OpenTable Diner (Los Angeles)

The service, for dinner, was attentive and quick unlike the service for breakfast which was neither. We ordered the calamari appetizer which was cooked well and nicely seasoned. The mixed green salad was the size of an entree which some might enjoy but we thought we’d ordered an appetizer salad. The cost was around $13.00 which seemed very high for some mixed greens and a few cherry tomatoes. The salmon entree is where things went really wrong. The salmon was breaded but the breading was not crisped at all. It was like eating soggy bread crumbs, not good. The salmon was lukewarm although cooked through. The entrees also came before before we were even close to being done with our appetizers so fired way too early. We told them to take them back until our appetizers were done. The food was stuck under a heat lamp which probably lead to the lukewarm fish. The salmon came with roasted root vegetables which were not caramelized but instead, burnt. They were inedible. The dish was a huge disappointment. We also ordered a burger which was well cooked even with sitting under the heat lamp. The pickle served alongside was delicious. Our dessert, ice cream and cookies, was the best part of the meal although it could’ve served 4 people. It’s way too big for a single serving, and sold as such kind of grotesque. It’s two chocolate chip cookies as large as an adult hand with 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream. Who doesn’t love chocolate chip cookies and ice cream but it should be listed as a dessert for two, at least! The drinks came quickly, the food too quickly, the value mixed and the service/kitchen timing needs work.

Delicious food and excellent service. Brussels sprouts and rib eye the best. Will go again. Take reservations on Open Table. Supposed to have great happy too, but got there too late.

Very basic expensive restaurant having nice surroundings with a very high noise level. Weekends are especially bad since the number of people eating there are young kids. Staff indicated that on most weekends it would be wise to wear ear plugs or shooting headphones. The food is for the most part is excellent in taste but very expensive since every thing is ala-carte. There are many better places to eat in Mammoth Lakes at a much lower price. The atmosphere that your eating in is great during the week but not on the weekend.

We celebrated a couple of adult birthdays at Whitebark while visiting Mammoth. The ambiance was very nice, the waitress (wish I could remember her name) was amazing, very open about what was really good, and also those that were not as recommended. We enjoyed several appetizers, which were large portions, and some of our party just ordered small plates after the appetizers, and we all had plenty of good food.

The new executive chef has created a different Whitebark that I will no longer be going to. Serious decline in menu.

7 people for Mother's birthday. Nice menu with choices for all. Had the pork belly, with an unusual presentation, but yummy. My NY strip was cooked a perfect medium-rare! The server was great. She was on her A game, very friendly and knowledgeable.

Good choice of appetizers and mains. creative cocktails and wine list. Kids liked the burgers and tomatoe soup, we shared the lamb shank and polenta. Better food then any options in Mammoth village.

Service was terrible. Although we had a reservation, we had to wait 15+ minutes for someone to set a table for us. Waitress was terrible. Food was ice cold.

Christmas vacation in Mammoth. Starters: edemame and Brussels. Perfect, not over seasoned...the veggies shinned. New York steak and greens salad, meat cooked to perfection. Mac & cheese w/bacon bits (chunks), creamy deliciousness. The pot pie was a comforting, flaky pastry atop a delightful blend. 3 cheese plate with honey, olive tapenade, cranrasins, sugared walnuts (subtle not overdone)...would like a goat chee or blue to balance the mild Brie.

No more sushi? We come to this restaurant every year, but something has changed drastically with Whitebark! It is not at the same level it once was. I would not go back the food was disappointing.

We’ve been here every year since it opened, this would be the first time that we are disappointed with the service and food. Our waitress had no personality. If she didn’t want to work on Christmas Eve, then she shouldn’t show up with a long face. The food used to be good here, but the quality went down and the choices from appetizers to entree were marginal. I hope this is a one off, because this would be sad for us who came here every Christmas Eve for a celebration dinner.

Take note, Whitebark no longer serves sushi! We went in to have sushi and was very disappointed to find they no longer offer sushi. The rest of the menu was OK. Our server could care less that we were disappointed and the service was not great. They did have good gluten free options.

Unfortunately we had to send our dishes back, cold plates, cold polenta & overdone filet mignon. Our server made it right but we heard new menu, no sushi bar which is fine but they need to get it together

We’ve been to this restaurant twice and have had the same experience both times. Our server had too many tables and couldn’t provide good service to anyone. It took almost 10 minutes from when we were seated to when someone said hello and offered to serve us. I ordered the tomato basil soup (easy enough) and it came out luke warm... my husband’s sushi was good. We were a little annoyed in the end. We don’t get out for date nights very often, so this felt like an expensive mistake.

The fried brussels sprouts are amazing, and our shishito peppers were good as well. Unfortunately, our entrees were not quite as delicious - I had the salmon with peach BBQ sauce and my rice was undercooked. I would recommend trying sushi and vegetable appetizers/sides.

We unfortunately went here for a our 45th Anniversary dinner. I had the pork loin, and my wife had the roast chicken. Both were mediocre. Our server was inattentive. Even if the food were better, they have a very small selection of entrees. The wine was the best part of dinner. Not recommended.

While staying at the Westin my wife and I had dinner at the Whitebark. The restaurant is on the main level of the resort. It also has a bar that was rather loud.
We liked the menu and our food as well as the wine were very good. Our server was extremely nice and attentive. We had a great dinner.

Whitebark is one of our go to places in Mammoth. However, they now won't let you order sushi at the restaurant, only in the bar and at the sushi bar. We had dinner reservations through open table but we had come for the sushi so we ended up in the bar (group of 4). The hostess then cancelled our reservation so we couldn't accrue our opentable dining points which was so underhanded given we spent over $200 that night eating there. Open table ended up honoring it.

This is a great restaurant set up and the servers were wonderful (dawn especially). The duck was disappointing. The shishito peppers with goat cheese were very good. In the future I'm just gonna stick to coming here and having a beer. The happy hour drinks are a good deal but the food is not.
