Wildfire - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
Everything about Wildfire was good from the start. The ambience, service , hospitality and of course the food. I ll definitely recommend this place for all the occasions. Young dudes to lookout for perfect date. A easy way for husband s to make a surprise date and joy the beloved ones.
The food was decent. Service was slow. Had to ask for our wine multiple times. There was a waiter that was very angry and cussing every time he walked past us. I was very happy that we left my 7 year old at home. I would not have wanted him exposed to this waiter. It was very inappropriate.
I have been to Wildfire a number of times in the past at all of the Chicagoland locations. Since I travel nationwide weekly for work and it had been a few years since i had eaten there last. I decided to take the family out to eat for my sons 18th birthday. I wouldn't say it was the worst experience but definitely not on par or anywhere near my previous experiences. Seating was tight and for some reason the waiters literally only chose to use the isle my daughter and I were sitting in. Constant bumping without regard. My daughter and mother ordered ribs. They were extremely tough and unflavorful. My son's steak as well as mine (NY strip) mediocre at best. My wife's meal seemed ok. Best part of dinner was our server, she was super great and helpful, the drinks which are always top shelf and the hostesses when we were initially arriving were great. Everything else, well just not the top quality experience I remembered.
Wildfire was an excellent choice. The service was exceptional and I do mean exceptional. Right off the bat, they were extremely aware of one diner’s gluten allergy because I mentioned it in my OT notes. They handled GF issues better than ANY restaurant I’ve seen yet. Every person starting with the hostess, including servers (Anna was absolutely great) and bartenders (we moved to the bar because we were originally seated between two large parties that arrived right after us, in the middle of the dining room, despite my quiet table preference, but we declined trying the booths on the edges). The food was excellent, in my case the NY Steak Alforno was flavorful and tender. Au gratin potatoes a bit cold. GF bread as a starter, wow. And quite the GF menu options, make it so easy to navigate the menu. My wife enjoyed the bison burger on GF bun (not the best bun in the world but it’s a gf bun and an excellent bison burger) and her baked potato was excellent and large. Very enjoyable experience!
We have been to Wlidfire on many occasions, we normally got to the Oakbrook location. This was our first visit to the Erie Street location. Although our service was great, the food was just OK. The obvious issue was our food was lukewarm, at best. But both the chicken and the ribs were very dry. This was new for us considering the number of times we have frequented Wildfire in the past. It was busy with New Years Eve, but no excuse.
Went to Wildfire on New Year’s Eve and it was very nice. The restaurant looked so pretty with lots of Christmas greens and white lights. The host/hostesses wore Happy New Year headbands. The food was excellent, very generous portions. I had the turkey dinner special. Very good!
The service was excellent, usually when I dine at the one in Chicago it’s mediocre at best. My favorite is Oakbrook, however they were booked for NYE. The prices downtown are $2 more for everything and the food is just okay. I also would like thank the manager for allowing us to change the reservation on such short notice.
Our server was awesome ( I can't recall his name), but the food was sub par. Both me and my boyfriend's food came out lukewarm, and looked as if it had been sitting in the window too long. The food also didn't have any flavor. Our server was nice enough to recommend a second dish for my boyfriend and comp his initial meal (which he barely ate). I appreciated that. But I probably won't be back. I felt the cost of our meal and the commute wasn't worth it.
My wife and I went there for our 44th anniversary. I had noted that it was our anniversary when I made the reservation. The waitstaff was aware of that and gave us a free dessert. We found the waitstaff attentive without being intrusive. I did not particularly care for the cheese combination on the French onion soup, but I'm not so much of a cheese afficionado and my wife, who is, loved it. I had the bone-in ribeye. It was cooked exactly to my order and was excellent. My wife had the NY strip steak/lobster tail combo. It was the same. There was more to both than we could eat, but we took the residue home and had a couple of great steak sandwiches out of it. Food here is obviously pricey but they do their best to make it worth it and I think they succeeded. The ambiance is "steakhouse" - wood paneling, prints on the wall, etc. I did appreciate the lighting. It was subdued but you could still read the menus and see what you were eating without a problem, which is not always the case! Definitely on my list the next time I have a special event to celebrate.
Pork chops were fantastic..worth going back for them. My husband has some fish which he thought was delicious. only complaints we that Wild rice was tasty but cold and broccoli was flavorless. Server was willing to send rice back but I declined.
Great place for groups, families, business and casual dining. Not an upscale place. Staff exceptionally friendly, customer service oriented. Over all a nice experience.
Very disappointed! Took our family here for dinner before the theater. We usually get excited for the delicious warm bread. The first sign was the marginal bread. They must have switched vendors- not the same. Martini was room temp (when I ordered extra cold), daughter’s fries, along with fish special were cold- like really cold. Sadly, after being pretty regular customers throughout the years, our family won’t be going back.
Christmas dinner before a show with my son...loved the atmosphere. Food was well above par...needed a larger variety of early breads and amount of serving re: medallions for the price wasn’t perfect, but I’d go back for the total experience downtown again without hesitation.
We are out of town visiting. Came two years ago and was pretty good. This time no! Had to send a medium well steak back bc it was charred thru and the cut of meat seemed more on the choice side not prime. The sides were ho hum and had very little flavor. Will not come back.
There are many exciting new restaurants in Chicago that are unpredictable. If what you want is authentic, predictable, and traditional, I recommend Wildfire over some other excellent steakhouses. I did not feel like I was wedged into an overstuffed room. I did not feel judged or hurried. There were no awkward service moments at my table, nor did I observe any at other tables. There were no problems with any of the food. I prefer a menu with unexpected items and an eclectic mix of cusines, but I would almost never recommend that kind of restaurant. Choose Wildfire for a night when you don't want any surprises, because that's exactly what it's for.
Each Christmas season, my wife and I take our two grown daughters and grandson, all from out of town, up to Chicago from Valparaiso. This time in searching Open Table, I believed I found the right combination for our group - great food, gluten free options for my wife, signature martinis for my daughters, food choices for a teenager, and good ambience, all for reasonable prices. We were not disappointed with my choice. We were seated promptly. Our waiter could not have been attentive. My wife and I agreed that our Parmesan crusted cod was out of this world and my daughters’ filets were perfect. The desserts hit the spot including my wife’s gluten free flourless chocolate cake. We all agreed that this Chicago outing was one of our best meals we have had in Chicago. Our bill for dinner and drinks was $300. We will come back again.
