Wildfish Seafood Grille - Newport Beach Ratings and Reviews
We have compared this restaurant to many other fine dining establishments in the area and they are heads above most of the rest. The food is always on time and hot when served, and always delicious. The service is wonderful, we love Matt! Highly recommend this for evening dining with good friends.
We celebrated my birthday with a large party and they were exceptional! Everyone got their entree at the same time and everything was correct. The portions are fairly large and we definitely did not need dessert. They graciously gave us 2 complimentary desserts for the celebration and they were superb. The banana's foster was a favorite.
The servers were noteworthy. Very professional.
Not sure where to begin my wife and i frequent this place often i even wrote a review a while ago on how much better wildfish is than mastros. not sure where wild fish has dropped the ball my recent trip there was dec 31 ny eve my wife and i had dinner there i ordered a filet and my wife ordered a lemon sole with a couple of side dishes and appetizers.we received our appetizers and later the food was brought out i never got a steak knife to cut my steak trying to get the attention of our waitress seemed impossible. my wife had to stand up and flag her down for a knife never did she ask if we wanted another drink or even if everything was ok. after i cut through my steak i took a bite of it and it was chewy and full of gristle not at all what im used to eating here by then i was pist and disappointed i eventually flag down the waitress and told her to take the steak back and remove it from my bill and to please get the manager so than i can speak with him or her manager never came i paid my bill and left everything we ordered on the table. again not at all what im used to i have friends comming down from new york this month and had plans on taking them there i will have to find somewhere else to take them very disappointed.
We had our New Year’s Eve meal here. As a starter we shared the fried Calamari which was excellent and is only lightly fried. The portion size is enough for two people. My wife had the scallops for her entree while I had the 8oz filet. Both of us were very pleased with our choices. We had the Brussels sprouts as a side dish and they were prepared perfectly. For desert we went with the pineapple upside down cake which, in our opinion, is their signature desert! You will love it!!
Our only complaint is that we were seated in a booth in the lounge area closest to the bar which is usually very active. Therefore, the noise level and commotion was not conducive to easy conversation. This could have resulted since the booths in that area are designed for two people and it was New Year’s Eve.
Wildfish is one of our favorites and has some of the best seafood in all of Orange County. We had a salad of crab and shrimp, the lobster bisque and for entrees the ahi and the sole. All were well prepared. Our server, Manny was one of the best we've had. Knowledgeable of wines and the menu and personable.
What is it about Newport Beach - where all the higher-end restaurants seem like 'singles bars'? This is supposed to be a high-end seafood restaurant. But instead, it's more like a 'high-end singles bar'. Well, at least that's the perceived atmoshere for me. The food is 'above average'. The wine list is extensive, but pricey. The wait staff is very attentive. I think they try to make up for the shortcomings of the restaurant.
Had 7:15 pm reservations, got there 15 minutes early and were seated almost immediately. Food was very good and the service was outstanding. Noise level, considering that there was a group sitting next to us, wasn't too bad. We were able to carry on a conversation in a normal tone. Will definitely be back to Wildfish.
