   Terrible service. We had a table of 5 were seated on time but waiter never provided service. We kept flagging him down but never took our drink or food order. It took 35 minutes to get a beer. Worse service I ever experienced. Food was okay but the bad service kill the whole experience. Will never go back to this place.

   Very good restaurant. We had the steak. It was juicy and very tasty. The potatoes and asparagus were great as well. The service was present at all time and very good.

   The reviews on this restaurant have been mixed. We had a wonderful experience and enjoyed the food and the service. Our server Leslie was charming. Drinks were well-made and tasty. Five dollar valet was very convenient. All in all a good experience.

    We had eaten here a couple of years ago, had a table with a great view and an esoteric menu including sushi. Not anymore. Very very limited menu with basically the same menu options that we’d had the night before at the Lakefront Restaurant. Salads lacked sufficient dressings and the salmon was well cooked but under seasoned.

    The food was bad. Who makes ravioli in a bland brown beef broth soup? The cauliflower app was not edible. The steak had to be choice. All for $75/head? No thank you. It is sad when the backside of the mountain at the outpost was the highlight of food for the day.

    We've eaten at Whitebark (when in Mammoth) many times since it opened. We were disappointed this time. I'm not sure what the breakdown was, but my steak was overcooked. Normally I don't get upset or send things back, but within 2 minutes of placing our order, the food arrived. There is no way a steak can be cooked to medium that quickly. This lead me to believe it was pre-cooked and waiting under a heat lamp to be served. The manager took care of it and was very helpful, but the steak she brought to replace it also appeared at our table only 3 minutes later, and was also over cooked. The steak was comped and we were given a free glass of wine. Again, I was happy with the manager's response, but this just shouldn't happen.

    Unfortunately it was probably some of the worst food I’ve had at a hotel restaurant. The short stack I had for breakfast was inedible. Now I understand what people mean when they describe something as “tastes like cardboard”.

    I read the reviews prior to going and was so confused on how they had so many negative ones. We had a great experience. Food was great and service was just as good, ended up ordering a bottle of wine with desert to stay and enjoy longer

    This was a very disappointing experience overall. It took over half an hour to get a simple vodka tonic. NO cocktails on the menu! So odd for a ski resort where fun local drinks are expected. Then we get told two items are not available due to delivery issues. OK, so what about offering a couple of substitutions?!? No specials at all. The food we did get was wonderful fortunately. The cauliflower soup was very good, my filet mignon steak nicely done, and my husband's pomegranate chicken was delicious. The best part of the meal was the caramel flan dessert - absolutely beautiful presentation and the best tasting flan we've ever had (and we have had many). The restaurant has great potential but for the location and the advertising it has, it should be better managed and staffed.

    I was expecting an all around great dining experience from the Westin’s White Bark, one of Mammoth’s newest and finest hotels. Menu options were limited and most of the table went for the Wagu short rib dinner…so dry it was embarrassing. I asked for a burger since the menu didn’t offer one…the waiter said those are only available in the bar. Then while watching the neighboring table receive a chicken burger I asked the waiter what gave ? and he said it’s not allowed but some servers let it slide! As well the waiters attitude was less than accommodating which didn’t help. Couldn’t be more dissatisfied and will not return. Terrible experience for myself (a returning customer) and my clients first visit to Mammoth. Get it right Whitebark…deliver what your clientele want…a burger from the main restaurant and charge double from what you charge at the Bar, just garnish it better!

    During the week of New Years, my husband and I had an evening away and were able to get reservations here. I had read the reviews prior to making a reservation and honestly tried to get in somewhere else, like Petra’s or the Mogul, but everyone was super busy or booked. I was pleasantly surprised we were seated quickly and sat near the fire place which was nice. We ordered cocktails and found out they were out of ice and couldn’t make any cocktails until ice was found. We ordered a beer and Prosecco and our server came back soon and advised ice had been secured and we could have a cocktail if we would like. Our server was so great, making sure we were taken care of. We each had a steak with different sides and they were all good. Overall we had a nice evening, good wine and good service. Everyone at the restaurant seemed to be pitching in to make sure diners were taken care of. During these tough times where it’s hard to staff places and ever changing restrictions, I thought they did a good job and I would return.

    Horrible. Went here 2 years ago and it was wonderful. Went last night and it was atrocious. Rude and unfriendly hostess. Ambiance is awful - center display kitchen was inoperable and covered in boxes. Restaurant was freezing. Brought the wrong food. It was bad. And it was not crowded - probably 4 empty tables.     Watched others seated half hour after us receive their food. Manager not helping the waitress get it right or the kitchen. Did not check in once we for our salad, cold appetizers and semi warm soups one hour and a half after being seated. Then another appetizer came later and it was cold. Sent those away because now we were going to finally eat our meal. One of the orders came wrong. They brought a flatbread instead of short ribs. The drinks were forgotten and it was not that busy. In the end the waitress apologized and some things were taken off the ticket. But the manager only made an excuse that the other table was just getting their appetizers, not their meal so not to worry about it. She did not address that fact that we had been there 30 minutes already and then proceeded to wait another hour for our appetizers. The one entree was good but the other food was dry and not great. They used to be a great place or maybe we just had an unlucky night and others had a good experience.

    The food was great . We ate dinner Four time this week. Soup was just right cold weather. Sitting next to kitchen was chilly. The door to kitchen open. My daughter went to our room and got our coats. Staff was nice. Especially the lady manager at dinner.

    Came here Christmas Eve. Food was almost inedible. We have been here before and it has only continued to get worse and worse. They should revisit their previous menu where they offered sushi and so many other better items on the menu than what they have now. Just awful wouldn’t go back when even when staying at the hotel which we do very frequently.

    We had a very nice time in the dining room and are server was sweet and nice, the problem was at the bar while waiting on our table. JR the bartender was extremely rude and disrespectful. He should not work with people. Hopefully he was just having a bad day and it was a one time thing.

    We had dinned there a few weeks ago with friends and the food was good but they forgot one of the main courses and I ended-up getting served after everyone already finished eating. We assumed that was a fluke and booked again for a celebratory family dinner. Big mistake! My wife who is pescatarian really wanted the sea bass. When she ordered it the waitress basically told her not to, that it was too salty and she wouldn’t recommend it. Next we wait for a long time for our appetizers and our main course comes instead. We tell them we want our appetizer first and the server insists: « are you sure? ». Anyway we send the food back and wait for the appetizers. At that point I tell the manager what’s going on and to her credit she starts getting hands-on with our table overseeing everything closely. The soup arrives but it’s cold. I send it back. They bring it back warm and it is delicious. In the end everything arrives and the food is good. The manager does apologize profusely and give us a welcome 20% discount. Looking around a lot of other table seem to have had issues with their orders. My guess is that whomever is running the kitchen is struggling and the rest of the staff is dealing with the mess. I feel for them but we’ll be taking our business elsewhere while they sort this out.

    We were looking for something quiet after a long day of hiking and greatly enjoyed our dinner at Whitebark. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We LOVED the cauliflower and farro appetizer; it could have been an entree all by itself! I was a little disappointed with the limited menu, which is why it was 4 vs. 5 stars. They used to have a wider selection of items. Still, I had a delicious braised beef rib special with brussel sprouts. They had anticipated a slow night, but by the time we left, the place was packed. It did not change the vibe of the place, and the staff remained attentively busy.
