Wildfire Steakhouse North York Ratings and Reviews
The steaks (top cut sirloin) were somewhat tough (not tender), vegetables OK, service pleasant but not sufficiently attentive (waiters forgot things & were difficult to access when we needed service - nor was the bill brought when I told them that I needed to get to my car to avoid a parking ticket - nor were the bills split though I was told at the outset that this was not a problem, thereby delaying my departure, etc..) But waiters were pleasant & the restaurant is very attractive, spacious, & not too noisy. In summary, a little too expensive for what we received - should have gone to The Keg (better steaks & better value.)
The overall experience was decent. The food was good, though the value might be a bit low, for those who care. The food selection was good. There should be something for everyone at this place. Our party (of 5) just felt that the service was a bit too slow. We were there for 3 hours, but it really should have been 2 or so. I am glad I liked the company.
I won't be rushing back but I am glad I tried it.
I booked Wildfire, having not previously been there. My family and I were truly impressed with how we were taken care of all the way through, from booking to service to payment. Thanks for hosting a memorable evening as we celebrated my parent's 50th wedding anniversary.
We are semi-regulars at this restaurant for lunch and have always enjoyed it -- good food, very good service. We decided to try dinner this time -- not so good. Perhaps we were unlucky re the table we were seated at, as the server assigned to this table had some problems. He rushed around frantically giving the impression of being extremely busy; however, the other servers did not do this -- they seemed to be able to handle everything smoothly. The behavior of our server made us quite uncomfortable. We waited 40 minutes before we had to finally ask him to take our order and when we did, he said 'Please wait a moment'! When we finally put in our order, we expected a bread basket as the other tables all had bread. We had ordered glasses of wine, so needed something so that we weren't drinking on empty stomachs. We were told that bread was on request only, which we hadn't been told and, of course, the appetizers arrived before the bread! Bit of a fiasco.
The crab cakes were overcooked, my husband had to send back his French Onion soup as the soup was cold and the cheese congealed on the top. The steaks were OK, although we had to leave some inedible fat. The baked potato was lukewarm. I assume the cold food was the fault of the server not picking up our order in time. Not well coordinated.
I think that we will stick to lunch at this restaurant from now on.
We had a lovely dinner - steak of course. We had two elderly guests and the staff met us outside, without asking, to assist us from car to table (and back again!). Steaks cooked just as we ordered, lovely sides, tasty soup of the day. Fabulous wine selection at all price points. Great art - and it's for sale.
Wildfire does such a great job of with service, great food and atmosphere!! Highly recommend - you will not be disappointed. The only feedback I have is that the polenta fries would have been nicely complimented with a spicy tomato sauce or even a chipoltle sauce. Small change that would make this dish exceptional.
The restaurant exceeded our expectations. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. The steaks were grilled to our exact specifications. Parking is available on the adjacent street in the evenings and it is free. Excellent value, highly recommended.
We had our anniversary dinner at Wildfire last week. The food, service, and ambiance were all good. However to celebrate the event they brought a plate with 2 little chocolates and a sparkler, instead of a real dessert.
Most restaurants bring a slice of cake with a sparkler. With the prices they charge, surely they can afford to be more generous than that for an anniversary celebration if they want those customers to return.
Great evening out!! We were celebrating my husbands birthday and I had mentioned it to them when I made the reservation. As we get older we just want to acknowledge our birthdays, not have some one sing or wear a weird hat, etc. This acknowledgement was perfect! Done with class, my husbands dessert was on a plate written in chocolate that said Happy Birthday and a candle in the dessert. He also received a card from the manager, congratulating him on this honour. Nice, quiet, classy, spot on. Well done, Wildfire, Well done! Thank you.
Fell short of expectations on all dimensions. The food was over seasoned, the AC was blasting, and the service was distracted. Maybe this was a result of excess traffic due to restaurant week? Perhaps it was a mistake that we did not choose the price fixe menu?
Eventhough we waited beyond our reservation time because of the volume of guests, we were well served once seated. The wide variety of wines in their collection is impressive. The wine we chose completely complimented our meal. Our appetizers was a good preview of what the entire would be and we were not disappointed. Dessert rounded off the evening perfectly.
First time horrible experience
Although we had a reservation, it took them 35 min to sit us. It was just two of us and they were sitting groups of four. Funny enough they gave us a table for four people after all. Then it took them 30 min to bring our order. It was so cold inside, a few times we asked them to adjust the air condition but they didn't.
Then as we were leaving, the floor was so greasy that my wife slipped and fell on the floor. None of the staff helped nor cared at all. They just looked and went away.
And their food is pricey for no reason. It wasn't anything special.
A few friends went here for Summerlicous. Our server was new and quite nervous, but tried his best to make us enjoy our experience. The only thing about him the I didn't like is get kept calling us "girls", which felt a bit belittling (we're in our 30's).
Anyway, the food was great. We each order a different appetizer (tenderloin skewers, garlic shrimp, and calamari) and they were the highlight of the meal. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and the calamari was EXCELLENT - not rubbery or overcooked at all. Kudos to them for that! For our entrees we each ordered the filet mignon - the serving was quite small and I ordered my steak rare since it's usually overcooked, so when it came out medium rare I was happy. My friend ordered hers medium-well and it was pink throughout, so just be aware of that when ordering. For dessert two of us tried the NY cheesecake (amazing) and one had the chocolate cake (bland and not chocolatey).
Overall I'd certainly go back again :)
We went for a late lunch during Summerlicious. The food was excellent. Good value for the money. I would certainly return with my husband or friends for a special occassion. The only criticism I have was that we were not asked if we would like coffee or tea with our desert. I know it was summerlicious, so our desert had been ordered up front. It would have been nice to have been asked before delivering desert. (We did order wine with our meal so an additional cost was not the issue. The service was prompt.
With a name like Wildfire it has a contradictory menu. The Chicken and ribs I decided on were only overpriced and non memorable. Nothing make you wAnt to comeback. Time for owners to evaluate name of restaurant and how it deals with reality.
There are certainly better steak houses even the Keg.
Horrible experience from beginning to end. Had been there once before for a Winterlicious meal which my companion and I both found mediocre at best. The main course which I was going to order was not available! On a limited Winterlicious menu how can one of the dishes not be available!?
This time, I was given a dinner menu at lunchtime. Then when I was asked if I wanted to be seated by the window for the view, I was not informed that it was very, very warm sitting by the window. After an extremely long delay, a server finally appeared and exchanged my menu and brought some water. I ordered a glass of wine. It took 10 minutes for my glass of wine to arrive. I ordered my meal...garlic shrimp and roast beef dip (and a different glass of wine with my main). I prepare garlic shrimp much tastier and much more appealing! While I was eating my appetizer, my main came! Then, no wine, until I could flag down someone to bring it. The main was horrid in every respect...tasteless dip; very poor quality beef, soggy fries. When the wine finally arrived it was in a dirty glass. I don't mind my own lipstick on a glass; but definitely don't want someone else's!! Throughout my meal (I was near the hostess desk), the hostess would ask people if they had a reservation as they arrived. If they didn't, she would say, each and every time, "Oh you're walk-ins", sounding as if their patronage was not as good as those with reservations! Had to flag down someone for my bill as well. A horrible experience. I will never return!
Handicapped access is not available here.
They advertise accesssibility, but there is a step at the front door.
The washrooms are a flight downstairs , so they are not accessible for the handicapped.
I use a Walker and I could manage to get into the restaurant barely.
The listing for Summerlicious says they are accessible.
This is false advertising.
