Whitfield, led by Pittsburghers Executive Chef Bethany Zozula and James Beard award-nominated Pastry Chef Casey Renee, serves fare from Western Pennsylvania. With influences culled from the rich and varied culinary traditions of the region's Polish, German, Eastern European, Italian and Jewish settlers, Whitfield's menu honors Pennsylvania's cultural heritage, bountiful agriculture and distinct way of life.

The menu changes with the seasons, but always features hearty, farm-driven food sourced from local ranches, purveyors and artisans. Our steaks are our forte, grass-fed, grass-finished, butchered in-house, dry-aged for 21 days and meant to be shared.

We are open daily for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner, along with weekend brunch.

Whitfield was named to Bon Appetit's 2016 "Best New Restaurants" list.

Food was fantastic. Service was poor. Sat down and was not brought water for 10/15 minutes until our waitress came over. Didnt have much to say. Introduced herself and that was all. Gave us menus and left again for
another 15 minutes. Ordered and waitress seemed annoyed when asking for a couple substitutions due to
vegan/vegetarian restrictions. Was a birthday occasion and nothing was done, not even a happy birthday
from waitress. Would go again for food, not for experience.

Everything was great except my wife didn’t like the pork it had too much fat. We must have gotten a bad piece. Other than that try the Dinner Rolls they are amazing.

The food and wine were very good, but the noise level was so high, I would not go back.

Great neighborhood restaurant with a vibrant atmosphere - lively but the tables are far enough apart so you can have a conversation. Started off with cocktails, and the waitress recommended the new Queen Bee, which was a great choice. Food never disappoints. The filet was cooked perfectly, and the carrots are amazing. Highly recommended.

Was looking for a brunch spot for Saturday and happened to remember about Whitfield since visiting for cocktails and a snack before. Everything was on point from the drinks, starter and our entrees. Our server Fred was great as well as very informative. We shall be back again soon for brunch as well as try dinner since hearing they have special lamb nights.

Menu items were hit and miss. Some were excellent. Others were very bland. Service had the same mixed quality, and was at times attentive, while also managing to forget pieces of our order (which they did comp).

Best steak we've ever had (and I'm not a steak person), great cocktails, devastating rhubarb/caramel dessert I'm still thinking about two days later. Service was slow at times and it was *really* cold where we were seated. Neat building and loved the Teenie Harris photos in the stairwell. Easy to do a reasonably priced dinner out or a blowout meal, which we appreciate. We'll be back for sure.

Met a friend at the Whitfield for a monday night dinner. Arrived a little early for our reservation, and told it would not be ready. Waited 15 minutes past the reservation time, still no table, so we headed to the bar for drinks. There were no seats available there either, but the drinks were pretty good. The Ace was hosting a dodgeball tournament that night, so the entire room was filled with people screams and constant whistle blowing. It would have been funny, if it had just been a few minutes, but it soured the evening quickly.

Finally got seated a little more than half an hour late, and got presented with lightly printed menus in tiny font and only a tea candle for light. I usually laugh at people using their phones to read menus, but almost became one that night. Our server was quick and fairly attentive, though he had to scream over the noise of the room and even basic communication was challenging.

We got the butcher's plate to start, and it was well done. Some cured meats, terrines, and such, all well executed. Save one, every other item on the plate was pickled, which would become a theme. I love pickles, but the acidity level of the plate became overwhelming. Our entrees were duck over spaetzle, and a rabbit sausage stroganoff. The duck was almost unseasoned and oddly overcooked, while the spaetzle & confit under it were lovely, but acidic. My friend's stroganoff was great, but for some reason had been piled with pickled radishes, which were overwhelming. I love creative food, and eat most anything, but ordering a warm, rich dish and being served something covered in very acidic slaw is unwelcome.

The server was apologetic about the food, and comped one dish (without being asked) as well as applying a discount. We'll try it again, as friends seem to love it, and hope this was a freak occurrence.

We were three for lunch and had the roast beef, the cob salad, and another salad type. Portions were large, and the salads were very good for what they were. The roast beef stood as something done in a unique way and was great.

We ran late for our reservation but called and let them know we would be 15 min late and they sat people and we had to wait 20 minutes for a table- no biggie. Then my medium rare $42 filet was over cooked so we sent it back- it took SO long to get the replacement- my date was done eating for long before I got it. It took way longer than it takes to grill a filet. They did comp our bill 15% and they were nice about it but to spend that much and not have it right the first time is a shame. I get filet a lot at restaurants and I can tell without cutting into it if it is overdone...anyway- I don’t usually have that problem. Very cool place- trying really hard to be cool.

Whitfield is a remarkably good restaurant. The black cod I had was the best fish dish I have ever had in Pittsburgh...period. I highly recommend this place. I hope Whitfield is here for a long, long time.

Great food and bar snacks for appetizers. Shared the NY strip which was great. Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, and deviled eggs were fantastic! Cocktails were good but a bit on the small size and expensive. Prices on website are not accurate. Smaller r Styron so make reservations. Noise doesn’t bother us but we felt like we were being too loud for the table close to us. Would go back

The Whitfield continues to angle towards becoming my go-to for people-watching and great food. My fiancé and I had an early dinner there on Sunday and ordered the cheeseburger, buttermilk fried chicken salad, and a side of fried brussels sprouts (amazing) and mushrooms (unmemorable). The burger was very well-seasoned, moist and a perfect mid rare; the fried chicken must have been brined and soaked in buttermilk prior to frying because it was the most juicy chicken I've had in recent memory. I was surprised when I saw that the salad was served Pittsburgh style (coated in a bed of fries), but said fries were twice-fried, crisp and delicious, so color me happy. Great service as always, and some of the most diverse and eclectic gathering of people in Pittsburgh.

What a great dinner! While we tried Whitfield for the steaks we’ll come back mainly for the Mac n Cheese and chocolate cake. Everything was amazing but those were above and beyond. It’s like your moms home cooking but elevated in technique. Loved it!
