Excellent service and ambiance!
Given the ratings on yelp I was worried about eating there but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was all tasty and fresh and well-presented. The service was great too.
We had steaks and vegetables sides. The broccolini was tough and in edible. My filet mignon was requested rare, but it was actually cold in the middle. The mushroom side dish was good. The biggest issue was the expense of the meal. Outrageously expensive compared to the quality of the food. This is a common issue with hotel restaurants, but this was particularly bad.
Food was average, service slow. Will be going to Nevado's next time.
Admittedly our experience was late spring so that we practically had the entire restaurant and staff for ourselves, but I can hardly imagine that the wonderful ambience, food or service would’ve been absent on a busy winter night. Everything was perfectly prepared. Great menu with probably something for everyone, excellent wine and cocktails list, and our waiter (Nate) was attentive and very friendly. Strongly recommend as a nice touch to a Mammoth experience.
The food was actually quite bad.......side of mushrooms tasted disgusting.....burger was Blah.....salmon totally overcooked....crab with it was tasty......service was slow to nonexistent......& told server that the mushrooms were horrible & she just said OK.....& took them away....no offer to even remove from bill......booth we sat at (the same one we sat at 2 years ago) was repaired with duct tape (it had duct tape on it 2 years ago).....& it got adhesive on my jeans........prices like a 4seasons restaurant......but I’ve had better meals at every other restaurant in mammoth
Food was so so, and very overpriced for what you got. Steak was of poorer quality.
No management present all evening while other tables needed to be spoken to about voice volume control. Chucky Cheese has less noise than the back room near their fireplace.
Overall experience was very disappointing. Limited menu options for adults and kids. Service was even more disappointing...we waited 50 mins for our food and it wasn’t even worth the wait.
Waitstaff was excellent and Jordan was our team leader.
We do miss the broader menu.
We have dined at Whitebark since it’s inception but have been disappointed over the past three years by the incredibly shrinking menu, deleting so many choices that we have decided to no longer make plans to eat there.
When we arrived, the table was ready. Service provided by Jordan was excellent and the food was fabulous. Two of us ordered the Salmon Oscar and two ordered the Filet. The Filets were cooked exactly as ordered. Definitely recommend coming here and look forward to returning here when we are back on the sloped in June!
The butternut squash ravioli appetizer was incredible!
The menu is very limited especially for a family resort. The kids menu has horrible selections. Nothing kid friendly about it. Kids don’t want to eat a deconstructed Caesar salad for dinner!
As guests of the hotel, Whitebark was an easy and convenient choice for an early dinner before an 8:30pm comedy show up at Mammoth's Canyon Lodge. We were especially impressed with the food quality.
Very over priced and quality is not there. $38 for a steak on a plate with no sides. $200 dinner for 2. 😣
Awful food and terrible service at this price point. Keep your business at Petra's, Nevados, and Skadi
Food was okay, not great. The steak was not good. The kids menu was horrible selection. Joey our waiter was wonderful!
Service was excellent and the food was tasty. The menu was very limited and a little overpriced for some of the items.
Good food, a little pricey. Need a better selection of wines by the glass.
Very limited menu, additionally, they reportedly “unfortunately” did not have scallops, one of their few appetizers, again “unfortunately” did not offer bread. No elevator for those coming from gondola street level, access difficult for those in need. For being the Westin, the restaurant was below average.
Please Trust Me... This restaurant was good two years ago. It had a good menu, good service and nice ambiance. Now it is truly awful! The menu is EXTREMELY Ltd and LUDICROUSLY pricey. You are paying Michelin prices for cafeteria food and service - I am not being overly dramatic with this description! Please do yourself a favor and stay away - book anywhere else in Mammoth. The problem is nobody actually cares here - to be a restaurant that is above average somebody has to care - the chef / the front of house team / the organization that owns it - somebody! Here at Whitebark nobody cares - least of all Westin who have decided to charge their customers exorbitant prices for incredibly poor food in an incredibly tatty restaurant- if I am paying $60+ for a steak with one side I expect a little more than a duct taped seat - sorry I just do!
Steak was cooked perfectly. French onion soup... yummy. shrimp and chorizo. Crazy good. Grits? Are you kidding me?!?! Delish!! That Mammoth Cookie, OMG!! Our server was great.
Thank you for a delicious meal.
We shared a bison tomahawk steak and it was absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered tasted amazing! The only less than positive things I can say is that it was just a bit louder than I’d expect for such an expensive restaurant.
