It’s a major bummer because this used to be a go to for me whenever I worked out of Seattle. Something has definitely changed. Food came out like warm and took over an hour to get entrees. Wasn’t terrible just not was it used to be.
Our first time at Wild Ginger. Not sure I would rush to go back. While the food was very good, it was on the cold side. Took far too long for my glass of wine to arrive. Not once did our server check on us during the meal or pour us more water. An overall disappointment given the hype.
Very disappointing overall.
I reserved a quiet table for 4, but was sat at a table for 6 in the middle of restaurant, even after I pointed out there were several booths for 4 around us that were open. Hostess didn’t seem to care, gave lame excuse. Then I watched her seat several groups of 4 in next few minutes.
We sat for 25 min with no service, not even drinks, except for water, and a waiter who ran by us and said he’s be back!
I had to leave the table and find someone who could help. I asked a man with a headset on to please get us some service. 10 min later a waiter came by, then had to leave again! He finally returned.
I’m a frequent repeat customer, but I’ll think twice before reserving here again. There are other options in the area.
Unique and delicious take on traditional Asian dishes in a modern and trendy space downtown. Attentive service. Highlights include the house special duck and the sea bass lettuce wraps.
Frazzled, poor service both by the Sommelier and waiter
It was wonderful.
Love the fragrant duck and the sea bass with herbs. Gret place to eat after a concert at Benaroya Hall
My friend and I came from Michigan and on our first night we found the Wild Ginger and it was out of this world!! The food was absolutely AMAZING and their wine selection was perfect! I was blown away with the service/food/ambiance. I would definitely recommend it ❤️
Everything was very flavorful. The best dish by far was the Hanoi tuna. A must have.
Love Wild Ginger. Great food and great service. I always feel welcomed and enjoy the food.
As usual, the food at Wild Ginger was excellent, but the restaurant did not seem to run as smoothly as it had during previous meals. Courses were a long time coming. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable, but overlooked small things, like refilling water glasses. Regardless, we'll be back!
Always a must stop when in Seattle. Went for late lunch/early dinner and regular, full menu was not available.
I was seriously disappointed in Wild Ginger. The food was excellent but the service was absolutely terrible. I feel like the servers were trying very hard but were over taxed and trying to serve too many customers. As a result our experience was food not coming, orders missed, incredibly slow responses or refills and huge gaps in timing around courses of food. I would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience. They were much better experiences and values.
Service was erratic, sparkling wine not chilled and our two dishes mediocre. Not the Wild Ginger I enjoyed years ago. Feels like a chain resto.
Delicious food as always. Service was more attentive than usual when it’s busy.
My only complaint is no one refilled my water glass. If the servers and busers can’t refill water, perhaps they could leave a flask of water on the table so we can pour our own.
I last ate here 18 years ago when I used to live in the Seattle area. The food was fantastic as I remembered it. The level of detail that the chefs execute in the balancing of spices and herbs and flavors is several steps above most fine Asian restaurants. The service was decent but a few points worth noting on service... We dined on a night where there was a theater show occurring and the restaurant staff was obviously overwhelmed with the flood of customers who were in a hurry to make their show. Our server took great care of us but he and the other wait staff and two sommeliers had communication troubles and frequently asked us the same questions repeatedly, and they weren’t sure who was in control.
I am a wine collector, and I ordered a bottle of nice wine. But the wine experience was not polished. Again there were two sommeliers who assisted us. There was much confusion between them and uncertainty about who was taking care of what. I noted that Wild Ginger just got a nice full page spread in Wine Spectator magazine. They also have a Wine Spectator “Best of, Award of Excellence.” But our sommelier forgot to show me the bottle (to verify it was indeed the correct bottle I had chosen) before uncorking it. I had to ask to see the label as she was already inserting the corkscrew. Secondly, she uncorked the bottle and then realized she hadn’t even brought me a fresh glass to taste the wine. She had to run get a new glass. When she brought out the “new” glass, it was hot (straight from the dishwasher) and it was covered with warm water droplets (had never been dried). Heat and water drops—Not good for wine. Finally, the wine I ordered would be a wine that most wine folks would consider decanting. The somm again forgot to offer this and I had to ask for a decanter. So, in summary, the wine list is indeed amazing, but my one time wine ordering experience did not live up to the level that I had hoped and that the Wine Spectator rating would have predicted.
