Wild Goat Bistro - Petaluma Ratings and Reviews
We were 8 minutes late and they gave away our table and reservation- sat us right against the entry door where incoming guests brought a gust of wind and brushed against my husband. The first glass of water smelled and tasted like chlorine. After we drew this to their attention the service improved immediately. The food was amazing.
We took our brother out for his birthday lunch. He's picky but we checked the menu before to be sure there was something he'd like. He ordered the burger with Gouda and he loved it! We all shared the crab dip, goat cheese pear and fig small plate, and the meatball before having the pasta special , albacore salad and the cherry blue salad. The albacore salad was a bit too much tuna to lettuce ratio for me but it was tasty. One of us wanted more blue cheese in the cherry blue salad but the pasta dish was amazing! Overall delicious and we'd go back.
I brought five friends from across the country for a reunion dinner; all of us had very different dietary preferences and restrictions and were happy to find that the menu offered each of us many things we wanted to eat! Our server was attentive and friendly, and we loved what we chose (polenta with pesto & red pepper sauces, brussels sprouts, sliders, mushroom soup, ahi salads, etc.) I'll be back!
Both friends had the calamari steak and neither was worth the price. One was inedible (taste, texture, doneness), both tasted old and the other was rubbery. The Pasta and Duck, the pasta was mushy and the duck was dry. The desserts were very good even though they were out of the choice we wanted. Unfortunately I upset my server when I told her I wouldn't be back. I tried to convince her that it had absolutely nothing to do with her and that all I wanted to do was give feedback so that the owners could remain in business.
This was our second visit and the first for dinner. Everything was great. I enjoyed the short ribs, but others had the burger, meatballs. We shared the very tasty chopped salad.
They offer great cakes for dessert; I especially liked the salted caramel.
Attentive, non-intrusive service. Great option in Petaluma.
This is one of my favorite restaurants! They have wonderful food, great selection for picky, problem, or multiple needs eaters (and small groups of such), and great service. No soy in the place and much in gluten-free options.
I had t-bone lamb with a light, delicate summer squash casserole thing (like a kugel) and my date (husband) had one of their pizzas. Delicious! This was our second time here, and we both love the place.
Experience overall was not as good as it used to be. Food ranged from ok to good. They sat us 15 minutes after our reservation, although we arrived on time. Brussel sprouts small plate was prepared just ok. Ruth, our server, was so, so. She was slow and not very attentive. Also she made a big goof. We asked her when we first ordered that she hold a piece of carrot cake for us and then she proceeded to not do so, and then the restaurant ran out. Very disappointing since she said she would. After she told us they we're out of the cake, she proceeded to tell us she forgot because they were busy and then ask if we wanted another dessert for purchase. One of the reasons we chose the Goat was for the awesome carrot cake.
Not a place for an intimate dinner on Friday night . The seating was very tight. The noise level was very high. My wife ordered a salad. I ordered the T-bone lamb. The salad was excellent, fresh and very tasty. I would not recommend the lamb to a friend. It was tough and relatively tasteless. Service was excellent even though the place was packed. Next time I would not order the lamb.
Very good flavors. We went for lunch and I would have given it five stars but the bread on the chicken sandwich was huge with a very tough crust. Had to borrow my friend's steak knife to cut. I don't know of anyone with a mouth big enough or teeth strong enough to bite into it. I ate the filling which was superb - incredibly moist chicken. Perhaps they should offer a choice of bread.
fabulous experience dining at the bar at Wild Goat. I googled "lunch in Petaluma" and this creative menu and great reviews caught my eye so I decided to give it a try. Cannot wait to go back and try chef's other delicious bites. the avocado gazpacho to die for!
The biggest disappointment was that they were unable to offer entrees without garlic, which was not mentioned in the menu. We were able to get the salmon without the garlic sauce but it was bland. Also the carrots were hard and needed to be recooked. The good news was that the beef entree was excellent. None of the desserts were appealing and they did not offer lattes.
Very good place for a quick but satisfying meal. My turkey burger was one of the best ever. The salads are quite good as the ingredients are local fine purveyors. We sat outside which was pleasant but if busy can by noisy. Nice neighborhood place for a casual bite and comfortable surroundings.
Found the recommendation on Open Table for the area. Charming bistro. Very small restaurant and table are cramped due to the small space, with a few tables outside. Our table ordered dried cherry salad, sliders, pesto pizza (with artichoke, roasted tomatoes onions ,olives), and on the specials a shrimp pesto pasta. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. I would return!
Returned after at least a year, and found the food was uneven. Some winners, some so-sos. The server was excellent, gave us time to choose, was not intrusive. I had an heirloom bean and greens small plate, which turned out to be more like a soup. The beans were not fully cooked and the soup liquid was tepid. I also had three sliders. The beef was excellent, as was the homemade catsup, but the aoeli was not strong enough. It came accompanied by tired lettuce, which was not listed on the menu, so actually a pleasant surprse and tasted better than it appeared. My guest was very pleased with his fish entree and sides. We each had a dessert. Wow. Worth a special visit. The cake slices are large, so I took half home. I like the menu and will return, but ask more questions first.
