Food was good, not great. Tough steak and rubbery duck. Service was bad, no attentiveness or warmth from either person working. For the price, not at all worth it
We used to go to wildflower all the time. It was classy, exciting with amazing food. I used to order a tenderloin blue rare, and it was cooked to perfection. The wine selection was amazing. The service was second to none.
We went back for Valentines day. The restaurant was not busy. I asked to sit at a larger table and i was told we could as long as we leave by 7. When we left at 7, there was plenty of room in the restaurant.
Service: there was one manager, one server, one chef, and one sous chef. Our service was not very good. The menus we received were paper with wine stains on them.
Food:Wildflower used to serve fresh baked bread. The bread we had was stale. I ordered a ribeye steak. The meat was tough and i did not finish it. The sever did not ask me why i did not finish it.
Unfortunately, the wildflower restaurant is a far cry from what it used to be.
My girlfriend and I went here for Valentines Day, as we were staying in the hotel that is connected to Wildflower Grill. We had researched the menu and were looking forward to trying what they had to offer. However, when we got there, they had a Valentines menu that was very limited and did not include any of the options we had in mind. I was not made aware of this when i had booked my reservation. The value was poor for what we paid and the service was far below what we expected. I don’t think we’ll be back to try the rest of the menu.
We came on a Thursday evening for date night and my bf and I both had the bison steak dinner and it was absolutely delicious and a generous portion, compliments to the Chef. Overall the place was good not great, service quality was okay - the servers were pleasant and very accommodating to requests, but just took a long time to get seated, or get offered drinks or refills. Note that parking is at your own cost and not complimentary like other downtown restaurants, but surely the food is worth the visit for a special evening/celebration. Price point we thought was reasonable, affordable, and not overpriced for the quality of food they offer. We will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.
Food was good but have honestly had better food for far less in many other restaurants around the city. Our server was mediocre, didn't check in with us barely spoke to us to be honest. Another server that wasn't assigned to our table was more attentive and friendly towards us than our own.
All four of us had a great meal and really enjoyed our experience. The server was great and the restaurant was nice and quiet that night.
the restaurant furniture is looking run down; the food was good; but not outstanding...
The food was okay, we shared some appetizers and it was a hit or miss. Service was okay, waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed with the amount of tables (but it didn’t look that busy...). The wine was very nice and there is a decent selection from all over the world.
Great experience will definitely be back
My wife and I hadn’t been to Wildflower for quite some time and booked dinner there as we were staying at the adjoining hotel. We don’t know when the current owners took over but we were pleased to find that the food was excellent. The menu was short but varied, which supports the philosophy of doing only a few things but do them well. Dinner was so good we went back the next evening. As it happened we were the last customers at the end of the night. Our waiter Robert, who is also an owner, sat down and had a delightful conversation with us in order to get our opinions on the scotch list. It turns out his plan is to revamp the drinks menu and turn the restaurant into a go-to place for select spirits and wine. We look forward to returning there soon to see how the evolution is going.
Food was extremely salty and the server was a little pushy
Wonderful meal and excellent attention from our waiter. Clean and convenient restrooms. Close to LRT station.
Loved the food! Absolutely delicious. The schnitzel with traditional German spaetzle were a taste of home. Perfect for a work lunch.
From the moment we walked in something was wrong with our reservation, I had changed it to 5 people but they still had 2 written down. Our first round of drinks came fast although It took our server around 30-40 minutes to take our food order, we wanted to leave but it was NYE and chances of getting into another restaurant would be tough. It was not busy at all at this restaurant, had it of been busy I would never write this review as I’m a server and I fully understand. The Food bells were going off but no one was going to grab the food so it was taking sometime to get to the customers. My drink had no alcohol in it, I sent it back and again it came back with none in it. I had to order a shot and pour it in myself. The food tasted great although it sat for quite some time before coming to our table.
I’ve heard such great things about this restaurant so it was really a let down especially NYE having the experience we did.
New Year’s Eve. It was a nice night out.
The food was delicious as always.
The service was weird: it was New Year’s Eve, which meant that a reservation was an absolute must. That was expected and fine. But unbeknownst to us, there was a set menu for the night. Which tripled the expected cost of our meal. We had checked the website; there was no mention of it, and when we asked the server about it, he didn’t seem to care much and said that no it wasn’t on the website. Also the coat rack should be more accessible, the debit machine should take tap, and the doors should be open a little bit early. We were the first reservation of the night, but were still surprised to be left standing outside in the cold waiting for our reservation time.
It’s a great place. One of my favourites in the city. The food and drinks are phenomenal and the service is top notch.
Delicious food and great service, seating and ambiance is dated but will return for more cocktails and food!! Creative menu that offers many flavour options.