Nice restaurant in the Westin - pricey but that is true of all the restaurants near the Village. The menu is not extensive but covers the essentials. The food was very good - we had burgers, steak and salad.
Food is ok and service was not great. We had been here two weeks ago and what a difference. The first time was good enough for us to return, the second time was not terrible but there are much better choices in Mammoth, especially for the prices. The service was apathetic and low energy and with just mediocre food, there is no reason to return.
Lovely food and outstanding staff
The burger was delicious and the server was very nice.
Everything was great. Service between apps and main course was a little slow but the management was proactive, acknowldged it before we needed to complain and took care of us to our satisfaction.
Great to see magmt on top of things!
Food was phenomenal. Especially desserts.
Menu different from what was online. Prices were different as well from what was online. 3 Beers listed on restaurant menu was not available. I ordered steak medium well done, it came nuked to a crisp. Food was way overpriced. Waitress recommended a wine that wasn’t sweet, but medium dry. Wine was very sweet. Waitress, who knew the party behind us, was chatting with them the whole time we ate. Just all around not nice experience.
The food was amazing. Not a huge menu selection, but still great food. The environment was really nice. The service was great. Overall a great experience.
The restaurant and staff seemed very nice and friendly. The restaurant is inside the Westin Hotel and is very nice and clean. They also have complimentary valet parking for guests. The food was so, so. It seemed over priced for what it was and the menu did not have the largest selection but it was very easy to make a reservation.
The menu has changed and very limited but what we ordered was good. I shared a burger with my husband and my son had a filet. Both were good, but the steak was brought out at least 10 minutes after the burger was served. No excuses for that type of service. We
Are staying at the hotel and very convenient, but if that can’t figure out how to serve 2 entrees together, it is off our list.
Atmosphere is great! Come on it’s Mammoth! Food not worth the price.
Great cozy atmosphere! Good food.
We've visited Whitebark many times at Mammoth, but the new menu and management are a big change for the worse. The new menu is dull, extremely overpriced, and the food preparation looked and felt like someone threw it together. Portion to value ratio was regrettable. Don't visit this restaurant if you're seeking a good meal at a fair price. And definitely don't go expecting a children's menu that your kid will appreciate - the options are limited and was clearly invented by someone who doesn't know kids. $49 (a la carte) for an 8 oz. filet was poorly cooked and had to be sent back. $26 for a side-sized kale salad with about 3 oz of chicken? They're pricing this place like a high-class steak house, but there's nothing high-class, creative, or any other reason to eat here unless you have no other choice. Expect to feel gouged, as we did. Only the $18 burger came looking at all like the pricetag.
We were very disappointed in our experience at Whitebark on this trip to Mammoth. The menu posted on OpenTable was from 2014 and what was offered in the restaurant was very different and very limited. The staff was not educated about menu items and the service was very poor. We requested bread several times and our waiter did provide bread to the table next to us (after we had already requested 3 times), so you would think he would have remembered at that time to bring it to our table as well. Beverages were not attended to at all. Our food was delivered by runners who had no idea who was to receive which meal. One of our son's has dietary restrictions and although the waiter acknowledged and appeared to take notes, the food was not prepared correctly. Since our waiter never came back to the table to check on our meal, we had to wave down another staff member to have our son's meal remedied. Our waiter did bring his meal to the table, but never apologized or acknowledged the error, just dropped the food on the table and ran off. The meal was extremely over-priced for the quality and flavor. We have dined previously at Whitebark and have had some wonderful meals. Unfortunately, this restaurant has really gone downhill. They have a captive market being located in the Westin, but certainly Whitebark does not live up to the expectation set. At $50-$70 average per person, you should take your money elsewhere.
$50 steak comes alone on a diner plate. No sides or garnish. Kale salad bland with no flavor. Overall very disappointed for an overly priced dinner. Chef needs to rethink menu as everyone may not be interested in family style meals. Please consider adding additional vegetarian/vegan options on your menu.
Great food in Mammoth at lower prices than the other really good places in Mammoth.
Great find at the Westin in Mammoth. Fun bar, nice breakfast options and dinner with some sophisticated options, in a beautiful, contemporary space with a bird's view of the Village, gondola, and mountains beyond. Also an excellent option for larger family dinners (we had close to 20 people for4 a 70th b-day celebration), or romantic dinner for two.
