Wildfire - Eden Prairie Ratings and Reviews
Wildfire is usually very consistent and delicious and one of our go-to restaurants. However this evening we had less than terrific food, even on our their usual home runs. Our wildfire chopped salad had very cold chicken on top, big mounds of blue cheese "crumbles" and hardly any tomatoes. The cod was very good but not piping hot and all of our sides were lukewarm at best (broccoli, green beans, french fries). The walleye fish sandwich didn't get eaten, my daughter's medium burger came medium rare, and the trio of medallions wasn't wonderful. Our server was overall very good and also attentive until the end when diners he knew came and sat at a table next to us. Our waters were always filled promptly as well. We are hoping this was an isolated incident vs. the quality of food going downhill in general.
Arrived with reservation about 11:10am. Hostess gave us the evil eye and curtly reported they weren’t seating until 11:15. Less than a warm welcome to start a business lunch. I had to apologize to my guest. Food was average, and the special occasion restaurant I remember seems to be a distant memory.
Wildfire delivers consistently good food but on busy nights the service is spotty. Don't ask for anything extra like another bread because it probably won't come, as it deviates from the meal routine. Water glasses may not get refilled and no one will ask you how everything is tasting. The best option is to go there very early or not on a Saturday night at all.
In the 25 years I have been going to Wildfire, I have always had the onion bread.....this past week, they didn’t have it and served corn bread!!! At first, I was so disappointed, but then I had a piece, and it was very pleasant to have something different!!! Very good corn bread.....I hope they do it more often!!!
Food was good but not much options for vegetarians or vegans. I tried to get more vegetables for chop salad since I left out chicken, bacon, and blue cheese but the server said she would charge extra for avocado. You would think there’s at least $5 of food left out that would make up for that. I would not recommend this place for vegetarians since they don’t even accommodate dietary restrictions and you leave food out that you can’t eat but pay as you got it. I felt that we didn’t get the value. We will go to Crave next door, next time.
Food was good but our waitress ignored us, the appetizer and main course were delivered at the same time about 40 minutes after being seated, and she never asked if wanted another drink or let us know or acknowledged why the food took so long. We've had good service in the past so we'll give it another chance but we were not happy.
Not first time dining here, once or twice a year, have always had a great experience. This time it started with the bread served when seated being old and dried out, which the waitress promptly replaced. Then our drinks arrived, my wife had wine which was fine but I had ordered a Capt Morgan and Coke which arrived and was severely watered down or was some off brand rum, very disappointed. We each had the Filet Mignon which was excellent. Our reservation was for my wife’s birthday which they usually acknowledge in someway, a special desert or something, not this time, a little disappointment there. Guess when you spend $120 or so on a dinner for two you expect a little more.
