Birthday - not acknowledged but still awesome
We were a larger group and were seated right away. Our server was great and the food was delicious.
Wild Ginger has an attentive and fun staff as well as excellently prepared Asian food choices. We felt that we received an outstanding value for the moderate amount spent. It was a busy weekend night but we weren't rushed. We will recommend this restaurant to our friends!
We went there for pre-concert dinner. The food was excellent and service was awesome. I definitely recommend!
Always good, great for pre-Symphony or other pre-entertainment meals.
While we had a reservation and were seated right away, the restaurant was quite busy and consequently the initial service was slower than I would have liked. However, the server was excellent: informational and pleasant, and the food was outstanding.
My dad’s birthday celebration. He LOVED everything we had!
Came here for dinner before Hamilton on Saturday night with some friends. Great service and super yummy food, we shared all plates and really enjoyed everything we ordered. Especially the seven flavor beef, Szechuan green beans, and the flank steak off the seasonal menu!
I was disappointed in my dinner, which was an Indonesian curry. It had a strange sauce, very little tofu and was runny and tasteless. It seemed overpriced as you had to pay extra for any rice. Also the decaf coffee was almost undrinkable--in latte land!
A great ambiance for a special occasion. We dined there for my wife’s birthday and the staff were exceptional in making it special. We had our twin 9 year old boys and enjoyed the meal (especially the unique kids menu!)
The food was decadent, a rainbow of flavors for the palette. The tuna was perfect. The steak was spicy and the noodles were flavorful and down to earth. The green beans were awesome! We really enjoyed being able and encouraged to share the food.
We returned to Wild Ginger as part of celebrating my 80th birthday. Having been to Seattle several times and dined here at least three times, we knew what to expect in quality of food and were not disappointed. For openers we had their unique Ginger Martini, Absolute vodka infused with ginger. If you like ginger and enjoy good vodka, this is a must experience. Dinner was superb - especially the shrimp and the tofu entrees. (The limited menu makes it easy to find these delights.) Wild Ginger is a must for Thai food lovers.
My dinner was a "small plate" menu item. It was called Siam Lettuce Cups and it said it was seared sea bass with roasted peanuts, Thai basil, lime juice, chili and tamarind with butter lettuce. Okay, because it said "seared" sea bass I expected the dish to be hot or at least warm. Among by dinner group, several of us thought it would be like fish tacos, but on lettuce not tamales. But here was the problem...everyone else in my group of five women got there dishes and mine was held back. The waitress said it was coming. It didn't come for at least 10 minutes, close to 15. We hailed a waiter. Our waitress came and apologized saying this dish takes more time. Of course no one said that when we ordered. We hailed another waiter. He took charge. Suddenly we had the head guy saying it would happen. Then the waitress delivered the dish and it was cold. I told her to take it back and "nuke' it--microwave it. The head cook came in and said it was dish served at room temps. That they cook it and let it reach room temp. They finally did what I wanted, cooked it to some kind of warm. So the bill arrives and I am charged for the meal. I didn't think much about that and was about to do my tip when my friends asked if I got compt for dinner or even half compt. I said no. They said, don't give a tip. I thought I couldn't blame the waitress, but they said yes, it was her fault not staying on top of things. So I paid without a tip.But still, there ought to have been sme explanation in the description that the dish was served cold, and for me way late!
Worth A Visit
Finally made it to Wild Ginger after several trips to Seattle where other restaurant choices prevailed. Had to wait past reservation time though several tables were obviously available but once seated was very satisfied with food and service.
The food at WG is delicious and the service is very good as well. We had a concert at Benaroya and the waiter made sure to time the meal so we could make the performance. Prices are a bit high but worth it for the quality. Great experience overall!
The food was fantastic as was the service.
Enjoyed the evening. The classic duck dish with steamed buns is always a must. Had a very good Japanese whiskey Manhattan style cocktail, but it would have been better if it had been served up like a traditional Manhattan rather than on the rocks.
We appreciated being seated at a quiet location and the fast service which made it easy for his to get to the theater. We all enjoyed our menu selections, which was good because one person was vegetarian and the other needed gluten-free options.
We went to Wild Ginger prior to seeing a show. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and a fun vibe. It was very busy but we were seated quickly and drink orders were taken. We waited quite awhile to get our drinks but they finally came and we placed our orders. We told the waitress that we were going to a show that evening. In a place like this, it might be nice to have a bit of an intro into the food itself but we all placed our orders. I informed the waitress of my allergy to peanuts but she didn't seem too interested. Usually I get several questions related to severity etc. but there was no follow up.
Our food came but we were missing one person's entree. We informed the person delivering the food and then informed the waitress as well when she came to check on how our meals were. The last entree finally came. We didn't really see the waitress again until she brought our bill. We tried to track her down to ask her to split the bill which took awhile. It was time for us to go so that we could get to the show on time. She brought the revised bill and took credit cards from 3 of us and left to process them. The 4th person didn't get a chance to give her money before the waitress left. I went in search of her but couldn't find her. When she came back, she had decided to split the bill between the cards she was given. I'm not sure why she decided to do that but we had to leave so we grabbed the receipts and left and figured it out later.
