The menu changes with the seasons, but always features hearty, farm-driven food sourced from local ranches, purveyors and artisans. Our steaks are our forte, grass-fed, grass-finished, butchered in-house, dry-aged for 21 days and meant to be shared.
We are open daily for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner, along with weekend brunch.

Excellent food, excellent everything.
Consistently good as always. We had cocktails from the bar, the egg plate, the house pickles, followed by the chef’ steak which was perfectly prepared. My friend had the smoke chicken which is always good. And we tried some new sides, the kale and eggplant. Wine and dessert, all excellent.
The Whitfield always has wonderful food. Our server, who has waited on us before, is gracious, efficient and unobtrusive. This restaurant is a favorite of ours.
Great time. Loved the food
We had a delicious vegetarian dinner in which each dish was unique, had delectable flavors, and was just the right amount of food. The service was great and it is always a fun atmosphere to be in.
Love it! It was my 3rd time back! Love the food, the service is excellent, and the ambience is very quirky!
Great food, comfortable surroundings and good service. A little over the top on the hipster quotient.
I like this place very much. Always good service and food. Very pleasant atmosphere.
The ambience was very nice but the food was underwhelming. My pancake was undercooked, the roast beef sandwich was dry and over cooked.
The food was good but we had to wait for our dishes to arrive and I had to return my pancake bc it was underdone. They brought another one free of charge. It was good. Service was good too.
It was Father's Day and they did not service brunch until after 10am (we had reservations at 9:30 and waited over 10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table). The food was mediocre.
My tenderloin steak was awesome. But the best part was the desert. Best chocolate cake I have had in decades. The real deal. Highly recommend.
Our ribeye, the mac n cheese, broccoli, special bread, and my ipa were perfect for our 51st anniversary...
This was one of the best meals I have had since my move to Pittsburgh (4 years ago). I was incredibly impressed by the delicious meal (lamb sirloin roast) and service. I can’t recall the name of our server but she was a thin girl with short brown hair, a bit soft spoken, but she was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable of the menu and items and was so sweet and charming. I have already recommended this restaurant to two other friends since our recent visit and will be sure to tell more about this gem! Thank you for a wonderful meal! Please don’t change a thing here, you guys rock!!
Also, when making the reservation I noted we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and our host and server both said “Happy Birthday” immediately to him. This made him feel so special, so thank you for that!
Amazing customer service. Our large party had inadvertently made our reservation for the wrong day; the staff was unflapped, very accommodating. Our server was very helpful and informative. When our favored dessert was unavailable, he brought us a full selection of other desserts on the house. Thank you, Whitfield and everyone at Ace.
Whitfield is a charming, funky restaurant that serves classic dishes with a modern twist. The food is delicious and plentiful. My steak was cooked to perfection and the accompanying grilled escarole and fingerling potatoes were deliciously seasoned and prepared. The vibe in the restaurant was fun, trendy and laid-back. The service was lovely. My cheesecake dessert was light and airy and added just the right ending to a fabulous meal. I would highly recommend trip to this restaurant.
Holy cow, the brunch was incredible--the food, the coffee, the cocktails--all spectacular. I love the cool vibe at the Ace. The staff are fun and stylish, and you get to feel pretty cool while you're there, too.
Incredible food in a lively and relaxed atmosphere. Delightful service makes Whitfield one of the all time greats. My only peeve - and it was bad - was the AC: WAY TOO COLD. Couldn't stay for dessert!
Always enjoy their food and drinks...nice vibe and quality experience...we might actually stay a night for fun at the Ace - even though we live in town!
Excellent location for Sunday breakfast or brunch.
Service was very good.
A little expensive -$60 for 3 people, but worth it!
The water glasses had a humid smell - a turn off.
The pancake was terrific and the coffee was outstanding.
We always have a great experience at the Whitfield. The food is great and the cocktails are fun. Depending on what you get, you can get a wonderful meal for a pretty great value, given the quality of the food. Plus! You can take your bones home and make a DELIGHTFUL stock.
