White Oak Tavern
Our scratch kitchen offers a wide variety of tavern fare with a slow foods emphasis and a nod toward things past. Our offerings are best shared amongst friends with selections from our craft beer, wine and cocktail lists. In true tavern tradition, we pride ourselves on a delicate care for our craft and a warm friendly smile to all who call to our door.
Consistently great food, and our waitress, Kelsey, was the perfect mix of attentive and non-intrusive!
Great location near Washington Square Park. Lovely atmosphere and great food. I had the roasted cauliflower and it was yummy! Be sure to check out the restroom. My 16 year old found it a little spooky.
We ate mostly from the app and sides menu and the food was good (roasted cauliflower was my fav). Fish and chips from main menu could have been better. Staff were very nice and attentive. We were there at 5pm so it wasn't too crowded or noisy.
Great food and atmosphere! The cocktail menu was great for a pre-dinner drink. We will definitely be back when in the area.
I would recommend this establishment as a convenient place to meet and that is reasonably priced. However, I would not recommend it for its food. The blackened chicken sandwich was an extreme disappointment.
Was there for lunch with a friend I hadn’t seen in almost 50 years! Not too crowded, we were there at noon so easy to talk and HEAR. Friendly attentive service, my hamburger was great and friend seemed to like his pork sandwich. Pleasant comfortable atmosphere.
We were going to Blue Man Group and wanted to go somewhere local for dinner. We made reservations but really didn’t need them. We had the BBQ ribs as an appetizer- extremely tasty. My kids had the cheeseburgers which were very good. I had the ancient grains salad with salmon. A very healthy meal! Dessert was a chocolate mousse - very rich and delicious. The Apple crumble was good - a little burnt on the edges. The rose sangria was ok - too much ice and not a great value. The decor was nice - 1920’s ish and inviting.
Great dinner with family. Food was great. Service was amazing. Great live music.
A lot of fun, and classy food in a beautifully-done restaurant that's like a pub, without the sticky-floor feeling. We shared a cheese plate and a whiskey flight , along with small dishes and found everything delicious and well prepared. Recommended!
Perfect neighborhood bar with excellent food and yummy gin drinks!
Fun, bustling bar/pub with great lighting and ambience. Food, including burger and roasted chicken, was very good. My husband's vodka/seltzer was fine, as you would expect, but my cosmopolitan was not great. Cannot really put my finger on the problem, but I've had cosmos in many places, and this one just had very little taste other than the vodka. Same for our guest's Moscow Mule. After dinner espresso was very nice. Service was fine, but not really warm and welcoming, and we did have to ask someone else to get our waiter for us twice after we waited quite a bit trying to get his attention. The flowers on the table were really dead and gross. Still, all in all, it was good enough to give another chance.
White Oak Tavern is a great neighborhood restaurant/bar, but watch out for the noise level. I found myself yelling quite often to speak to my kids at the table. The portions were large and delish. The brussel sprouts and burnt broccoli were great. The rose sangria was great, but the pitcher was filled with ice so that it basically poured 4 glasses, which was a disappointment. I had to flag down servers here and there, but when they came, they were quick to help. Overall, I'd definitely recommend the White Oak Tavern
We have visited this restaurant several times recently and have consistently had very good experiences. We like the decor and the menu, and the wait staff really tries to provide good service.
Very nice staff.
This is the first time dining here for brunch after a couple of great dinners. As always it never disappoints and has become the number one spot that I often recommend. Looking forward to the next time.
It was my birthday and we had the very best of times.
Great brunch spot. Boozy Donuts are special treat. Can’t beat the bottomless mimosas.
Lovely bar restaurant for date nights or for group meet ups. The overall noise level was lower than usually crowded bars. The food was spectacular. The service was not only on-point but kind and very considerate. We never felt rushed. Overall, a beautiful find and definitely a choice hideout for future rendezvous.
Delicious food, wonderful service.
This was a delicious and delightful restaurant. I enjoyed everything about my experience here. I plan to come back soon.
The food was phenomenal. I wish I could make vegetables as delicious. The cocktail menu was also very good.
Overall, a good experience. Great service and typical pub food. Safe bet for lunch or dinner.
The White Oak Tavern has a lovely ambiance. It's an upper scale bar with food. The food won't blow you away and the prices are too expensive, but it's close to a bunch of trains and you can make a reservation!
Very nice setting and food. I had chicken pot pie and it was excellent
Very good food, Cute bar vibes
Chloe our waitress was fabulous!
So happy White Oak was everything I expected and more. My girlfriend and our two daughters enjoyed it as well. As a design/decor lover I found the atmosphere to be wonderful. The sink in the restrooms area was fabulous!
It took over an hour to receive our food. By the time it came, we had to take it to go with us.
Warm, inviting, 1930's atmosphere. Comfortable seating in booths. Good selection of Bar food, well prepared and tasty. Perfect place for easy, moderately priced dining.
The food was very good. The service was outstanding. And the noise level was quite good. I went for brunch. Dinner may have more noise.
Nice neighborhood haunt. Especially Pre Public theatre.
This is my go to place for dinner before a show at the Public Theater. I hate to share it with you. The food and ambience are great. The service is lovely and attentive.
The food is really delicious. It is a tad loud because the bar is active and the music is a tad too loud, but it is wonderful. It is a gem.
It was way too loud to enjoy anything. Like trying to have dinner in the middle of a rock concert. While the food was passable and the prices ok it was way too energetic as it was like eating alone or shouting in your partners ear just to have them say "what?" over and over again. Not a great way to dine.
The quinoa salad was delicious... I would go back just for that.
Amazing food and staff are friendly. Wood highly recommend this place to anyone
The restaurant is very cool - great vibe from an era gone by. It feels like a old pub in the UK. We had brunch and honestly the pork hash that 3 of us ordered was ok.
My main reason for booking this reservation at White Oak Tavern on a cold Saturday night dinner with a couple of friends was the cozy-looking factor, but our experience far exceeded any other expectations! We had genuinely friendly, warm service the moment we walked in, followed by great service from our waitress and bartender. We ordered the fish&chips (honestly some of the best I've ever had- perfect portion size and perfectly battered/cooked), the Salmon/green curry (still having fantasies about this perfect balance of all things), and the chicken sliders and brussels (bravo, these were both delicious and perfectly cooked). We were extremely happy with our drinks (Blood&Spice margarita and the Smoke Show) which were very well-crafted, and they had many other options, it was hard to narrow down! White Oak definitely delivered on the cozy-factor: it was an upscale tavern vibe with low lighting and great decor. The restaurant was very full and buzzing with chatter, but you could still easily hear the conversation at your own table. The bathrooms were clean and easy to access (individual doors in communal area type-situation) and the bar is the beautiful focal point that divides the restaurant from the lounge side. I really feel like you can't go wrong with this place, and feel like its a great recommendation for so many different situations whether it be dinner with friends or family in the restaurant, a cozy date on the bar/lounge side, or an extended brunch experience (I noticed they have boozy brunch and live music on the weekends). Good vibes all around! Can't wait to return!
Great service. Food and drink was excellent. I was there with a large party and there was no pressure to leave. Love that!!
Great food but overly noisy. They could lower the volume on their music system and we all wouldn't have to shot at each other.
We are always happy to have dinner here. Usually before a show at the Public Theater. It's a very comfortable room with great service and very good, pub style food.