Unfortunately, she didn't really seem to care and it left a bad final impression of our evening. The food was really good and I like the restaurant overall but the server definitely put a damper on our evening.
We had a nice time and loved the food awesome spring rolls too a must get
Service was attentive and on point. Food was well prepared and love the family style menu as it is really provides a great opportunity to try a number of items in sitting.
I really love the food at Wild Ginger but I really hate their new management rule that there can be no variations from the printed menu. I used to be able to get a half order of potsticker and now it’s the full order of 6 only . It’s the same with their Szechuan green beans, where, they only serve a full size order. I used to be able to choose the number of their phenomenal lamb chops I wanted and now they set that number to be 3. So while I love their food, I’m really disappointed that I no longer have the ability to get smaller portions.
I was even surprised to see that they now charge for rice.
A special dinner treat after a spectacular show at Benaroya Hall. Our server set the tone with her enthusiasm and knowledge about the menu. She recommended items we absolutely loved based on getting to know our tastes. The food danced on the palate by it's perfectly balanced preparation and presentation. We were told that each dish was meant to be shared and to that point, the portions were well-proportioned and just right. To top off the meal, our cocktails were well-crafted that complimented our food and punctuated a delightful experience.
The chocolate tart was heavenly!!!! And our meal was served very quickly and was quite delicious. I have been to Indonesia and fell in love with the food their and the flavores in our meal took me back there if only for a moment.
It was a girl's night out before the opera we had an amazing dinner and experience at Wild Ginger, Seattle. We had the Sea Bass, Black Peppered Scallops and Szechuan Green Beans, shared the dishes and were amazed at the flavors that touched our palates. The Sea Bass was tender and melted in your mouth and the Scallops were so tender and seasoned to enhance the scallop, not overwhelm it. We were in food heaven.
The service was excellent, our waiter was a real joy to work with and we left with a content stomach and palate. Wild Ginger is our go to place before a show, or when we have out of town guests.
Been eating here for years, never been disappointed. Great spot.
Second time dining at Wild Ginger before an evening at Benaroya...Pad Thai was tasty and well-balanced with noodle to chicken ratio. The Green Papaya salad was a bit spicy for my taste, but we were never offered an option of how spicy. Chicken satay was tender and the peanut sauce was fresh and tasty...just needed more of it. Finished with mango sorbet and coconut ice cream...delicious!
Good place to go mid afternoon - following noon symphony performance. The food is always excellent. The dining room is somewhat cold and sterile feeling. And it can get very noisy during peak times.
Wild Ginger is one of my favorite places in Seattle and never disappoints!!
This restaurant is pretty good with their Thai and Southeast Asian cuisine. Fairly easy on the palate, and the dishes are exotic, tho suited to local tastes.
What I do not particularly like is how the waiters upsell their dishes. Even before we started looking at the menu, the waiter came by and recommended some of his "favorite dishes". Upon looking at the prices of his "favorite dishes", they were up there in the price range.
We ordered 1 appetizer & 2 main dishes for 3 of us. Waiter said it might not be enough, suggested another dish. So while we talked about the green beans vs scallops, he took it that we wanted both.
When the dishes were served, I called him and asked why we had the green beans. He said he heard us saying green beans, and also mentioned that he repeated the order back to us. The waiter wanted to then take the green beans away (!), but we opted to just eat it (not that we were that hungry). He then "volunteered" to remove the dish from the receipt.
Quite frankly...1 appetizer and 2 main dishes were enough for us becos there was noddles and rice. But...as I said, there was the upsell factor and I probably won't want to patronize this venue for a while.
We ordered some of the WG's "favorites," dishes that have on the menu for many years, including the 7-spice beef and the fragrant duck. All dishes were excellent, and the service was attentive without being obsequious. All in all, a great night!
Was not a busy night and was seated in the back room, would have enjoyed being in the main room or upstairs .
Love the Food! Outstanding Wine list!
Disappointing experience - have eaten at WG many times before. It began with our server interrupting us mid-sentence and pushing to up sell an expensive appetizer even though we were in the process of ordering three other appetizers. Our first appetizer arrived before any of our drink order. Three of the main dishes we ordered never arrived and our wait person couldn't have been less concerned about it. We finally gave up and got our check, only to discover we'd nonetheless been charged for all three dishes that never came. When we pointed it out to the server, he merely corrected the bill without any apology, much less, any attempt to rectify our experience. We won't return to WG for a long time.
Disappointed with the beef kim chee fried rice. Lots of rice, small pieces of beef hidden in rice. My cocktail was in a pretty big glass but the alcohol ratio was for smaller glass.
Used to be a top notch restaurant. Now - meh. Lukewarm food, just so-so service. Disappointed.
5 element soup was delicious
The food and service were great. Special touches like the warm wash cloth at the end of the meal were appreciated. Wait staff were attentive yet unobtrusive. On the night we went (March 2) the restaurant was on the chilly side so we opted for hot tea.
Too sweet - could’ve been more spicy for Thai food. Expensive for the amount of food served.
It was all excellent. Just a little loud.
