down.
Saturday brunch on the outside patio was terrific. Delicious menu and very good wine or mimosa value. Very pleasant place to meet a friend or loved one at that time.
Loved the food; ambiance; and staff. Our server was a little slow.... Other than that I had a great time!
The service was painfully slow and we often felt they forgot about us, but the food was amazing!!
This was my first time to Willie Jane and I will definitely be returning and not to mention, recommending it to all my friends. Great find!
Biscuits are really worth the trip!
Bisquits were the best EVER! Love me some deviled eggs, but at $10 for 4 halves, pretty unremarkable. $6-7 maybe. $5 - All day! Shrimp and grits were as expected, very nice. Rib appetizer also very good. I had the Sea Bass special - Excellent! Great menu, great food. Would like to see more options on beer and wine by the glass. Menu is screaming for a big Zinfandel. A little pricey for the options. Come down 10-15% and this place will be here for a LONG time. We'll be back!
Food and space was spectacular! The staff were so accommodating to our group for a Saturday brunch. Definitely will be back.
There was a fly in my drink and they still charged me for it. They made us wait a very long time to bring drinks and check. The food was good, but the service was subpar.
It's a great gem....always good food. Can get busy so sometimes you may wait but all in all I always go back and I am a PICKY person. So I would recommend this to anyone just make reservations.
Great patio and wine specials for brunch! Also, the biscuits are a must.
This place is smart, well presented and friendly. Their food is unique and nicely prepared. We loved the shrimp and grits and the pork with apricots was a huge hit. Their staff are cheerful and efficient, and put up with our large party with grace and aplomb. We will be going back without the teenagers for a little alone time. It's that good.
It was WAY too hot to seat that many people on the patio and I think the restaurant should have mentioned that it would be outside when I called to confirm the reservation (and that they have no AC). The food was mediocre.

Love this place it's a Venice gem. Some people claim of bad service but honestly it gets busy cause it is a popular place and sometimes the wait staff can't attend to your need right at the moment you need it. Yet I will continue to go and love this place!!! Shrimp and grits and fried chicken and chorizo gravy is a must!!
Those warm biscuits are worth dying for and the shrimp n' grits were divine!
A friend recommended Willie Jane to me and I had high expectations based on her experience and the reviews I read on Yelp. I made reservations for brunch on a Saturday online and I had a pleasant and easy experience booking my reservation for 4 people.
The day of, my friends and I arrived 15 min early for our reservations and we were greeted kindly the moment we walked in and we were seated in less than 10 minutes--granted it was surprisingly not busy on a Saturday around noon.
Our server was so sweet and had great suggestions/was extremely knowledgeable. She checked on us a few times to see how we were doing, but wasn't overbearing (if that makes sense).
The food: Getting the biscuits IS A MUST. Get at least 2 orders to be honest. If we had known just how good those biscuits were, we wouldn't have ordered an actual brunch meal. However, if you decide to get more than the biscuits, I recommend the brisket or their farmer's breakfast.
If you decide to have a boozy brunch with your friends, they have bottomless mimosas! They also have really good cocktails--I recommend the Pineapple Express--if you're not down to go bottomless for $25 (I think)! Or if you need a wake me up with, my friends ordered their French pressed coffee--which was way more than enough to accommodate/share among 3-4 people for $12.
Also, Willie Jane is like a 10 min walk from Venice beach which is a major plus if you wanted to walk after brunch/dinner!! Overall, wonderful brunch experience and I am definitely looking forward to going back!
This place might have the best biscuits ever. Certainly in the top 5 - flaky inside, crisp outside, and super buttery. We got 4 orders of them (they come in sets of 2). Other food was good but the biscuits really stood out. Cocktails were also quite good.
Delicious food! Wonderful relaxed yet elegant hospitality.
Awesome food, excellent service, cozy atmosphere -- love this place! Highly recommend the biscuits with bacon jam, greens and shrimp and grits! Yum!
Dined here on a Wednesday evening. They were out of many things I tried to order. Had a bottle of IPA (out of draft beer of all kinds). Had the plain biscuits and honey (out of the other biscuits). Also had the grouper (out of curried oxtails). Both were good but not amazing. They were training new workers but it was very disorganized. I've had better southern food at Lucille's, which would have less expensive. I was disappointed because I had higher expectations.
Food was ok but service was horribly slow. Probably will not go back
Host placed us in a window sill seat on the Abbott Kinney sidewalk. Best seat in the house! Great cocktail specials! Food was good.
Good food and service
Brunch was delicious! The service was wonderful. The biscuits, Deviled Eggs, and Shrimp and Grits were some of the best we've had outside of New Orleans!
Best food, Best Bar, Best Service who could ask for more!
Really enjoyed the biscuits. They were crisp on the outside and moist and fluffy on the inside. The chicken and waffle was quite good. Be mindful that it is a spicy dish, but I thought the sweet and spicy combo was excellent.
Loved it - a quiet Wednesday evening out the back, cute candle lit and great food and service
Wait staff was fun and attentive, food was excellent, venue was excellent. Would absolutely go back here.
Excellent southern foods with a cosmopolitan flair. Wonderful staff and atmosphere added to a memorable experience.
Food was great, atmosphere is vibrant, the bottomless mimosa is a must have, it was so good we went two days in a row!
Some of the worst service I have ever received. One meal came after others has finished, and all came out different than requested. Great bar scene but would not recommend for dining.
