There are positives and negatives about this restaurant. Caesar salad with chicken is great. Fried calamari is great. Pasta dishes could be improved with serving the pasta al dente. Unfortunately, it is unseasoned and has the texture of pasta that has been soaking in the hot water for too long. Uninspired wines by the glass. Recently had their delicato pizza after a long hiatus. What used to be a very tasty pizza is now bland and unseasoned. Not sure how much longer I will continue to go to this restaurant. Don't think the new management has improved it. For the most part, the service staff is excellent. Italian restaurant serving Tunisian olive oil!
Ver nice neighborhood restaurant. Very pleasant and comfortable. Great service. Delicious food.
Was there when big group filled the restaurant. Nevertheless, they accommodated a wheelchair, provided good service (couldn't have been nicer), and great white pizza .
Overall, a good experience, particularly the staff.
I like the ambiance and location of this little restaurant and have been happy there before. This time I ordered the Santa Fe pizza, which was disappointing and not cheap.
It is always a bit unnerving to be presented with a $65 prix fixe menu unexpectedly. We should have been warned by Open Table.
Service was not on par with those prices. Big screen TV was turned on to football game. What?!?
We went to Geppetto's for Christmas Eve with family. The location was conveniently located close to the beltway. As it was in a strip mall we didn't have high expectations but it turned out to be a very nice find that I would go back to on future visits to the area. The staff was very attentive but not overly so. The food selections were a good variety of Italian dishes. The food itself was very good. Everyone in our party of 8 enjoyed their meals. They had a nice wine list (but I am not a wine drinker) and those that did drink enjoyed their selections. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice too. I loved the Geppetto theme. I recommend for a nice meal with family. It would be perfectly suitable for business as well. Enjoy!
We enjoyed another good meal here. Both ordered the Gorgonzola and pepper burger-- medium rare. It might have been more on the rare side, but was delicious. Quick service and a very low noise level made it a very welcome outing.
It may be because it is in an alley but we seem to always be able to find a table, which is great, so I don't want to spoil it.
Food and service is very good. Definitely not a swinging place but understated and quiet with a very varied menu.
Good food and large portions. Excellent quality, fairly large space, good parking.
This place was good. The atmosphere was extremely tacky, but I got sense that they're well aware of that and choose to embrace it.
An excellent surprise. We were heading to Strathmore after our meal and picked the restaurant for it's location. The food was very good and the price was right. I will come again.
The appetizer (bruschetta) was a mixed bag of good (shrimps) and bad (thick and chewy bread). I wanted a pizza and got lost in the complexity of pizza description: I selected the wrong one, a deep pizza with very thick crust on which I nearly choked...My mistake but the restaurant would be well advised to simplify the choice of pizzas. Our server took good care of us. Kind of disappointing overall.
Love this place. We go here for family get togethers
Delicious, classic Italian food. Nothing modern, but well priced, delicious food without too many frills or ambiance. Definitely a great place for a somewhat casual meal
But this time the waiter was perfunctory, never came back to offer refills on drinks, check that the food came out properly etc. Had a hard time getting his attention for the check. The restaurant was only about 2/3 full, and there were many other servers, so not sure why this guy was so inattentive. Disappointing for a place that I enjoy and with usually very nice service.
Took a client for lunch. Fantastic decor. Very rustic and old world. Nice looking bar, though we didn't stop to enjoy it. The food was very good, though I couldn't bring myself to order a $10 bow of soup. Nice place. Will definitely go back
Food bit good service regular ffffffffccfffgfgggggggffffgg you can t obligue me to write more
Love the food; second time I dined at Wildwood Italian Cuisine; told my friend that service was slow (from my previous visit). They must have heard me as they brought out the appetizers before the drinks and halfway through the appetizers announced that the entrees were ready! Felt rushed and the restaurant was not even busy.
Wildwood is always wonderful. We went for Valentine's Day and had the most amazing lamb shank and steak. All the give you to cut the steak with is a butter knife...because it's so tender that's all you need. The lamb didn't even need the knife. It fell right off the bone.
We love this place and recommend it to all our friends.
I was unable to join my dining partner until much later. She was seated at a window table and well-attended receiving very solicitous attention from our waitress. She placed my order for me once I was nearby; my arrival was further delayed, so the waitress voluntarily took my entree back and reheated it; once I arrived it was returned to our table at perfect temperature. We couldn't have been more pleased with the service we received that evening. We typically dine here before heading to Round House theater for a play, and we always enjoy the food and appreciate the quiet ambiance at this restaurant.
