Food was cold for the Sunday Brunch buffet. Service was slow. Asked for medium steak and it was cooked very well done. The server did comp some of the meal and brought me another steak. If the food was warm it would have been a better experience. We will try again in hopes it was just a bad day.
Handy Andy used to rent the top floor for Christmas parties. This is a restaurant with polite very good service and well prepared food. The environment is cozy and relaxed, I felt good eating there on Christmas Day.
Whoever is managing the restaurant is doing a good job.
We went on a Friday night around 630pm. There was 1 server and 1 busboy working! Luckily only 6 tables being used, but I felt bad for the server. She did as good as she could have! The manager came by at two different times and checked to see if everything was going alright (very awkward and rushed interaction as he was spinning his radio around while asking). Clearly his focus was on the bridal party/wedding group in the bar as he didn't help out the server in any way the entire time we were there. The food was pretty good (minus the pizza). We had been here once before and our experience the first time was better but still nothing to rave about. Mostly surprised that on a Friday, with $4 Happy hour food and drink specials, for 3 hours, they could only manage 6 tables in restaurant and actually expected that based on having 1 server staffed.
We celebrated Fathers Day at Whitneys...It was a beautiful setting...Cozy, and eye catching. The waiter was such a positive personality. He kept the atmosphere at a high level. He talked to us and was very pleasant and genuine in his interchange. This is the go to place for intimacy, family gathering, or couple celebration. We will be back again.
Went to the restaurant. Was told to sit anywhere. We did just that. They gave us menus and then came back and said we had to move. We were seated at a table by the window. They said someone just called and wanted all the tables by the windows. We were told they had a buffet available and I said I would have that. We were then told they did not have a buffet. Finally decided just to leave. Felt they did not want customers as the place was empty.
Overall it was a decent experience. However, there was an extra $13 service charge for a selection service buffet. In addition, I ended up giving a tip as well. I also wish the restaurant would have provided a small container for carryout. So with that said, we. did not get our money's worth.
I was very disappointed with this restaurant. It was a brunch and the food was cold. I found two ants crawling on the serving spoons and when I told one of the hostess, he took his time to come and remove the spoons. The servers were not attentive and had to be reminded several times what we asked for. They ran out of apple juice that my daughter requested. The desserts were not inside the restaurant but outside in the hallway and they were not covered. They were very hard and dried out. The same with the rolls, fruit, salad; I think these items should have been covered in some way. It was the worst Mother's Day Brunch I have ever experienced and will not return or recommend this to anyone.
We arrived on time for our reservation no one came to our table for a half hour and it wasn't that busy servers were standing around, finally the bus boy took our order. Food was cold, obviously not fresh when we asked to receive warm food they gave us Tator tots instead of fresh hot hash browns. Water downed mimosas because the were free I imagine. We get our bill and the charged us for a child (which 12 & under are free according to the reservation and promotion online) and $30 for service. I tried to explain to the hostess the mistakes and That we are not paying for service we did not receive, while explaining to her the issues she answers the phone completely ignoring me. I had to ask for her manager which he took care of everything. That hostess should be let go, she was Very disrespectful to other customers and for the money you spend here totally not worth bad good, bad service and Very bad customer service beware. One star is not worthy but you can't submit without adding
We were seated close to the buffet but not so close that we felt crowed. There was plenty of room to navigate. My only complaint was that by the time we hit the salad bar there was only greens left. The other salads were gone. The service was efficient without hovering.
It was the most disappointing "brunch" I have ever been to. Having a U-shaped area with fruit plates by the hot food and regular plates by the fruit was an indicator that disappointment was imminent. Touted as "the best brunch" would have only been true if cold cereal with stale milk was the alternative. Absolutely NOTHING about this venue was anything but below average . Sorry I wasted a family holiday here.
Very unhappy with 1st waitress. She didn't seem to understand basic language for
waiting on tables....(still water vs sparkling water, didn't know if they served bottled water,...) Could not clearly explain special "Restaurant Week Menu" Took a long time to check on us.
Actually it's funny that you've asked if I would recommend Whitneys because today at our Senior mtg I did just that. I really enjoyed my lunch there and would definitely go back. Our group is located in the vicinity and area always looking for places to go. Thanks so much for the chance to check Whitneys out.
Very much surprised. Never know what to expect on a holiday - maybe slow service, maybe server rushing you out the door to make room for another customer, cold food or all of the above. However, our server was great, we were not rushed at all, food was hot, delicious, and plenty of it. Happy that Whitney's offered a senior discount even on a holiday as there were 3 seniors in our group.
This is a nice place to dine and could be even nicer if they would hire more wait staff and cooks and stop working the few faithful to death. They never have enough service/cook personnel although they know Sunday brunch time is extremely popular and busy and the number of customers who come as no surprise. Though it's a buffet, and folks help themselves to the food, there is yet a need for wait staff and more than one beat-down chef! They shoot themselves in the foot because of this.
Had Thanksgiving dinner here - reservation was for 5:30 p.m. Our server was very good and attentive and food was good, but empty tables around us were not cleared from earlier diners. Buffet area from earlier in the day was cleared, but not very attractive to look at. Would suggest a screen of some type. Seemed like they were just waiting for us to leave, so they could set-up for the next day.
We did the Sunday brunch and found the food to be fresh and well prepared. There were minimal selections although all were quite tasty. However, the hash browns were, at best, a tepid temperature. One major complaint was that our waitress was most inattentive. When we were able to locate her she was chatting with other staff or spending a lot of time chatting at nearby tables and we had to summon her to our table. We had not been to Whitney's for some time, however I think we will try a return visit for lunch or dinner. Hopefully, we will secure a more attentive wait staff.
About the only complaint I have is with the hostess' lack of customer service. She definitely requires training or retraining. My wife and I were not greeted with a smile or pleasant demeanor. She was not conversational, and even after I had mentioned that i had a reservation under Open Table, she never referred to me by name. Allgauer's in Alsip provides that exact service. On to the wait staff. She was extremely accommodating and very professional, all while being very pleasant. The food was excellent. My wife had the Eggs Benedict and I chose the buffet. The buffet was always well stocked, and everything tasted fresh and cooked just right. The eggs, French Toast, fruit selection were delicious. I have to mention the bacon. It had a hint of smokiness that tasted as though it was cooked with actual hardwood and didn't simply have flavor added. I recommend having breakfast at Whitney's.
