Wildfire - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
Although Wildfire Restaurant is usually one of my favorites it was only average or a little bit better for Thanksgiving dinner I thought the foodt seemed pre-prepared, especially the appetizers and salads. Portions in my opinion were on the small side as we were paying $49 a person. The dessert was good the service was good as well as the ambiance.
I tried 8 times to cancel the reservation through open tables web site and couldn’t. When I tried multiple times I would get a message—— this is highly unusual, but the restaurant in not responding—please try again. I did try multiple times at multiple times to retry, but I received the same response. I’m sorry to the staff at wildfire for not showing up, but we had a medical emergency we had to respond to, and were not able to keep our reservation
I went to the chicago wildfire for my 60th birthday. It was perfect. The drinks were A+, the food was A+, and the desert was to die for. Everything was perfect. We went early, 4:45pm reservations which was perfect. When we were leaving around 6"30, it was starting to get noisy. They seated us in a booth that was rounded. Perfection. I love it @ wildfire.
We had issues the last two times that we visited this restaurant, but neither issue had to do with the food. The food is always great. This time I am happy to report that everything was great. The server was nice and friendly as was the rest of the staff we encounter. When I made the reservation, I forgot that I had included that we were celebrating our anniversary. Our server did not mention it until the end when she brought dessert out for us - which was also delicious. It was a great evening.
We had a great dinner after the theater. Our waiter Marvin did an excellent job. We started with the crab cake appetizer which is loaded with crab. Next I had the filet trio, which was cooked perfectly. My husband had a short rib special that was excellent. For dessert we tried the sampler with a "bite" of ice cream sandwich, peanut butter pie and key lime pie. Perfect sweet to finish off the meal.
we've been coming here for almost 20 years... and honestly, I think the bloom is finally off the rose... no, I did not dine with my step mother in law... this was a date lunch with my wife... but the host was snooty, the chopped salad, even by its smell (forget it's taste) had already taken a turn for the worse, and I'm convinced the bread for the table was simply the re-warmed shapes from the day before... with all the competition in the steak/supper club arena... Perry's, Ruth Chris, Gibson's... it is time for Wildfire to attempt to re-invent itself... 1) before all the food begins to taste like my step mother in laws left-overs in her version of a supper club, and 2) before some developer sensing the lack of quality, knocks the place down and builds another condo complex on the spot... in order to reflect the true value of the square footage being wasted in this particular space
Wildfire is our favorite steakhouse specifically for the prime rib but this time it wasn’t very good. There must be a new chef bc my husband ordered his medium and it was rare. I️ ordered the short ribs this time and they were good but my vegetables were over cooked. Maybe the kitchen is overwhelmed now since it has become more popular but I’m not really sure. The waiters were great as usual. We will go again but I️ hope it’s better next time.
I had very high expectations of this placed based on its stellar reviews and my expectations were exceeded. The food was delicious and very well prepared - chopped salad, New York Steak with blue cheese crust, enormous baked potato and an incredible flourless chocolate cake. Everything was beyond perfection. Very gracious and professional service by Sandy. We were only visiting Chicago but if I lived there, I would be a regular!
Wildfire wasn't bad. Service was actually quite good - attentive, good knowledge of the menu, professional. But the food was just...ok. Again, not bad, but nothing to write home about. I had a Caesar salad, which was pretty good. Ordered a filet with a side of broccoli. The filet was slightly overcooked (I ordered medium rare, and it came out closer to medium) and honestly didn't taste like it had been seasoned. I could tell it was a good cut of meat, but if you're a steakhouse, it seems like your steak should be the star of the meal, and not just not bad. I wouldn't tell anyone NOT to eat at Wildfire, because it wasn't a bad experience, and the prices were reasonable for the type of restaurant that it is. But there are so many really good steakhouses in Chicago, that I think I'll try somewhere else on my next trip.
We love Wildfire because they are so consistent. I was not happy with the steaks this time. My husbands Porterhouse had no flavor and was tough and it was supposed to be Medium it was Medium well.
Mine was just ok again, no flavor. We were really disappointed since we have been coming here from years and know that we will get a good steak.
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and it was a wonderful experience. Food was fantastic. Waiter was very friendly and courteous. Not too loud, even on a busy night. Did not like that the entrees came out while we were eating our appetizers after we specifically requested it to come out after, but that would not keep me from coming back. Great flights as well.
Steak was disappointing, overlooked. Au gratin potatoes came out cool and the replacement potatoes were hot but undercooked. More consistent food at the Lincolnshire location. Would not go to the downtown location again. Not the caliber of food one expects from Wildfire.
Wildfire has always been my go to place for special occasions. Unfortunately this time it was not. To start they said they forgot to order non alcoholic beer and we’re out. The 2 prime ribs that were ordered were raw. Would have sent them back but the waitress was no where to be found. They forgot our mushrooms as well. We felt rushed to place our order than the waitress disappeared once the food came
Food was mediocre at best. Salmon was dry, not flavorful and drenched in a terrible sauce to cover up the fact that is was over cooked and dry. Quality of salmon was inferior. Roasted vegetables seemed like leftover scraps that had been thrown together rather than prepared with purpose for presentation. I had noted in the reservation that it was for a birthday celebration. There was NEVER any acknowledgement of that by anyone.
