Wild Canyon Café
Located just off the main New Frontier Lobby, the Wild Canyon Cafe is known for extravagant breakfast and dinner buffets and amazing desserts. This fun wilderness-themed restaurant also has many delicious menu items. Be sure to also try our Wisconsin-Style Fish Fry served every Friday. This delicious cod dinner (Wisconsin beer-battered or baked) is served with choice of potato, or seasonal vegetables and comes with our salad bar. Call 800-867-9453 ext. 4241 for information. Buffet may not be available during low occupancy.
Food was bland and dry for prices we paid. 3 bucks for a kids drink is pretty insane
Food cold took quite some time...... We made a reservation 30,mins after they opened and were told kitchen was 30 mins behind at 530 pm... Finally got food at 630.... Almost everyone's was cold but plates hot......
It was a great buffet for New Year’s Eve!! Was an issue with seating at first but was quickly corrected and we were seating immediately! Great experience
Our experience with Wisconsin Dells is that you don't go there for the food. This restaurant is great if you have little kids. You can choose the buffet (which we did not) or order off the menu. The food was only ok, but the service was excellent and ambiance was perfect for a Friday night in the Dells. Wild animals on the wood beams and the rest of the decor was great for kids. Also not a big rip off like some places in the Dells, prices were not bad!
Gross! I hate buffets
We thought the food was great! Lots of choices and they kept refreshing the buffet. Two of our kids were free because they offer one kid per adult free, I'd say average buffet cost $20/ adult, $7 for kids. Convenient after long day of swimming and good food. Win win:)
Good food but high price.
Food was not that great. We were excited about the buffet and it was not open for breakfast. So we ordered off the menu.
My family and I were on vacation in the Wisconsin Dells and it was challenging to find restaurants that are both family-friendly and good food. This place was, unfortunately, did not fulfill both goals. We chose the buffet. The prime rib ran out more than a hour before closing and the meat in general was oversalted and not very flavorful. The desserts were lackluster as well. The waitress was very nice and helpful. The buffet was cheaper than others, but the food quality reflected this.
Yes it was thanksgiving but waitress never even stopped back to check on us. They were out of turkey. Very disappointed
Too pricey for quality of food - Ponderosa offers a better value
This is a quick and easy place to grab a bite to eat after a long day at the water park. A reservation is a must the later in the evening you wish to eat.
If any of your children have allergies, I WOULD NOT RECOMMNED this place as it has many opportunities for cross contamination.
We were given a list of Dairy Free options for our son to eat from the Manager and our son ended up having a reaction (Dairy?). We had to spend the night in a remote Wisconsin ER.
After our incident, we were told by upper management that this restaurant does not cater to nor has any food preparation policy for people with allergies.
It would have been real nice to know about this before going there!
BTW - We still had to pay for the dinner!!!
Overall it is a nice place for families.
Excellent quality buffet
The worse food I have ever tasted.
Although it is kid friendly, the buffet was downright gross. There were a few heathier options, but every protien was overcooked, chewy, and nasty. The salad bar consisted of iceberg lettuce, some veggies and fatty dressings. They had a taco bar with some unidentifiable things. It was inedible. Don't waste your time or money on this restaurant.
We had the buffet. The food was OK, meaning not bad, but not fabulous either. I would definitely not use the word "extravagant" to describe the buffet. Our 3 kids were free - which was great, BUT, we had 3 paying adults at $20 each, plus the cost of beverages at $2.50 each. The buffet was definitely not worth $20 each. So basically we paid about $13 each & really didn't get the deal of "free kids" because the buffet was worth less than $10 per person. I recommend to others only because of the convenient location of it being on property after a long day at the water parks.
We ordered the Sat. nite buffet, and everything we ate was excellent! The beef-barley soup was wonderful, great variety in the salad bar, deep fried cod was crisp & fresh, chicken & ribs out-standing, etc. The place was filled with young families with many small children, so the noise level was quite high, but the children seemed to be enjoying the children's buffet, set at a level where they could reach the food they wanted. All in all, we had a good experience except for not being able to determine how to get into the restaurant, since the usual entrance had been closed and directions were vague.
For the amount charged, the food was terrible. It was worse than college cafeteria food. I'm never eating at this restaurant again.
We brought guests with us to enjoy the Saturday night buffet, and we weren't disappointed. There is an abundance to choose from; salads, meats, and side dishes. Every item on the buffet was excellent, and our guests were very impressed, too.
This is a great restaurant for families with small children. The buffet was wonderful; there is even a little buffet especially for the kids. Because it's very kid-friendly, expect a lot of crying, screaming and little ones running around.
We chose the Sunday night buffet, and were glad we did. We have never seen such a huge buffet selection (even a special little buffet for kids), and every offering was truly superb from soup to salad to entree to desserts. An example would be the batter fried cod, which would be difficult to serve in a buffet situation. It was fantastic; crunchy, yet moist, with an excellent flavor. We highly recommend Wild Canyon Cafe' and intend to return for another fantastic meal!
