Wildcraft Ratings and Reviews
Had a reservation for Valentine's Day dinner. I ordered a drink off the February specials menu that was more ice than anything else. Our main course food was excellent (we've dined here before and the food was up to the regular high standard we expected) However, partway through our desserts, our server came over, informed us that they were very busy and asked if we were "coming to the end" of our food, making us feel like we were being pushed out of the restaurant (especially since several other couples had been seated for longer than us, and did not seem to be getting rushed out). Very awkward experience, especially considering the cost of our meal and the occasion.
Booked for Valentines Dinner for 3, however we were seated at a table set for 2...not a huge deal but i feel that since we booked in advance they should have been prepared for all 3 of us. Although it was Valentine’s day, they were playing loud 80s music...nothing like having a special dinner to “Ghost Busters”. Pasta on two of our dishes was over cooked and Cod dish was particularly fishy tasting. Service was good. Disappointed in the overall experience though.
Overall Wildcraft was quite good. Our meals came out relatively quick hot and tasty! All 5 adults had something different and all good from chicken to cod to pork chop. the only one lacking was the mushroom pasta...without the chillies it was bland. Also I'm still disappointed that not one of the 3 main restaurants in the Charcoal Group has a good caesar salad anymore. You used to be the best for this classic...why ruin a good thing? anyway, overall our experience was good and the server was excellent!
We were disappointed this occasion as the food was not up to the same standard as it has been in the past. Some items were a bit cool, bread had been substituted for more interesting & better match flatbreads, the cod was a bit "mushy" and the coffee was weak & cheap.
Re the cod: the texture suggested that it had been refrozen before cooking which destroys the texture. The waitstaff were pleasant & efficient.
We were greeted professionally at the door and immediately shown to our table. The ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic - well-lit but also cozy.
Unfortunately didn't have a great meal experience. The steak was tougher than I was expecting from a higher end steakhouse, and the server was borderline rude to my guest after making a mistake with his meal. Not sure I'll return - there are other restaurants at this price-point with better service and food.
We came on Sunday at 11:30am hoping for brunch but realized when we got there, their brunch menu is only for special occasions like Mother's Day. Too bad because it's really good. It would be great if they offered it every Sunday as it's difficult to find a nice place for Sunday brunch. However, we were not disappointed with their lunch menu. We wanted to split a pasta and a flatbread between the two of us and the waitress suggested that they do that in the kitchen without us even having to ask for it. All of the food was great as well as the service. Highly recommend it.
Wildcraft continues to be a favourite. I certainly recommend it to others. I don't have experience with the features appealing to the younger set but I am sure it must be popular. Got those not fitting that description the ambiance, food and service are consistently great. Who could ask for anything more?
It was a great way to have the family together for Christmas Eve dinner. The food was absolutely terrific and the staff was wonderful. We will make this a yearly tradition. We were not rushed and did not feel that we needed to hurry out for the next sitting.
Have enjoyed this restaurant in the past and had recommended it to family and friends. Unfortunately, the last 2 visits were disappointing — food was lukewarm-cold, salad lacked flavour and server did not return to ask how we were enjoying our entrees. Considering we were 1 of 3 tables in the restaurant, our meal should have been much better. Won’t be recommending.
We have always loved Wildcraft, however our last visit was a little disappointing. It was very cold; our feet were frozen (and I had boots on). The soup was flavourful but very thin and there wasn't a great lunch selection. The fries were luke warm, and the rest of the food wasn't very hot either. Dinner selection didn't seem as it was before either. Something has changed.
The service was great though.
Lunch was good. I had the wild mushroom tagliatelle and the flavours were very nice. The double baked white chocolate cake is my favourite. My only complaint would be the service. The server was overly attentive and it felt like she was hovering over us and rushing us at times. The restaurant was busy and so I'm not sure if the table was needed for someone else but I was having lunch with a good friend and we had lots to talk about so we were ok with a more relaxed service and I don't think our server was reading us that well. We had to tell her we would let her know when we were ready to order a few times. Overall it was good.
Wildcraft is our favourite restaurant for special occasions! The servers are always top-notch. They put the extra touches and effort on service, and are so friendly. The food is amazing - presentation too. Would love to see meat-free options consistently with menu changes - it comes and goes. This recent visit, i had a salad which was great, but for me, it had way too much oil on it. I usually order dressing on the side, but figured it would be a 'drizzle' at an upscale place, and i try not to alter what the chef has designed out of respect. Oops. Next time. :)
Overall, Best place in town for an enjoyable adult environment.
I have severe food allergies and Wildcrraft was so miticulous with my allergies and I felt very comfortable with how they handled my allergies.
My waiter was so informed that I felt at ease and could enjoy a meal out which I rarely do. The food was delicious and i praise the chef for taking such good care of me.
This is my go to place for a night out from now on.
Nice atmosphere, good food, but difficult to get good seating during the holiday season. Although I reserved a table for two via OpenTable, the seating we received for our special caisson was a small cramped table pushed up against the wall. For that I give a three star for ambience. Luckily the waitress made up for the lack of ambience with her professionalism. The food was as to be expected from such an establishment and we were not disappointed.
I eat here fairly often and am never disappointed. The menu changes just often enough to keep things interestingly tasty.
I do have one thing that I really don’t understand. You used to have a philo wrapped cheese cake with I believe a raspberry coulee. In my opinion one of the best deserts in the city. And it’s gone 😫😫😫. So interesting that the people we had dinner with had also experienced the old cheesecake philo concoction and the new one as well. Let’s just say none of us ordered the new one. I used to tell everyone to try that old desert. Even had someone describe it as “better than sex”. Really enjoyed the meal and apps and would most definitely return again.
