Wildwood Restaurant - Geneva Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I met up with some friends and we thought it was an nice place to dine. Many choices on the menu and if your a fan of fish, there are some dishes you may find interesting. As we sat down, the place was busy for a Saturday night and the service was somewhat slow. It probably took at least 15 mins to have water served to us then another 5-10 min for our waiter to come greet us and ask us for our drink order. The wives ordered a bottle of wine and my buddy and I ordered martinis. When the waiter came with the wine he had told us they had ran out of Tito’s vodka and had to get more and was apologetic for the delay. Once we got our drinks I had mentioned to the waiter that we were ready to order and said he would be right back. 15 mins later he took our order and during that time another customer had interrupted us to have him take care of him right away. I wasn’t upset but it just seemed rude since we have been waiting for so long. Once we got our order in the food was delicious where I ordered the ahi tuna steak and my wife ordered one of the fish specials( a white fish, can’t remember the name) and we were all happy with our meals but it could have been because we were so hungry. All in all this place wasn’t terrible but wasn’t great as well and wouldn’t make an effort to come back to.
I was very disappointed with my experience at Wildwood. We have three young children and do not make it out often, so we really value our time away. We went to Wildwood to celebrate my husbands birthday. Our service was very poor. Our waiter, Dave, did not go out of his way to really welcome us at all. He barely greeted us and didn’t talk about the menu or specials with us. We didn’t receive our appetizer. Our dinner arrived with one of the wrong sides and another one missing. My steak was over cooked and very disappointing. When I told the waiter my steak was over cooked he didn’t offer me another one, in fact he blamed me for getting the butterfly cut. The best part of our evening was the live trio band that we enjoyed in the bar after dinner. We spent too much money to be so unsatisfied.
My wife and I wanted to enjoy a special dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had enjoyed a meal hear about a year ago and thought this would be a nice place. We were not disappointed. The food was well prepared and the service was excellent. We were able to enjoy a quiet evening with nice conversation. The restaurant was busy for a Saturday night but was not packed so we were able to converse and hear each other easily. This is not inexpensive but certainly affordable for a special occasion. They also provided a small desert which for us was perfect to share and included coffee with the desert. We would recommend this for a nice occasion to celebrate or just have an enjoyable dinner. My wife had the Dover sole, which came with asparagus and was excellent. I had the Chicken scaloppini which was with artichoke hearts and capers and a wonderful dish. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next visit.
The French Onion soup was delicious. My husband ordered the salmon, which was described as medium rare, but it was really rare. I splurged and ordered the King Crab Legs at $50. Sadly they were severely overcooked, so much that they looked very stringy and dried out in the shells. I don't usually send food back, but the server sent the manager over. I told him not to fuss, I would share my husband's salmon. He insisted on something and I finally accepted his gracious offer of another salmon dinner. That salmon was more properly medium rare and much better than the one my husband first received. I'm sure they were very busy with New Year's Eve, but would have hoped they monitored the food preparation and quality a bit better. We started in the bar, having some wine and listening to an awesome Classically trained guitar player. We skipped dessert and went back to the bar for more music and midnight. My thanks to the manager for his service with the dried out crab. Our waitress was lovely. We will come back.
We went to Wildwood for our anniversary and had an excellent time. After a round of cocktails in the bar we then had an excellent meal in the restaurant. The steaks were excellent. The server was friendly and efficient and we were not rushed. The closest thing to a negative was the $2 charge for ice cubes on my Jameson on the rocks pre-diner cocktail.
From the friendliness of the hostess to the warm and attractive interior, the outstanding food from appetizer to dessert, and attentive service from our knowledgeable, unhurried, charming and efficient waitress, our group of five were treated to an outstanding dining experience at Wildwood! Four in the group had never dined here before, but all of us will be back!
We've had many excellent visits to Wildwood and unfortunately this one was terrible (and our first bad experience). We all ordered steaks (2 x Cowboy Rib-eye & 2 x Rib-eye) and they were definitely not to the usual standard, tough, dry etc. We did complain and got a reduction in our bill, but that wast the point. Service was excellent but the food quality definitely spoiled the occasion.
Will have to seriously consider returning!!
I was disappointed with having to send my steak back and I was not the only person other people around me he the same problem. Plus it was extra for a vegetable with my wife's fish. Niche includes vegetables with there dishes for the same price range dinner.
A group of friends got together for the Geneva Christmas walk and cane here for dinner. Because of the special day, it became very crowded and I think the wait staff was overwhelmed. We asked for separate checks and did not get them, and one of us was given an appetizer destined for a different table. OK for us, but not so much for the other folks waiting. Food was great though and the wine list was outstanding.
Our party of 6 had a great dining experience at Wildwood; I'll definitely be going back. The menu was a good mix of standard (steak, tuna) and not-so-standard (skate, escargot) choices, and provided a good number of options without being overwhelming. We each got an entree and shared several appetizers; everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The dining room was separate from the lounge - and the loud live music in the lounge - and laid out to keep the noise level down. Service was professional and attentive without being intrusive. Nice job, Wildwood!
Wildwood is our favorite go-to place in Geneva. Always good food and good service. We like to sit in the bar area and get the same great service. Friday night I had the prime rib and my wife had the seared tuna. Both were awesome. The prime rib was a very generous cut and a perfect medium rear. Tuna was barely seared just as it should be and tasted incredible. They were out of our favorite Rombauer Zinfandel, but they suggested an alternate and it was great. Can't go wrong with Wildwood.
