I love this place, but since becoming a vegan, purely for ethical reasons, this place doesn't offer any vegan entrees on the menu. Basically meaning I have to eat elsewhere before catching a show at the Belly Up. This day and age, when vegans are more prevalent than ever, and this place is rigidly offering 70's-style fare?

Come on Wild Note, step into the 21st Century and do some vegan entrees

Service was poor, especially considering the staff to guest ratio when we arrived. They seemed more concerned with their conversation that taking our drink and food orders. Fortunately we arrived early. Had we arrived at the time of our reservation, we would have been late to the concert we were attending across the street.

Wild Note was a convenient setting for a pre-event dinner while attending the Belly Up Tavern next door. Food was good, as were the prices and the best part was there was a back door entry into the theater so our group did not have to wait in line.

Again our waitress Vanessa was the greatest. She took care of us with the right amount of checking back in to see if we needed anything. WE love to come here with friends before a concert or lunch to relax. One of our favorite places to eat and have conversation. Nice vegan and vegetarian options but still has the great beef or fish dishes.

Whether going to show at the Belly Up next door (with access through inside, too), or just having a neighborhood dinner, it's a great spot for people watching and just a fun time!

Good quality food, very casual. Excellent service. Really a small restaurant and bar good for dining at prior to seeing music at the next door music venue. Loud inside - outside tables are quieter.

Used to love their truffle fries, but last time I tried them they weren't quite as good as before. Had a good lobster/shrimp dish though. Like many people, I visit this restaurant largely because it aids quick entry to events at Belly Up next door. I live in Imperial Beach, so it is quite a long drive, especially when it's a workday the next day.

I like the Wild Note Cafe as the staff is very friendly as well as the cliental. My wife and I eat there before shows at the Belly Up. It is very comfortable on the patio and the noise level is minimal. We have a few drinks and a simple meal then off to the show.

We had tickets to the Belly Up, arrived a little early and got a seat right away at the bar. We decided to get in line to get a seat in the Belly Up so we ordered our food to go. They packaged it in a brown box with eating utensils just in time to take it in. It was hot and delicious. Everyone was so friendly and helpful.

I ate here because it was easy access to Belly Up and no waiting in line for concert. I was pleasantly surprised at menu and good service and patio was closed in by plastic with heaters and comfortable. The waitress explained the menu items accurately and varied from pub food to seafood. I will be going here again!

Great place! 3/3 times for us....excellent each time.

Joseph the manager is friendly and nice. He multi-tasks running the place, serving, greeting, seating....all of it!

Caroline is probably just about the most nice server you will ever have!

Also, we were running late for RSVP, and they held table.

I read some reviews before I went there. Some "foodie" raved about it. So, my expectations were quite high and certainly, the food didn't measure up. I had the lobster dumplings the waitress recommended. They were quite bland and served in a sweet sauce. If you're into sweet, maybe, otherwise pretty poor. For dinner my date had the lobster shrimp burrito. She loved it and ate the whole thing, but its Mexican food. The easiest to cook, and far from "foodie" quality type food. I had the dijon crusted salmon with Brussel sprouts and rice. The fish was OK, rice was like eating nothing, and the sprouts we're sweet. We had two glasses of wine, and I'm out for ~$120. I don't mind paying for quality tasty food, but this isn't it. I'm taking my date to Eddy V's for a makeup dinning experience on Saturday, since this fell short on Valentines day.

Our friends and my wife loved their Filet Mignon Sliders, and Grilled Filet Medallions. My favorite is the vegan option of Tandoori with Tofu instead of the chicken. We always have great dinner conversations across the table here and our servers take care of us so well. They have added some new nice additions to their, by the glass, wine list too. We will be back with friends soon.

Perfect for a nice dinner before a concert at Belly Up. The food was amazing! I had lobster dumplings, lobster and shrimp bisque and ahi poke - all outstanding. The waitress was very attentive. I had reservations and did not have to wait to be seated. I would definitely return to this restaurant!

The food was good and service was fast. We enjoyed visiting with our friends. It was not quiet the night we were there but that was because there were a lot of people going to a concert next door. We were all doing the same thing so it was ok that it was loud and energetic. The food all around was tasty and everyone enjoyed their entrees.

The Wild Note Cafe is next door to and has a back door entrance to the Belly Up music venue in Solana Beach. As such it is an excellent choice to enjoy a nice dinner before the show and get decent seats afterward without having to wait on line outside with the rest of the crowd. The cost is moderate, the food is good, and you can bring any leftover drinks from your table into the Belly Up. On the night Jeff Bridges and the Abiders were at the Belly Up, we had bacon-crusted whitefish on a bed of risotto with wilted spinach. Yum. For an appetizer try the lobster wonton pockets for two. Delish.

My husband and I went for dinner. It's a small restaurant attached to the Belly Up, a local music venue. I didn't care for the type of music coming through the open door, but it wasn't too too loud. That might deter me from returning for dinner another time, but lunch will not have the live music. And hopefully I will enjoy what they do play.

My husband liked his lobster and shrimp enchilada meal and thought the rice and refried beans were very good. He said the lobster taste wasn't very strong. I think that's pretty typical when lobster is mixed in with other foods. To me, lobster is best on its own, or in a lobster bisque.

I had the salmon salad with fruit. It was delicious, but the salmon was very scant. Should be called fruit salad with salmon garnish! I had four pieces of salmon, about an inch and a half long, an inch wide, and thinly sliced. I had about six small bites. Someone else could eat all the salmon in three bites, easily. Not enough salmon for a dinner or for the price.

I'd like to see more gf items offered, too.