Timely attentive conscientious service
Always a great pre-Benaroya option!
Service was great, food good...didn't feel rushed.
Waited 20 minutes for first service once seated before getting up to ask for service. Beverages arrived warm which we returned. Wait staff kept reaching over a wall to take plates. Felt oddly intrusive... Too bad. We used to enjoy this restaurant as a dependable favorite.
Really bad experience. Ordered the three “classic” dishes. None were very good and one was inedible. Pushy annoying service. Just terrible all around.
Reliable tasty food . They really make an effort to be efficient when we are trying to get to a performance at Benaroya.
We pulled up to Wild Ginger and used the Valet parking! We were very impressed with our dinner at Wild Ginger. Our waitress Dell was fabulous. The best I have had in years! The food was amazing, every bite a delight. The Potsticker's are hand made every morning and unlike any I have ever had. Everything was beyond great. Dell asked if we would like out food boxed, we explained we were off to the 5th Ave. She said, no problem, we will hold it here in our fridge, pick it up on your way back! We have never been offered that before! We felt like royalty! The manager looked in on us as well to check how we were doing. We will be back!
Food is always delicious, although service is a bit slow.
First time at Wild Ginger but will be back. Outstanding food and service
Great place for lunch - quick service, delicious food...I loved their seasonal menu!
I'll be back to try additional items on the menu. 3 in our party, all were very satisfied with the meal.
The worst service encountered in the recent years.
Negligence, no taking care of guests, waiting long, no attention.
Food 'so so'. In all: bad bad performance.
Fabulous food and excellent waitstaff. I was thoroughly pleased!!! The seven flavor beef and the lobster and prawn dumpling soup were amazing! I'll definitely be back!!!
Wild Ginger is one of my favorite restaurants. Great food, service and ambiance. It is consistently good in every way and has been for over 30 years. One of he very best!
Forgettable experience - 25 mins went by before we met our waitress. Appetizer showed up an hour and five minutes after we arrived. Dinner showed up an hour and 35 minutes into our evening. A Saturday evening and only 2/3 of the tables were occupied. Live only two blocks away, come here often. Downtown Seattle has way too many other options to endure an evening like this. Sad but I won’t be going back anytime soon.
Appetizer smelled so bad we couldn’t eat. The soup was tasteless. The salmon entree was delicious and my husbands duck was awesome too. Would recommend but did think it was pricy for what we got.
My husband and I were in town for a medical meeting. We ate at Wild Ginger one evening. We both found the service and food outstanding! Also, the surrounding decor was beautiful. We would love to come back here the next time we find ourselves in Seattle.
Wild Ginger continues to be a go to for Pacific Rim yum. Service staff very consistent and cordial. Wonderful flavors in the all the food and great signature cocktails. A great dinner for a reasonable price.
We love the Wild Ginger and like to go often when possible. We always give 5 stars . This trip was good but not excellent as usual. Service was satisfactory but we are so used to great service from all we have every had before. Food was very good, not a 5 this time. We will go back soon though.
Wild Ginger is ALWAYS good. It's been a favorite for years, and it was good this time as well. :)
Service was great and efficient. Food was good, just not amazing.
They do an excellent job of ordering for us - on several occasions now, we’ve simply asked them to just look after our party and feed us family style. That allows us to chat and converse without all the ordering problems, and the food selections are diverse but invariably delicious.
One of my preferred go to places for business dinners.
The Halibut steak melted I. Your mouth with an exquisite intensely flavoured topping... to die for. The lamb was tender and spiced just right. We ended the meal with a Thai sponge cake with a light coconut frosting while sipping on the ginger tea. Fabulous.
The food was great -- I had sea bass and my companion had the house-speciality, roast duck. Both were excellent. The service was good too -- personable and efficient. While the space seemed noisy, we were seated in a booth and had no trouble carrying on a conversation. I would definitely go back to Wild Ginger, and would recommend it to others.
