Wildfish Seafood Grille - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
This is a restaurant we will NEVER return to. Started off with the server telling us about the special fish of the evening (Restaurant Week Menu). He described Barramundi -a sea bass as the R.W. Chef's Seasonal Fish, which sounded wonderful. Guess what, the server described the wrong Seasonal Fish special. The Chef's Seasonal fish was not Barramundi but swordfish. Very disappointing and the entire meal went downhill from there. The Caesar salad dressing was tasteless, the salmon, I ordered, rather than the Chef's Seasonal Fish, was ordinary without much flavor and the dessert, Bananas Foster Butter Cake (must have been a bargain for restaurants this week, because it was offered at so many restaurants, had only 3 banana slices.
Restaurant Week is an opportunity for each restaurant which participates to shine and offer a great meal at a reasonable price so diners will return. The experience at WildFish was definitely not impressive. The food was overpriced for the quality. A 30 minute drive for a very disappointing meal. There were 6 diners in our group and no one felt they had an outstanding or even a good meal. We will never go back.
Wildfish is pretty much solid, all the way around. Not too many points to detract for anything. Service, ambience, food quality--all solid. Extraordinary? Not really...but solid. Probably a bit overpriced for the quality level. It's a good spot for happy hour with a large amount of social bar seating and good drink/snack specials. We go here when we're uninspired by other options and we just want a good, solid night out.
We celebrated our 20 year anniversary and everything was awesome from start to finish. There was a card placed on the table in the middle of rose petals signed by every staff member congratulating us when we walked in! Our server Eric was phenomenal. He was very attentive, polite and pleasant. The rest of the staff from the hostess to the waiter's assistants to the manager were excellent. We ordered 4 filets(we brought our 2 teenage children) and the seafood tower as our main course (our own version of surf and turf). The steaks were amazingly flavorful and tender... perfect mediums. The seafood tower was super fresh and plentiful. The shrimp were out of this world! The salads and corn side were just as impressive. Finally they made us a Godiva chocolate cake complimentary for our anniversary and it certainly didn't disappoint. Overall a perfect meal served by excellent wait staff!! Thanks!
My husband is still talking about how great the food was. It was so perfect! Not rushed. We ordered a bottle of wine and the waiter let us enjoy a glass before we ordered. We each ordered the specials and I can't tell you how fantastic it was! Even dessert was incredible. We will go back very soon. I can hardly wait!
Fabulous! Birthday celebraation and as always food was spectacular as well as service.
Attention received was outstanding as was the food. Wonderful halibut and sole as well as brussel sprouts, salads and dessert.
Never had anything but outstanding experience at Wildfish and Eddie V's.
We found Wildfish and made reservation hoping for good Fish. We were extremely impressed Sea Bass fresh and sauce was light beautiful accent to Sea Bass. Others had Scallops, Scallops were tender and fresh. Crab fried rice was incredible with both entrees as well as Brussels sprouts. Our waiter was attentive and anticipated our every need.
Can't wait to tell friends about this place
Our waiter, Kevin, was helpful in making our oyster selection. He was attentive, witty and professional. The entrees were delicious to the point that my friend said it was the best prime rib she had ever enjoyed. Myself, I thank the bartender, Dyrene?, who accepted my challenge to make as close to an Arnold Palmer matini as he could without the bar having tea infused vodka. Your staff rounded out the night by agreeing to take our picture just outside the front entrance. Thanks to all. I will definately recommend Wildfish to others as well as pleasure myself with future visits.
The Scallops(Georges Banks) were the best we;ve ever tasted and we lived in the Northeast for 45 years. The Sashimi appetizer while small was so delicate and flavorful as to equal the finest Sushi Restaurants in Manhattan and San Francisco. Great and friendly service.
Good food and great service. The salad (wild mushroom and arugula) which is normally a standout left a little to be desired in that they skimped on the mushrooms but still a great flavorful salad and definitely something to try. You must ordered sides as the fish while nicely prepared is lonely and expensive by itself so order sides. The Brussel sprouts were great as were the French fries. The filet (12 oz) was simply the best I've had. I seldom order filet preferring the NY cut for flavor and texture but the filet was perfectly cooked, nicely flavored and butter knife tender - fantastic!
