Good food, very trendy, but the wait for our dinner was extremely long. The restaurant tried to make up for it by comping our wine and dessert but nobody wants to wait an hour and 20 minutes for dinner when you don't get to the restaurant until 7:45. Great use of an old building
We normally take our out of town guests to eat here. We were there on Monday night and experienced very bad service. The waitress might have been new, but could barely keep the order straight. We suspect she forgot to turn it in because we waited over 45 minutes for the food. One guest ordered soup, which never arrived, but for which we were charged. It was so challenging to converse with the waitress we just gave up and paid the bill. I'll give it one more chance, but if we meet with the same kind of service, I'm going to strike it off my department's list of 'go to' restaurants for guests.
Our server was great. Host was great. Food was great. Vibe was great. Not as loud as past times I’ve been there which was great. Could hear convos much better this time. 👌🏼 Beer fest in the gym was interesting. There are always interesting events going on there which is cool. You should feature more local music somehow 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
All around great night - Food, service and fun! We'll be back!
Loved the vegetation tasting menu - very yummy and great value! Cocktails were also delicious, good wine selection. Will be back!
Very fun restaurant, trendy hotel with interesting spaces, will definitely go back.
We went to Whitfield for my wife’s birthday. We enjoyed everything from the cocktails to the appetizers to the main course, and especially desert. Nothing was less than exceptional. The noise level was moderate, but not bothersome (a bit like white noise). We had a terrific server. The deserts are truly a standout. We will definitely be back.
Both my wife and I really enjoyed the food and would highly recommend the duck and rabbit entrees. The service was solid, the server knowledgable, helpful, and not over bearing.
Wonderful meal. Vegetarian entree was great as was the black cod.
The food was top notch, every single thing we had was fabulous. Not to mention the desserts were easily the best in the city .
Waiter was unfriendly. Never introduced himself and never checked on us. Service was slow. My son never received sauce for his steak and our Brussels sprouts came out when we were done eating. We starting clearing our own plates since no one came to clear them. No one seemed concerned. Will not return.
My wife and I went here for dinner before a concert. The drinks and appetizers were excellent, and the main dishes were top notch. Our server was informed, professional, and very helpful. While the restaurant was busy we didn't find the noise level too high or disturbing. Wonderful decor and setting. Very much a meat-centric place, but the Trout was excellent as well. A very interesting, though somewhat pricey, wine list. Highly recommended.
Everything we had was amazing. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes! My favorite dish from our brunch was the duck leg confit.
I should start with saying how much I like what Ace Hotel does. The Whitfield breakfast was simply delicious and as good as everything else was everyone wished they had ordered it as their course. I’ve never seen a pancake like theirs and have no idea how they get it that thick and still the texture of a pancake-just awesome. Oh, and the specialty coffees are a must.
Had a fantastic dinner at Whitfield. Loved the cozy vibe and great cocktails. I had a steak recommended by the server and my wife had a smoked chicken. Food was delicious and perfectly prepared. We will definitely be back.
Overall, Whitfield was great. Didn’t take much time to find parking nearby. We were seated pretty quickly. The food was amazing, and the waitress was able to help make recommendations. If I made any complaints it would be the coffee tasted a bit burnt, and it was unbelievably loud, but I’m really digging at that point. I’d 100% return.
The Whitfield is great for those living in the East End, and for a special occasion. It is loud, and the tables are often very close, and so it's not the most intimate dining experience, but it's great food. Steaks are large and very well prepared.
Great time as always .Enjoyed wine recommendation of a Lebanese red blend that otherwise we would not have tried . I enjoyed the rabbit pasta entre and others had the black cod and tenderloin. The brussel sprouts may be the best item on the menu ; can't help but order each time there regardless of the main course selection.
Great place for people watching, well-mixed cocktails and a diverse menu with lots of high-low options (beautifully roasted pork shank entree juxtaposed with cheese balls and corn dogs on the beer menu). Suffice it to say there's something for everyone at the Whitfield! I was also particularly impressed with the caliber of the desserts, whose flavors were inventive and whimsical.
Wonderful service and AMAZING foood. Can’t wait to go back!
One of the brightest stars of Pittsburgh's hot dining scene, and the most reliable.
We loved all the dishes: spicy greens salad, lamb leg starter, beef tartar, duck breast, smoked chicken, black cod. Service also had been very accommodating to one of us with lactose intolerance and other two splitting everything (kitchen did it for us!).
Josh the server was very nice and helpful.
I just booked it again for Sunday brunch!
Thank you for a wonderful food!
Absolutely wonderful. As always.
Just so so good. Save room for desert, you must eat it all.
In the Ace Hotel, but so lovely. Went for brunch. The space is bright and cozy at the same time somehow. The food was good. My bacon was a bit overdone, but the fresh bread and jam was amazing!!! Would definitely go back again.
Outstanding food, good service. The noise level was a bit high, but I prefer that to a deathly quiet place with no energy.
Food was delicious. Our waiter was amazing. Excellent service. The bar service was slow. Otherwise we had a fantastic dinner.
Stellar job per usual. Whitfield remains my all-time favorite restaurant.
Loved it. Did the four course Valentine's day menu and every course was perfect. Our waiter was friendly and had great cocktail recommendations. Was very pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back. :)
This was our second time dining at Whitfield and I am delighted to report that it was very good just as it was on our first visit. The menu is a bit slanted in favor of the meat-eater but otherwise all items I have tried were very good. This visit I had the black cod and it was very tasty and cooked to perfection.
I've been here for dinner before and it's kind of noisy+pricey. But breakfast on a random weekday is heavenly!!! Quiet, delicious and fun!
I like the atmosphere. The food was very good. It is too loud! The bench seats are uncomfortable. will come back.
Excellent service and a phenomenal steak.
Excellent food, excellent service. Second trip in two weeks, what a find! Dinner for six with two birthdays was very enjoyable. One caveat: wine by the bottle seemed overpriced.
Their drink game is weak
Great Service, unique, local, and tasteful food. Perfectly prepared
A "hip" ambience appropriate to an Ace hotel, but millenials through baby boomers will feel at home. I had a black cod with pomegranate and it was amazing--cooked to perfection; my dining mate had smoked chicken with parmeson risotto and found it totally excellent. The passion fruit bombe was also excellent. Service was attentive.
