Wildfire - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
Recently visited WildFire to celebrate my wife's birthday. We've dined here before and knew the food and service were very good. This visit did not disappoint. The wait staff was excellent. They were courteous, personable, and attentive without being interruptive to our conversation. Breads were tasty, especially the corn bread. Our entrees were duck, which was the nightly special, and skirt steak. Both were very tasty and cooked exactly as we requested. Sides of broccoli and mixed vegetables was very good and generous portions. The side Caesar salad was okay, not great. The portion was large but healthy greens were few. Highly recommend WildFire.
We usually go to the Glenview Wildfire, but chose Oakbrook to reduce driving for some of our guests. The service was very slow and inattentive. The food was just OK. Disappointing given that we eat certain items regularly and they are usually reliably good. One guest's broccoli was actually cold. Ugh!
I was not happy. I had reservation for a while and they ended up putting us in bar at booth. We waited to be seated so I did not want my guests to wait any longer. When we got to the booth I said don’t u have a table she said well we have one that is paying check but by that time we had just walked thru crowded bar and my husband is 73 and walks with cane. She should of given me the choice beforehand. It was hard for my husband to step up to booth. Booth two tight and it ruined our meal. Food good but only remember the bad receptionist. She was very rude to me also. I asked her twice how long and she barely answered me.
We dined at Wildfire for my son's 25th birthday. There were 6 in our party. Our waiter Matt was great. Very friendly and fun. Took our order and our food was served in a timely manner. However, I ordered a Petite Filet - medium, baked potato and Béarnaise sauce. Unfortunately the filet was not served hot and the sauce was luke warm. I did not send the steak and sauce back because I did not want to hold up dinner for my family. I mentioned this to a manager as we were leaving and did not get much of a response. This was disappointing considering the reputation of your restaurant and the cost of our meal.
Our waiter, israel, was terrific. He was fun explained all the specials, brought our salad from "the secret menu" (the red onion blue cheese salad) and noticed that the coffee was not steaming hot and quickly remedied the situation. He really made the meal!!
Orlando was our server and he was great! He is very outgoing and helpful. Our food was good. I had steak and I asked for it to be cooked medium well and it came out closer to well. I think I will ask for medium next time, knowing it may come out closer to medium well.
I've been to this restaurant many times, but for about the last 3-4 times there has always been something wrong with either the host, seating hostess or the waiter. This time it was the seating hostess that was totally oblivious to her own customer service dialogue. We made an online reservation for Super Bowl Sunday at 1130am, 15 minutes after the restaurant opens. Though we did not indicate that we would like the main dining area on our reservation, the restaurant was not nearly half full. The seating hostess (don't know her name) took us to the back corner on the upper tier to a table in a room with no one in it, except that the table next to us was set for a party of 10 that had not arrived. We asked if we could sit in a different area - hoping she would ask where we would like to be, or at least be cordial. Instead she got on her head set called the front desk and said "yeah, they don't want to sit back here - where else can they go". We asked if we could have a booth - she took us to the next room over on the upper tier. We thanked her, and got no response from her. The lunch was redeemed by Frances whom was an excellent waitress, and earned a nice tip. Alas, this is the last time we will go to the Oakbrook Wildfire, because the customer service is always just a little off. We drove for an hour to go to this restaurant for a special lunch, and it is just not worth the effort to spend more than $100 for lunch and not feel the service matches the meal price. However... we have always had the best service at the Wildfire on Huron in Chicage, so the issue is customer service training at this location.
This visit was not quite up to par, like in the past. First, we waited 45 minutes to be seated for our 7PM reservation. The bar was packed and two of our group of four waited in the long line for drinks and then they would only serve them one drink each--even though we are mid to late-50's! Two more people could not have even gotten anywhere near the bar, much less make it there to show our ID's! Really?? Once seated, I will say the appetizer was fast, but there was a lengthy wait for our other 2 drinks they wouldn't serve at the bar and our salads, entrees and additional drinks. At one point, the waiter came out and said they were waiting on one meal to bring our dinners out and 20+ minutes later our food was served. I don't know which 3 meals were able to sit under heat lamps that long??! The table lamp flickered the entire time like something was loose, the ledge by the table was very dusty and the place was packed to the point of being uncomfortable and loud. I recall that our last visit was much more enjoyable, peaceful and special. This was like super casual dining, but the food was much better! The lobby was crowded with nowhere to go and the information table was hard to locate. The bar right inside the door and people eating at high top bar tables, made for a very crowded, awkward atmosphere. The hostess was not very helpful when we asked why we were waiting so long for our reservation, which had been made weeks prior for this special occasion birthday celebration. I guess I was just a little surprised and disappointed. Not an inexpensive evening out, so we shouldn't feel that way!
