The menu changes with the seasons, but always features hearty, farm-driven food sourced from local ranches, purveyors and artisans. Our steaks are our forte; grass-fed, grass-finished, butchered in-house, dry-aged for 21 days and meant to be shared.
We are open daily for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner, along with weekend brunch.

I dine out a lot A. Lot. Have been here many times. Our service on Saturday was excellent.Server was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Person who ran the food was also very good. And the food and drinks were wonderful. Love coming here and looking forward to a return visit. Thanks!
The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the ambiance is a tiny bit lacking
Only issue was steak was way too rare. Took long time to get apple pie. Otherwise we love the place!
Another solid and consistent meal for four. Appetizer fried green tomatoes with tzatziki sauce were superb. Assorted entrees from gnocchi, sea bass, chicken all very good. Bar menu steak nicely medium rare but tough and not much taste. Fries were superb. Good service. A bit noisy but that's the way US restaurants are.
Whitfield has a really pleasant mix of bright and buzzy ambiance, quality food options, and interesting people-watching that make this a great brunch spot. We loved the donut holes, which featured an almond creme filling, the super crispy bacon, the delicious coffee, and the well-seasoned breakfast potatoes.
I thought the brunch was outstanding. Maybe, the best eggs that I've had in a really long time. Service was exceptional. The only issue...Noise level was annoying..almost impossible to talk over. Accessibility is an issue for those of us over 70. Adding a post at the first flight of steps would be a bonus.
Went for brunch. Service was good. Very noisy. Most of the dishes were very salty.
Really wonderful food, attentive service and cool atmosphere.
The food was really good! We ordered tomato basil salad and the beef tartare as our appetizers, they were well done! And I ordered the duck breast as my entree and the combination of the sauce and the meat is terrific. My boyfriend ordered the smoked chicken and the chicken was beautifully cooked. The dessert was also wonderful.
Excellent ambiance, great food & over-the-top service. Our server, Jack, was extremely attentive & really made our experience memorable. Looking forward to returning to Whitfield in the near future
Very, very noisy (loud!)... unfortunate.
There was a wedding being hosted at the same time as our meal, which was extremely loud and impacted our meal, but after a certain point they either quieted down or closed the doors. The food wasn't as good as I was expecting given the reviews I read, however that may also have been impacted by the wedding as well. I'd be willing to give it another try but overall was okay
Food was excellent. I had the smoked trout and my husband had the lamb special. Both were so good! Also really loved the coffee but the desserts were so so. Looked pretty but cheesecake was lackluster and olive oil choc cake didn’t have good flavor.
The Whitfield is a very unique location, situated in the ACE hotel in Pittsburgh. The building is a converted YMCA and the restaurant is located in the lobby. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped us to make a decision about what to order. My wife and I ordered the bone marrow for an appetizer (pictured). We then split the 32oz Ribeye, which was cooked to perfection medium-rare. We had french fries and sauteed mushrooms/onions as our side. The food was fantastic. I can't recommend this place enough!
The steaks are awesome! Also love the shishito peppers
Waitstaff was inattentive - my soup was served before our cocktail! Waiter said "I can't control what the kitchen does" - bad answer. Don't dis your colleagues to your customers.
Noise level was too high to have conversation without straining or shouting.
Just go there for a drink...
Overpriced and just average or below food quality.
Need more bone marrow please.
The service, food and dining experience was top rate.
I thought Whitfield was great - the ambience is classy but not snobby and the food and service were great. Would recommend to anyone.
I was here several times and it is, as always, the Best in town!
The Whitfield food and service and ambiance is tremendous. The only negative is the noise level--noise from the lobby can be intrusive.
Consistently wonderful. Love
Great food. Drinks were delicious. They do kind of seat close to other tables so you can hear other conversations very clearly. The food is worth it.
Very enjoyable and relaxing. The service was laid back, but first class
First time. A bit noisy but service was very good and food was delicious.
I like the Ace. Good solid restaurant offering good and surprising new dishes and drinks
Creative will mix flavors great menu definitely be back
Our waitress in the restaurant was very sweet and attentive. We really liked her and she provided excellent service. The two men at the host stand were beyond nice as well. However, when we were starting with drinks in the bar, our bartender was straight out RUDE. I couldn't figure out why, just in an absolute poor mood. He treated us like an inconvenience and a total bother and refused to look us in the eye. I thought maybe I was being sensitive until my guy friend mentioned it to me when we got up. Very low class service. I wouldn't judge the entire place off of him..I have been to the Ace for night time events and drinks and always had friendly service. I'd love to check out brunch as well as I've heard it's excellent. I would recommend to management to reprimand him though..wish I caught his name but he was African American and had his nails painted black. Very off putting.
A modern place in a boutique hotel built in an old YMCA building, the food is interesting, they have a good variety of options and novelty in flavors.
The food was good. As the building was converted from the old YMCA building there are remnants of the old building visible in the flooring and walls.
Birthday dinner at The Whitfield was a resounding success. Delightful semi-private table, informative and enthusiastic staff, excellent food quality. Note: it's a noisy place, so be aware of that if sensitive to louder dining environments.
Should try and keep the menus "on line" up to date. We looked forward to the pork chop and the wedge salad but then they were not on the menu. PS: I know I am old fashion but would prefer not to have to look at all the piercings on the waiters.
The Whitfield restaurant is inside the Ace Hotel, which is a YMCA converted into a hotel. I loved that we could make a reservation and did not have to wait for a table. The restaurant looks small, but the tables were still spaced far enough apart from other breakfast goers. I ordered the fluffy Russian blueberry pancakes. Fluffy...yes! But flavor-wise, they just tasted like a greasy griddle. However, the warm donut holes were the real MVPs! Warm yeasted donuts freshly fried, rolled in sugar and filled with a vanilla bean pastry creme. Absolutely delicious!
Server had a little attitude. Server had a little attitude.
Food was average and the service was okay. You felt as though you were sitting in a cafeteria. I’d make this a second choice, or a plan B, for dinner.
The steak and the vegan dessert were beyond excellent.
Excellent and savory food, very nice menu, casual and unassuming room, great service.
Food was delicious and service was great. I love the ambience, but my only complaint is that it was a little too loud.
We have been to the Whitfield four or five times in the last two months and it keeps drawing us back. It has become our favorite place for meat. We have had the ribeye for two several times and various cuts of lamb for the lamb dinner series. It all tastes fresh, is cooked perfectly and is properly seasoned. Vegetable sides and sauces are excellent. The wines are very good and reasonable priced. The service has been excellent, friendly but not overbearing. My only complaint, and this is not restricted to the Whitfield, is that sometimes the air conditioning is intensely cold.
