Will is never disappointing. Truly one of the cities most creative restaurant, with amazing food, with the finest attention to detail given. Service is phenomenal, and you feel like you are at home. Chef Chris is outstanding, will definitely be back again and again! Do not question going here, just go and enjoy! If gnocchi is on the menu, or duck, get it!
Went for restaurants week, food was very good but very small portions. If not for restaurant week the value would been terrible. Saving grace is that the restaurant is BYO
Amazing food .... taste and presentation. Service was A+++ and we had a gluten free diner with us and they made special treatment for him. Best meal I’ve had all year. Sweet potato soup was the best soup I have ever had. Banana pudding was to die for.
Maybe it was because it was Restaurant Week, but we and other tables felt rushed to get out of there. One table next to us was told they had to leave after being there just over an hour.
Restaurant week, in our party most ordered the short ribs that were delicious. A few ordered the escargot and said it was interesting and very different. The terrine was tasty, only comment should have had crackers served of some sort. Would highly recommend the chocolate bouchon for dessert. Will return, service staff was excellent.
Good food but insanely small portions
What an absolute treat. Food was beautiful and beyond delicious. I loved everything about this restaurant. It is a must to check out!
Wow! Great BYO, small, intimate, awesome courses, from whitefish toast appetizer to short ribs, duck and dessert. Just wow!
In my opinion, Will is the best restaurant in Philly. Chef Kearse executes a suprizing yet well-balanced dining experience with close attention to detail. The staff is friendly and helpful, and accommodations can be made to the diners dietary needs. When I commented to the chef my favorite part of the meal, he immediately gave credit to the other chef who made it. Kearse remains humble and generous while pushing the bourdaries of the dining experience as we know them. Do not miss Will.
The food and service was incredible.
The restaurant week "deal" was a complete rip off. The portions were incredibly small. A nearby table was clearly ordering from the regular menu and ate entrees more than 4X larger than the entrees included in the restaurant week deal. I left completely hungry still.
We always have a fantastic time at Will! Chef Chris and team consistently put out great dishes and provide attentive but not overbearing service. Highly recommend prix fixe and themed menu nights -- great way to try things and a good value. Pasta add on dishes are always worth it.
It was Restaurant Week so price was set for a 3 course meal. Food was very good; but no bar, it was a BYOB.
Tried during restaurant week. They gave us all 3 appetizers instead of 2. All very good. However we had to be asked to be served bread, they seemed to walk right by us every time. My short rib was fantastic, yet tiny. Gfs pasta could have been from Applebee's, guess that's her fault for ordering pasta from a french place. Dessert was also very good. Overall an ok experience, good yet tiny portions. Service was lackluster
Chris astounds as always with his creativity and attention to detail. The debate always comes down to what was the most amazing. For many of the dishes, I wouldn't even know what I'm eating except that the incredibly astute server described everything in detail. I've eaten things at Will that sound absolutely ridiculous when you hear what it's made of, yet tastes like heaven. Definitely one of South Philly's gems. 2 can eat here for around a bill. Atmosphere isn't great as it's a tiny place - feels loud and cramped - but this came to our advantage as we made friends and shared beers with the tables around us. Did I mention it's BYO and you can order an impressive selection for delivery from the shop down the street?
We had a delightful meal that was well prepared and visually interesting. We went for the Sunday Prix Fix and would recommend it for the value and innovation.
Food and service were impeccable. The restaurant is small, but quaint. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Found Will in an online article on BYOBs in Philly. Took a shot and we were not disappointed. Restaurant is small; probably less than 10 tables so it’s a little tight. The food was delicious though and the service was GREAT! They have an a la cart menu or you can choose the Chefs tasting menu for a fixed price. We chose a la cart, but next time we will be sure to try the tasting menu! It was a little noisy, but not terrible. We will return!
Just a little too over the top. Food was ok. Staff was lovely.
Chef put together an unforgettable tasting menu. It was the best duck I’ve ever had prepared.
good food and excellent service. Will be going back soon
Went there for Wednesday tasting menu. Theme was Truffle. Price $65pp++ for a 5 course menu.
While food was decent, there was no trace of truffle except in the ice cream part of the dessert. Felt a little cheated.
Apart from this, restaurant is small but nice. Service was good, but rushed. Due to the size of the place, it seems that they have to turn tables over a couple times per night. I would certainly not recommend the first few early seatings for a romantic dinner.
Food, again, was decent but nothing to really rave about...
