Wild Sea Oyster Bar and Grille Ratings and Reviews
My Sweetheart and I went for Valentines Day and were absolutely delighted. This is a taste treat combined with impeccable service. I recommend it for any occasion and am looking forward to my next mouth watering experience. Thank You Wild Sea Oyster Bar and Grill.
My sister came in on Valentines and we had already made reservations.
Upon entering the noise level, at 8pm from music is too loud, for a restaurant
but luckily we were seated outside ( per request when reserving).
The menu was fixed and we opted for the wine pairing which was excellent.
Octopus, oysters, lobster and dessert. Only the lobster tail was ordinary.
The wandering musician was a nice touch, although a little too loud as stated. Unless at a disco music should be background when fine dining.
All in all a great evening.
We dined in the main dining room full of ambience, & especially liked the table placement: far enough away from other diners, so it felt private. The menu is varied, oysters are a plenty, fish dishes were delish! + our waiter was attentive! One can not ask for more!
An attractive restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, situated on the very busy Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.
I was greeted by a very friendly hostess, offering me either inside or outside seating. Choosing inside, I was brought to a very nice table, and almost immediately offered a choice of waters, and had bread on the table in record time.
While I waited for my partner who was parking the car (apparently there is some valet arrangement that we were unaware of, ask about it), I had a chance to look over the menu.
When he arrived we ordered. I started with the Grilled Octopus, great grill flavor, and still tender, while my partner enjoyed the Mussels appetizer – mussels in a delicious Guinness Stout broth flavored lemon and herbs, grilled focaccia for dipping, yum, yum.
Our entrees were equally as good, I enjoyed the Seared Diver Scallops, cooked perfectly, with mushrooms and English peas, and bacon with a light mint coconut sauce, in a word, delicious! My partner ordered the pan-seared Grouper with roasted beets, arugula, and fennel herbs in a wonderful honey-lavender vinaigrette. The slight problem with the grouper was it was a little overcooked.
Now, onto the server – Marc. Server Extraordinaire! A big personality – fun, and most knowledgeable about the food and wine. We’ve been to many restaurants, very few a have such an excellent representative for their food and wine offerings.
All in all, a pleasant evening. I’d suggest, if you’re in the area, give it a try if you’re in the mood for seafood; they also offer some meat selections as well.
This is the second time we’ve had a terrible experience in this restaurant. So I finally decided I would write a review. We ordered the four dollar per oyster appetizer and got a dozen but for $48 it was missing all of the typical condiments you would expect to have with oysters such as Cocktail sauce, Tabasco etc. Then we tried the tuna poki with shrimp chips and the tuna did not look fresh, it looked boiled, and had a grayish darker tint to it. We ate about 10% of it because it was unedible and when we told the waiter about it he did nothing. Then for dinner we had ordered the beef tenderloin and when they brought the dish they actually brought a salmon fillet. We were so frustrated at that point we told him we didn’t even want the main course anymore and we literally left the restaurant hungry. With the high prices ($40-$50 steaks) and the service they charge you would expect to have a real top notch meal but it was essentially low-quality food at a super high price, with bad service.
Dined at WSOBG based on TripAdvisor rating and reviews with another couple . . . . we were not disappointed. Romaine wedge and panzanella salad both very good, bread and oysters on the half shell were excellent but what really stole the show were the monk fish loins (which 3 of us had) with the smoked gouda grits and the grouper.
Hostess wasn’t at the host station but was busy chatting some waiters. Finally saw us after a few mins and came over. First tried to seat us at a high top in the bar and I explained we’d like to have a dining table. Then tried to put us at a bar table. Had to explain that when we book on Opentable we expect to eat in a restaurant and not a bar so finally got a dressed table in the restaurant. Hostess pointed out there was no request with the reservation. Did I need to specify I didn’t want to eat in the bar?
Next we got dirty menus, then ice water instead of the sparkling which we asked for..
Oysters were great, grilled octopus great, lobster bisque great. Halibut entree great except for the 3 gritty mussels that come with it. Seared tuna, awful soapy flavour, probably not so fresh, with undercooked brocollini and overly salted mushrooms.
The manager graciously offered dessert to make up for the disappointing entree. We were handed a dessert menu and the waiter explained the options. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find them on the dessert menu as we were handed an old, out dated one. We feel sorry for our waiter as she was quite embarrassed, despite having given exceptional service.
I hope they get their act together here as it uses to be a go to favourite.
The only really impressive element about this resturant was their decor and atmosphere. For being a fine dining resturant there are certain standards that need to be met, which unfortunately didn’t come close. The waiter kept trying to upsell us on everything, which isn’t proper. For example our table felt pressured to order the $98 bottle of wine instead of $70. When I was going to order salmon for an entree the waiter recommended me all the other fish options because there was a $15 - $25 price difference.
bottom line the quality of food was TERRIBLE.
Appetizer we had Mussels, which was full of sand, the chef forgot to wash them. Steak tartar was well seasoned but nothing to ride home about.
Entrees my guest ordered the sushi grade Tuna which was cold. Tuna presentation was also not good; the chef Cut whole tuna in half ( way too big of a peace and threw on the plate.) The mushrooms on the plate were also too spicy.
The salmon that I ordered was also not warm and plain.
Overall food quality did not exceed expensive prices.
We booked an early dinner last minute here since we had flown in from Boston early that morning. We chose to eat inside since it felt a bit more intimate. The food was amazing. We both ordered monkfish based on the waiter’s recommendation and it was honestly one of the best things I have ever eaten! Would definitely go back!
Visiting Ft. Lauderdale from D.C. for the Christmas holiday. Found Wild Oyster through Yelp, and booked a reservation for Christmas Day. They advertised a very appealing Christmas buffet on their site. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival for our 4:00pm reservation. We were promptly seated and our server explained the raw bar, the hot buffet and then a selection of al a carte made to order appetizers and tapas that were also part of the buffet.
Our server Lilli was fantastic, she really made the visit for us. She was professional and knowledgeable , kept our wine glasses topped off, our plates clean and checked on us regularly without making us feel rushed.
The raw bar was fantastic, they kept the fresh shucked oysters and clams coming, the shrimp and ceviche and sushi were fabulous , the hot buffet was creative, thoughtful and well prepared with a wonderful selection of accompaniments with the main courses that you could mix and match. The a la carte options were delicious as well. These were items from their regular menu including the stuffed oysters, seared scallops with corn coulis and the spicy lamb appetizer. We were not rushed, enjoyed a nice bottle of wine (they have a wonderful cellar) and are looking forward to returning to Wild Oyster on our next visit. A memorable Christmas meal!!
Went with some very close friends and had great dinner and drinks. The service was terrific and the food was delicious. We had dinner prior to seeing a show at the Broward Performing Arts Center. We were able to walk to the show in about 15 minutes along the river. Would do the whole evening over again!
Came here on Thanksgiving night, they had an all you can eat buffet with Roast Turkey and Roast Beef and salmon for the non meat eaters. There was also a wonderful seafood buffet with large prawns, oysters and ceviche dishes......the cocktails were
Amazing we had Long Island iced tea and they were the best we’ve had anywherebthe barman really knew what he
Was doing and was very friendly. Perfect venue for a dinner either with friends or a date night the ambiance was neither too quiet or too noisy. The lighting was soft and the Service was good. I would recommend this restaurant.