An enjoyable meal. The lunch menu was different from usual, I'm not sure if that's a temporary change or not, but it was still very good. I might have like a larger portion size for the entree, but I suspect that for most people, the entree would be an appropriate size. There was large party that was quite noisy, usually it is much quieter, which was unfortunate, but unavoidable, particularly given the season.
The server was also the bartender and host, he was friendly but we all questioned if we got the right cocktails as they were all slightly off. So overall cocktails were slight disapointment . food was incredible and on time however one dinner order was wrong, but she ate the plate anyways. Server came back to our table many times for water and to check on us.
Overall quality has greatly diminished. Explicitly stated there was a carrot allergy and was served carrots! Oddly served sorbet in a warmed dish. Poor service. No lunch specials or drink specials.
Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Edmonton. The food is unbelievable!
Great place, tasty, fresh food. What else you need! Have been coming here for a few years now.
Great service by Robert. We found the restaurant a bit chilly. Lunch a bit pricey, but very good. Shortrib was exceptional burger good. Will return for certain.
Service was slow due to them being down one server. Food was delicious and different from the usual daily fare. Would recommend but hoping service would be better next time.
great food, creative menu but a bit pricey.
We all had a burger which was good, but it was smaller than average and for $19.00. Plus it was very chilly and we were not sitting by the door. I went several years ago for dinner and it was very good and I found the price in line with the ambiance. It was a business lunch which is convenient as I work in the area, but I do not think we will be back.
Food took forever. Lunch should be faster
Although the food was great, the experience was meh.
One of the servers had an argument with a kitchen staff member, which included some swear words, that could be heard from our table at the front of the restaurant. Unprofessional.
It also seemed a little understaffed the evening we went. The one (of two) gentlemen seen seemed to be the host, server, and bartender for all the tables.
The food service/timeliness also seemed a little slow, but that could be because of the lack of staffing.
The plating/presentation could use some work as well. Although the food was filling, the way it was presented looked as though you were hardly being served much food at all.
I have been to the wildflower grill 3 times now, and was quite surprised at this poor experience as compared to my first two times.
The host did advise us there was a management change so this might be the reasoning.
The food was very good and service was good at our lunch. The washroom was not clean however and overall the restaurant needs some maintenance. This is surprising since the Wild Fire is located in a hotel and one would think the washrooms in particular would be regularly cleaned. The ring around the toilet in the smaller cubicle looked like it had been there a very long time. Going into a dirty bathroom takes the enjoyment out of a meal you just had. I have always considered the Wild Fiire to be an upscale restaurant with great design, ambience, service and exceptional food. They need to improve.
I came here years ago and it was great, but it's changed for the worse. The host wasn't friendly (although our server was), the leather booth was cracked and torn, our menus were slightly crumpled, one of the dishes listed wasn't available, there was no music playing, no daily feature on offer (on a Saturday), they didn't have the wine we ordered, and the portion of meat in one of the meals was very small. Food was good, but not for the price, and a lot of little things taken together left me unimpressed.
The restaurant is tired, needs a redo, the seats in the booth were cracked and peeling, food very nice, bison excellent, halibut too well done, nice wine list. Have not visited in awhile, likely won’t go back.
Server did not explain food selection on the menu. When person goes to fancy dining place , it is expected that server really know the food choices on the menu and explains it
Second time dining here. First time food was excellent. This time our server was awful. Food was very average. Restaurant almost empty but put another group right beside us. Overall not a good experience. Especially for the expense.
Two decent ($160/bottle) bottles of wine. Server poured from second bottle into partially full glasses and argued with us about doing it. For that cost taste in new glass is expected. Poor server
I have heard great things about the Wildflower Grill but I was actually disappointed. Three of us went out for a Girls Night and this was not the ambiance I was expecting. There was no background music on at all so the restaurant was very quiet. The decor was quiet dated and the banquette we sat at had tattered cushions. The service was average.
The appetizers and dessert were great. The entrees were not very good. Both my friend and I ordered the halibut and it was so over cooked and dry. For $36 I expect my halibut to be prepared correctly. My Moscow Mule was average. For $12 I would have expected it to be in a copper mule mug.
I thought it was a little strange that they shut the restaurant down at 9pm?!?!?
I love being able occasionally take a break from work and enjoy a relaxing meal at one of downtown Edmonton's restaurants. I haven't tried all the downtown restaurants yet, but so far, the Wildflower grill is one of my favourites. The food is memorable, and the atmosphere and service make it a relaxing and enjoyable meal.
Limited choice of menu and strange selections. Was once a great place really changed. Hardly anyone there.
Great food. Excellent service
Very good meal. Service excellent. Never disappointed.
The Wildflower is always dependable. Creative menu items. Well presented. And of course tasty!