Very cool spot in an eclectic area of the city. The staff is great and the food is solid from top to bottom. The options of old school favorites and new takes on some of the brunch items is a perfect mix. I’m a repeat customer.
When we received our payment receipt, it was an amount far below what it should have been. We got it corrected, but the reason this happened should be discovered and fully prevented in the future.
Good food, good service, nice atmosphere. A neighborhood place with a foodie menu.
We have been here countless trips for breakfast but this was our first dinner.
The server was so welcoming and warm. We were talking and didn’t realize how
Much time had passed when we were told that there was some confusion with our meals.
Our meals arrived in a bit and were all amazing -our desserts were on the house . Lovely restaurant, food and Service. Plan to visit again soon 😊
The food is great. We were looking for a carnivore-centric menu, and restaurant does their own butchering and charcuterie. The charcuterie app plate and the porterhouse steak (which 3 of us shared) both did the trick. The service was friendly and professional. The room has an updated retro charm, and it is loud and happening.
Great meal! Great service! Excellent time. Quote from my dad , “best meal I ever had at the Y.”
We were there on a Monday night, so it was probably quieter than it would be on a busier night. The food was excellent, well prepared and creative (e.g., the "wedge" salad was actually half a small head of iceberg served like a bowl, with a light, not gloppy, blue cheese dressing). I could have used a tiny bit more of the dressing, but overall it was a very successful dish, with pork belly lardons instead of simple bacon bits. The meat was cooked exactly how we asked for it -- actually rare, not medium rare -- and the dessert (strawberry rhubarb pie) was beautifully presented and properly prepared, not overly sweet. We loved the grilled escarole, too. Our server was pleasant and helpful, but not too obtrusive.
Whitfield is my go-to for everything--parents visiting, brunch, casual dinner, drinks with friends. Where else can you listen to Mariah Carey on a turntable?
Nice place, but noisy. Food is very good. We had trout that was well prepared.
I took my office to lunch and I was disappointed. The Cobb Salad was a misnomer. There was hardly anything in it. I had to ask for the avocado. But the whole salad was not worth anything. The shrimp I ordered with it for another 8$ were good. Plus they have decided not to offer some of the desserts from the evening menu during lunch. I had told them how good the bombe was and the lemon dessert. All in all, I would not go back for lunch.
Birthday celebration. Eclectic space . Fresh tasting cocktails . Waitstaff attentive yet not intrusive. Smoked trout , smoked chicken dinners excellent. Different tastes and textures complimented well. Truffles intensely chocolate - delicious! Get a Cosmopolitan!
My wife and I went on a Wednesday night for the Lamb series dinner. From the beginning service was timely. the server was very informative suggesting the lamb neck over the shank saying it had more meat. It was delicious and hearty. The server informed us that the chef had missed our dinner order so our main courses would be delayed, but more than make up for it with a complimentary order of charcuterie. the Jamison lamb was superb. We had very good reasonably priced wine by the glass. Can't wait to go back again for the lamb series.
We always enjoy our visits to the Whitfield. All of the staff, from when you enter the restaurant until the time you leave are all incredibly polite and attentive. I brought my mother here for Mother's Day since its her favorite place to eat when she's here in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, our server was not very good. It was unfortunate that other staff, who were busy with their own responsibilities also had to pick up the slack with our table. I was disappointed because the subpar service from our assigned server upset my mom on what was supposed to be her day.
Great all around experience, as is usual for Whitfield.
Great for brunch. Interesting food choices and a nice fun atmosphere.
I would definitely go back for drinks and apps but I found the main dish too salty. I appreciated the bartender adjusting the drink I ordered to my preference (I dislike grapefruit) and the portion sizes for sides and apps are generous. I will absolutely go back.
It was wonderful as usual. My mom loves this place and we came here to celebrate her birthday. Food, drinks, and desert were delicious. Fred, as well as all of the service staff took great care of us
Always a great experience whenever I visit.