The food was excellent, and the plates were portioned well. The lack of a dedicated server for each table was a bit distracting because that's part of the experience of eating out, you know? In addition, the time between courses was rather short and an unmet request to have a little more time before the dessert was a little frustrating. Those factors did not take away from the overall experience because the food tasted as good as a restaurant in Rittenhouse without breaking the bank as much.
While my first visit was superior, my second would still cement Will as among the best restaurants in Philadelphia. I'd say the food was a bit less interesting this time around - and that's really my primary reason for going out to a restaurant.
Food was delicious but service very inattentive.
Girlfriend and I went to Will BYOB for an early Valentine’s Day dinner. Very romantic quaint venue. Staff was the nicest and very accommodating. Food was amazing. Tartare, the truffle pasta special, snails, and duck were all delicious. The wagyu beef was a little dry, but still very good. Amazing experience. Great date spot. We will definitely be back.
This place is perfect! Highly recommend to all. Make sure to add it to your list of spots to visit.
Five friends we’re celebrating a birthday and our Mah Jong winnings. We chose Will BYOB because of its reputation. We went with the tasting menu. Every course was outstanding. We savored each bite commenting on the combination of flavors and textures. Chef Kearse is skilled in the art of food presentation. Every plate put before us was a work of art. First we reveled at the beauty of the plated food then we savored each delectable fork full. The service was outstanding too. My daughter surprised me by sneaking in the kitchen and then carrying a candle lit dessert to the table. The personal attention given to carry off such a surprise is on par with the attention we received during our meal. We will be back again soon. But we won’t wait for a special occasion.
Creative, upscale cuisine served by delightful and knowledgeable staff that aims to please. The chef and owner is a real talent. The menu is well thought out. His pairings and selections of ingredients are very unexpected that transform into a wonderful gastronomical experience. The plating and presentation are lovely and temperature appropriate. We will never tire of Will BYOB.
When we first heard about Will BYOB we were a little skeptical of another "small space - artisan" approach to food. Boy were we wrong. Will BYOB fires on all cylinders. The small plates are amazing and the space is warm and cozy. The noise level was fine but the real star is the food. Every dish we had was piping hot and also delicious. If I lived closer this would be an every week visit. Kudos to Chef Kearse and the staff for delivering an amazing night. Nice to see a local chef killing it.
This was my third, and last, time dining at Will. We went for my dates birthday this time. When we arrived the restaurant was completely empty and about 20 min later another couple comes in and where did the server try to seat them (with every single table open)? Directly next to us! Who does that? Will, apparently. Thankfully the other couple requested another table further away.
For an appetizer we had the Wild Boar and Venison Terrine which tasted like neither boar nor venison. It had no flavor whatsoever actually. For my entree I ordered the PA Brook Trout and it came out practically raw, no flakiness to the meat, no crisp skin. Just soggy skin and a cool, slimy interior that was not appealing by any means. A filet o' fish would have been better cooked than this sad, sad trout.
So eventually a table of 8 comes in and is seated on the opposite wall, behind me. It's a narrow restaurant so everyone has to squeeze in I get it but did the server really have to say "I'm sorry I'm not ask skinny as you" in a condescending voice every time she walked between me and the 8 top behind me?
In short, it was a bizarre, frustrating and expensive mistake I hope no one reading this has to repeat. It's a shame because we really liked this place previously.
Over the top ! This was our first meal at Will. Phenomenal meal! We had the privilege to experience Chef's Tasting Menu which focused around Foie Gras - every detail was on point! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
what can I say except that it was superb. This is not our first dinner at Will and everyone of them was outstanding. Needless to say we will be returning sometime soon.
Went for special monthly menu of 5 course dinner. Was so delicious and special! Excellent meal and can't wait to return!
Returned to the restaurant after last visit 4 years ago. We ordered the chef’s tasting menu. I was disappointed to discover the restaurant has slipped. Food was flavorless and menu uninspired.
The food is outstanding, the room is terrible...
The food tasted awesome and looked just as pretty. The room although small, which is not a complaint had no atmosphere and the tables and chairs, Blahh...
Amazing food. Service was so warm and welcoming. Went for friends bday and they made it extra special. Snails were deeeeelish!
Fine dining in a cozy casual setting. Small menu, everything unique and delicious. Prefer ordering from menu as opposed to 'tasting menu'.
Still very inventive ingredient combinations that result in very enjoyable dishes, while at the same time seemingly routine (a bit hard to explain). Service on this visit was a bit slow due to minimal wait staff (1 person doing an excellent job of managing a nearly full 28 seat restaurant). Still highly recommend, especially if you have not previously visited.
Fabulous meal and a BYOB! Great service, wonderful food...presented exquisitely. Always a great option!
