Wildfish - Arlington Heights Ratings and Reviews
We tried many items on the menu and shared. The cocktails were great and everything we tried was delish. We had a tuna roll with a shrimp standing on guacamole that was memorable. Golden shrimp app was very good. Yellowtail tuna sashimi with jalapeño and ponzu citrus also very good.
Food is tasty, service is average and ambience is ok. I have eaten here several times and the staff is always very friendly. The food is good, nothing to write home about, but no complaints. I will eat here again and do recommend it. More of an everyday kind of place rather than a special occasion place.
As always we had a wonderful meal with great service and a genuinely appreciative staff. Had the Crazy Chicago will and I was not crazy about that one, but the bluefin sampler with Mango Ponzu was outstanding. So was the Crazy sexy dragon. Now if they would just bring back the Thai Crunch...
Restaurant was understaffed for a holiday Monday. Only had two waiteresses and one was serving as bartender as well. Plus a "manager" that stood around and talked on the cell phone and didn't help the staff when they were slammed. Had to wait a long time for service, the only reason we got served was because we were directly across from the service/register station and we could flag the waitress down. They were very frugal with the wasabi and had to ask twice for extra, by the time we received the wasabi we were just about done with all our food. Had to wait 30 minutes for two rolls and were almost late for our movie. Bluefish in Park Ridge is much better, service and food.
Wildfish is tucked away in downtown Arlington Heights near the movie theater. They have been a favorite for us for a long time and we need to go there more often! It may be crazy outside, but once you step over the threshold into Wildfish you'll feel yourself relax in the calm interior. This time - maybe for the first time - neither of us had sushi. My husband had a bento box and I had sesame crusted seared tuna - both were excellent. Service was, as always, wonderful.
Checked in on time at 6pm early enough to be out in time for 7:30 Theater reservation. Order was taken at 6:20 then it took 15 minutes to bring the soup. They seemed to have forgotten about us after that even though we were in the front of the restaurant and it wasn't very busy. At 6:45 pm we reminded them we needed to leave in 35 minutes. Took them 5 more minutes to bring the salad. At 7 we asked where our food was and asked for a manager. At 7:06 they brought out 3 of the 5 entrees, not the sushi and also not the halibut which the waitress said would take an extra 5 minutes. That came at 7:15. The halibut was way over cooked. The manager apologized and gave us sushimi to take home but we had no way to refrigerate raw fish for the three hours we would be at the theater. We ended up not eating the halibut and running out the restaurant with minutes to spare for the show. No reduction to the bill.
Even though we've eaten here before, we won't be going back.
The sushi that we ordered was excellent. Our server was slow and not that helpful. We ordered the dessert that looked good as pictured on the menu. When it was delivered it had freezer burn crystals from this premade dessert. When we mentioned this the waitress said it was the one we ordered and it was ok.
