Wildfire - Glenview Ratings and Reviews
We went to Wildfire-Glenview on a cold Friday night in January and the dining room was packed. Wildfire has a deserved good reputation based on consistently prepared good food and a hearty menu. A restaurant experience needs more than good food to create a positive experience. It needs good service! On this night Jill, the manager, was seen seating people with a smile, bussing tables, picking up fallen items off of the floor, taking cell phone pictures when requested, helping an elderly lady get seated--she was constantly helping her guests and fellow staff. Jill and her team exemplified what a service team is about and along with the quality of the kitchen is the reason people keep returning to Wildfire.
Wildfire seems to keep improving. The menu is so varied, with daily and rotating specials. Service is prompt and professional. Prices are fair, both for food and drink. This place is best known for steaks, but seafood also abounds. On this occasion (we are repeat diners!) my wife had Caesar salad (authentic!) and a huge delicious roast duck that was more than enough for her, and two doggie meals! I had classic baked onion soup that was as good as any I’ve had, followed by tenderloin tips in whiskey sauce...a lot of delicious tender beef that really satisfied! Desserts looked amazing but we had no room; our bottle of red blend took its place. Just great in a old school atmosphere!
Our dinner @ Wildfire was excellent. We arrived on time and were seated promptly. Our waiter was friendly, competent and helpful, but not intrusive. The chopped salad was excellent, as were the petite filet and lamb chop entrees. Desert was excellent, and complementary on the occasion of our wedding anniversary. Only the late arriving drinks spoiled an otherwise perfect evening.
When our foursome gathers for dinner, we always choose Wildfire. This may have been the last time. When our server finally arrived, over 10 minutes from when we sat at the table, he acted like he was racing for a fire and the service was abominable. It took another 45 minutes to receive our salad and soup. Our entrees took 45 more minutes to arrive and two of the four had to be sent back because they were cold, one was undercooked and the other was almost raw. Though replacement entrees were brought fairly quickly, only one was fine and the other was totally overlooked and tasteless. We asked for bread four times and didn't receive any. The server asked us about dessert and we could only reply that, based upon the amount of time we had already been at the restaurant (almost three hours!), we probably did not have enough time before it would close. He agreed. What a disappointment.
My Beef Wellington was well done & the pork chops my friend ordered "Medium Rare" came well done. My husband ordered the Salmon & the pc was an END pc as well as it was half the size he is Normally used to.
I have been ordering the Beef Wellington for some time & I have Never had it Well done. When it is ordered they even advise that it may be Medium Rare.
They asked if we wanted the dinners to be remade but How could we say yes if we are there to eat dinner for a Birthday party & we were already there for some time when they brought our plates.
Wish I did not have to write any of this. I used to talk so Highly about Wildfire in Glenview.
We had reservations for 6:00 on a Saturday and we asked to be in the bar, perfect. However, the service was extremely slow. It took awhile to get the drinks, my old fashion was ok, my friend had a manhattan and loved it. We ordered an appetizer, salad and entrees and for some reason the waiter thought I wanted my salad before the appetizer even arrived. I order the Saturday special, Beef Wellington, I was advised it would be medium rare, when it finally arrived and it was medium. The waiter took it away and was replaced immediately.
I have loved the restaurant in the past and will continue to go, but this time we walked out 3 hours later, it was a long dinner.
I have severe and complicated food allergies, I have a lot of allergies, and I can’t stress enough the absolute professionalism, care, attention to detail and welcoming service I received! The Manager Jill brought their ingredient book out to me so we could review the ingredients in items that might have contained my allergens. They were so kind, helpful, and really took seriously my allergies. I am sensitive to how daunting my allergies can be for a busy kitchen, but in no way did I feel I was a challenge for them! I have dined safely with them for years, and now they are going even above and beyond their excellent service, with superior attention to allergens and the overall quality of my experience. Oh, and the food is wonderful and tasty!
Chose this location for my team holiday lunch. Nick was amazing and even though I didn't get the private dining room for 8 - we had privacy in the main dining area to have a great meal and we were able to talk to each other without shouting. The food was great! Highly recommend the life changing chocolate pie.
Wildfire is out family' s favorite nice-than-average place for dinner. The food is consistently good and there is a meal for everyone. It is usually packed so not relaxing or romantic but still fun. Not inexpensive, especially with alcohol. Having a gift card helps.
Food is good. Service lacks for such a nice restaurant. Seems every time we go we think this visit will be better and it seems to disappoint each time. Our orders are never correct and our meals don’t all come at the same time. Our salmon is never cooked correctly and our meals sometimes are cold
Always a good meal at Wildfire. However, this last visit, I was less satisfied with my meal. I ordered the Filet Medallion Trio at $36 and what was served to me was a little pathetic. They serve the medallions on a plate with nothing else. 3 tiny medallions on a large plate looked ridiculous! One of the medallions was extra tiny - looked like it was half of one.
So--- although the food is good, the value for this meal was not.