The staff was super friendly, attentive and expert in their care. We will go back!
I wish they offered more menu options without Asian inspired flavors. I much prefer herbs and citrus with my meals. The prices seem a little elevated for the value, though they do have excellent quality seafood. This was our second visit and our server (Charlie) this time was not as impressive. He seemed to be rushing us, asking if we wanted to go ahead and place our order to expedite things when he initially came by to get our drink order- very off putting. Then the middle of our visit was good service, then again slacked off at the end when he disappeared for about 15min while we were trying to pay the bill. I felt like I needed to find the manager, I mean talk about obnoxious when you're trying to leave.
I took my wife here for our five year wedding anniversary. I made a special request to have a bottle of champagne awaiting our arrival at our table. They went up and beyond my expectations! There were rose petals all over our table along with a card that everyone in the restaurant signed wishing us a happy anniversary. The food and service was excellent as well! I would recommend this restaurant without a doubt!
Food is always delicious but unfortunately the service this time was very disappointing. We were kept waiting for a long period of time before our drink order was taken & then again for our food. Our waiter didn't know much about the menu, wine or cocktails and when asked for a recommendation he said "I wouldn't know I don't drink". But he didn't offer to get assistance. We ourselves asked another waiter who was more helpful
Meh... The Server kept interrupting, not even feigning an attempt to request permission to interrupt. I'm not sure what it is these days that Servers aren't trained to NEVER interrupt the Guest. Certainly as a Guest I'll be aware of my Server's approach and 'invite him/her in' by stopping my conversation, too... it's not a one-way street here (don't want anyone thinking me unreasonable).
The food was just okay. Friend had the 'touted by the Server' Apple Salad she did not like (she declined to return it even though I promised I'd make it 'smoov, sof 'n silky' with the Server... she's weird like that). My Lobster Bisque was tasty, but in the morning I 'paid the price'. My friend's Salmon was indeed good, as were my Scallops (very well prepared actually). The entrees made me want to give a higher rating on the food, but the Apps, and my ensuing following morning as a result of my App made that impossible.
At this price point, everything should be pretty awesome you know? It wasn't and I wouldn't go back. If a friend wanted to meet there, I'd talk 'em out of it (I hope). If someone took me there, I'd smile and nod and be careful about what I selected for my eats.
Lastly (okay, now I sound whiney), the Restaurant called me, left me a Vmail asking me to call back and confirm the Reservation that I had made on OpenTable. WHY DO I HAVE TO CALL THEM BACK?!?! I called back to confirm. Later I called again for Parking tips and the different Hostess wanted to confirm AGAIN. Funny thing was... I WASN'T CONFIRMED! I mean they were cool about it, but I had confirmed about 45m prior with another Hostess (that I named on the phone with them). Who is this Restaurant here for? Them? Or their Guests? I suggest when you call me to confirm, if you have to leave a VM, it'd be something like 'hey, gotcha' down tonite, if this is not accurate, please let us know'. Funny thing is... the Restaurant was like 40-50% full that night... sigh.
I was surprised how wonderful the fish was! I was all set for a corporate chain but wild fish had some wonderful caring preparations and fresh fish ! I was worried elaborate sauces would mask bad fish but they made great simple broiled fish of all their fishes if one wanted this ! What a nice surprise !
Great tasting seafood in the desert! They have the BEST Crab cakes!!!! If you don't eat anything else, make sure you get the crab cakes. Almost all crab! I had the Sole (wonderful) and my husband had the grouper! Delicious! This is a trendy open atmosphere restaurant in the heart of Scottsdale. We have never been disappointed with the fish. Lots of wines to chose from....and other cocktails. Martinis are great!
Everything was alacart. Twin lobster tails were $90. This is not outrageous, but the quality of the tails were mediocre. Filet and tail combo was also about $85. The filet was undercooked (ordered medium-rare). To compare to other restaurants in the area: Don and Charlies has much better steak, and Pappadeaux has better lobster.
I will say the service was outstanding.
