Wildfire - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
Our second time dining here - and second 5-star experience! ... This time, we were at Wildfire to celebrate my daughter's birthday. What a fantastic old-fashioned supper club. Reasonable prices, great atmosphere, perfect service, and unbelievably delicious, well-prepared food. There is something for the every palate. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and we really enjoyed our cocktails and wine flight as well. Because of the other review that I saw, I want to say that we made reservations through OpenTable and were seated immediately. It was busy, but we didn't have to wait to order, and the food arrived promptly. Timing of the service (there was teamwork) was perfect. Highly recommend!
We went for Valentine’s Day and it was amazing. They had a great valentines menu which was an appetizer, huge salad, 2 entrees (each with 1 side), and a dessert for $95. Great deal and their alcoholic drinks are really reasonably priced. We were about 45 minutes early for our 9:15pm reservation but they sat us within 2 minutes of arriving. That was awesome. I would Highly recommend this restaurant.
Having been to many restaurants owned by lettuce entertain you, I was disappointed and wildfire. It felt rushed and not particularly well organized. Specifically, I had a conversation my waiter about having my meat cooked a certain way and it arrived dramatically over done, basically ruining my meal since I couldn’t eat with my friends. Also, I don’t think they have enough staff . The people who brought out the food got all the orders wrong and the busboys dropped a couple of plates after trying to carry too much stuff away from the table. For a restaurant that is trying to be high-end, wildfire needs to do a better job
I can always count on the food being great. My spouse is a little picky but can always find something on the menu. The service is top notch and the staff was very accommidating when we need to change the time of the reservation. Never pass up the Baked French Onion soup. Thank you Wildfire.
Superb Lunch Experience. I met my daughter for lunch specifically for the Restaurant Week menu. We had the cedar plank salmon which was absolutely delicious. The broccoli was perfectly steamed and served with a lemon butter sauce—yummy. We finished with the key lime pie which is the best in Chicago.
Chicago Wildfire's ambience was lovely and service by Andrew was fantastic. However the food was average. Not nearly as tasty as other Wildfires I've been to in the past. Calamari was bland and greasy. Steak not cooked properly, more medium rare than medium well. Greek salad more Caesar salad than Greek. Disappointing for a $200 meal.
We've been going to Wildfire for years. For this particular occasion, we celebrated a birthday. I am currently on a pretty restrictive diet: I can't have gluten, dairy, sugar, or legumes. Prior to my visit, I corresponded with Wildfire over social media and they were prompt with answers. Super impressive! Our server was very kind and patient in answering my questions regarding what I was able to have on the menu, and didn't make me feel bad for having limited options. Service was notably a bit on the slower side, but it was a very busy Saturday night, and I ultimately felt totally taken care of, as usual.
Went there for restaurant week had the special 3 course meal for $44. My girlfriend loved the salad and cod and I enjoyed the filet! The deserts are huge and extremely good! Will highly recommend Wildfire to anyone!
Only thing was that the restaurant wouldn’t allow for the house salad (cheaper) to substituted for the Greek salad.
Wildfire was a great choice to celebrate my Partner's 61st Birthday. Valet parking was convenient, we had a reservation, so we were seated promptly. The staff was welcoming and our server Josh, was a delight!
As for our meal, I ordered the short ribs, mashed potatoes and root vegetables from the Restaurant Week Menu (which was a lovely surprise because I was not aware it was Restaurant week until we arrived there). I also had the shrimp and crab bisque as my appetizer and the Key Lime pie for dessert. Phyllis did not order from the Restaurant Week Menu. She had the parmesan crusted cod (SO FREAKING DELICIOUS), the calamari as her appetizer and a cup of the shrimp and crab bisque. He dessert was the house birthday offering, which was a flourless chocolate cake with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream on it. All delicious.
We were a bit disappointed because we were able to use our Lettuce Birthday rewards but we were not able to use the 10.00 reward we had earned from previous dining. The manager explained that there was a rule that rewards points could not be used on a Saturday night, after 4pm. I'm not sure why but he said it was a "Lettuce" rule, not his rule and that he was not willing to do anything to accommodate us. This was disappointing. For us, it was not about the 10 dollars, it was the principle of it. In any case, we tipped generously (because Josh was awesome) and we will remember next time, not to go on a Saturday if we have rewards points to use. The app should also provide that information.
Overall, Wildfire was a wonderful experience. The people were great and the food was delicious. It was our first time dining there but we will definitely be back in the future. Also, I cannot overstate how glad I was that we had a reservation because the place was packed.
Normally, Wildfire is great. Our recent visit a couple of days ago, however, was not. Filet was full of gristle. Snow peas were soaked in oil, but I asked for them plain. It was my birthday, and the server did not recognize that at all. Service was also very slow. We hope this bad experience was a fluke, versus the beginning of a bad trend.
This was a very unsatisfactory experience. The service was very poor. The waiter literally threw things on the table. He brought the entree before we had finished the appetiser, they were that keen to get us in and out quickly. The appertizer tasted like a soup straight from a can, accompanied by some crackers in a plastic wrapper. Felt like very cheap start to the meal. The steak was ok but certainly nothing to go back for. The sides were terrible too. Balsamic vegetables were overcooked and the fries seemed like they had been bathing in oil for a very long time. I would never ever return nor would I recommend this place to anyone. We came away extremely disappointed.
Fantastic restaurant!! Food was wonderful. Mindy made the meal experience extremely special. Very knowledgeable of the menu. Was prompt in her service but knew we were there celebrating a special birthday and wasn’t too intrusive. She even surprised us with a birthday dessert on them. I will most certainly come back to wildfire the next time we are in ChiTown.
We enjoyed a fun girls lunch at Wildfire - Chicago. There is a good variety of entree choices to please just about anyone. The food is consistently very good. The prime rib dip sandwich was delicious and very tender. The kale/spinach salad was a generous portion for one - tender with no bitterness to the kale, nice dressing and with the fried calamari just right - a good recommendation from our waitress. The atmosphere is very comfortable with good lighting and the noise level is low enough for easy conversation.