There was one problem. The name. We initially went to the wrong "Wildwood Restaurant!" There are two Wildwoods in the same shopping center.
I've enjoyed lunch at Geppetto's, but dinner was a disaster. We at for 15 minutes waiting for our wine, and had to flag down our waiter to get it. He had apparently never heard of proscecco or cava. Then, he asked one of our party whether he wanted french fries with his spaghetti and meatballs!! And he asked whether we wanted our check before we ate. (True, we had said we needed to leave by 7:30 for Strathmore, but we hardly expected to get our check before our food came.) Then, another long wait (for three main course salads and spaghetti??). Our experience verified what Tom Sietsma has been writing lately -- bad service can ruin a meal even when the food is okay. I'd go back again for lunch (the pizzas are really good) but not for dinner.
The eggplant parmesan was mushy and the sauce was too sharap. The mussels were good.
We contacted restaurant in advance and chef made a specially prepared vegan meal. Excellent and much appreciated.
Gipetto's used to be our "go to" restaurant for good, light Italian food. It is now not much more than fancy American with Italian names on the menu. The veal piccata sauce tasted like canned soup was poured over top, the chicken and eggplant Parmesan war void of any spice, and the bread was without taste. Aside from all that, the pizza for the kids looked tasty, but that was at another table. Gipetto also needs to work on their lighting. We felt like the overhead halogen spots were more for a store window or display rack, but too harsh and "in your face" for a cozy restaurant. Where is my old friend Gipetto?
Had another excellent dinner at Geppetto's. Have been dining here since 2002. Eggplant parm was perfect and service was great. The class of 1963 from Walter Johnson High School was having a 50th reunion in the back, with happy sounds of laughter and joy.
Mariana that was watery, plain uninspiring bread with butter, slow and inattentive service, and no pleasantries such as "thank you." All in all, an absolute disappointment. #lostcustomer
one of our party of 4 ordered a dish that is to be served hot and it was cold
The summer lunch salads are terrific. My friend had the crab tower and I had the lobster tail salad. Both were delicious and beautifully presented.
What I do not understand is why they would close the kitchen with guests still eating dinner. We wefe told we could not order dessert because the kitchen was closed.
Although the food was good, we were seated in a far corner (although all the tables in the middle of the restaurant were unoccupied). We were placed there & then forgotten about by the wait staff...such a shame!
overpriced, not very tasty food. Desserts, however, were great
We tried Geppetto's since we didn't have a reservation anywhere on a Sat night. It was a nice surprise. The food was good; it was a solid meal, but not unbelievably delicious. We sat outside and I enjoyed that on a nice warm June evening. They had menus with crayons for my 3 year old, so she was happy. I would definitely go back since the overall experience was a pleasure. I hear the pizza is very good, so maybe we will try that next time.
Our experience was awful from the insulting waitress that felt like she needed to explain what a vegetable was, to the limited drink menu and horrible food (well, the appetizers were good). I hadn't been to Geppetto in almost 20 years, so I was excited when I found this location in Bethesda, but it was a terrible experience and I was very disappointed. The waitress also offered me a complimentary cup of coffee to make up for the terrible meal -__- When I told her that I didn't want the coffee, but would have a beer (because I definitely needed a drink after this experience) she was sure to make it clear that the beer wouldn't be free. Enough said.
I let them know when I made the reservation that we had 8 pm tickets for Strathmore, and they were very accommodating. The pizza was excellent (lots of anchovies) but the salad was only mediocre. Very pretty place. Easy parking.
ordered the Caesar salad many times and it was always great. decided to try it with the tuna, which seemed to puzzle the waitress and showed it to her on the menu, BIG mistake. the pizza was great. but to mess up a salad? I will be back for the pizza.
This small but lovely gem feels like a neighborhood restaurant but is quite continental and sophisticated. Geppetto's is just the place for a super pizza, great eggplant parmesan, salads, sandwiches or more elegant dishes. The wine is very good though a bit pricey but the food is moderately priced and truly a bargain for the great quality of all their dishes.
We were very dissatisfied with our meal. The vegetarian lasagna tasted like frozen food. We were shocked when we received the bill for the quality that we received. There are too many fabulous restaurants in this area so I would not go back there.
Our server was professional and attentive. Many thanks!
Excellent service. Nice white table cloth small Italian Restaurant. Great for lunch.
