White Barn Inn
Mon-Thu 6:00 pm–9:00 pm
Fri–Sun 5:30 pm–9:00 pm
Fine dining with creative menu. Service is excellent. True 5 star experience.
The service, food and ambiance were perfect for celebrating our 40th Anniversary! Everything was delicious and the many special touches made for an over the top experience. We would love to be to return!!
This restaurant has lost it's appeal due to being WAY to fancy, and not up to date with the current needs of the millennial public. Food was to over the top, TO expensive, TO many courses. And not that outstanding to fetch the prices they require. It's a good thing they opened up the bistro, it may save there butt.
Very enjoyable. Limited menu but creative and well done. Service was excellent. Expensive but you get what you pay for.
One of the absolute best meals and service that I have had anywhere on the globe.
Exceptional food an cuisine with outstanding, attentive and gracious service at every turn. You will enjoy a "price-fixe" menu meaning, four courses at a set price. A "Chef's tasting menu" is also available at slight premium, as are supplements to the fixed menu... caviar, with appetizers, primarily. They have an extensive wine list that features some of the finest wines available. However, be aware that this being 5-star restaurant, you should bring along a well-funded wallet. It is nonetheless, worth it. You absolutely will not leave hungry.
A phenomenal restaurant! Great ambiance. Service was excellent. The food was exceptional. We had a superb anniversary dinner. Would definitely return and highly recommend it.
We went there to relax after babysitting for our grandkids for five days. It was the perfect choice! The tuna tartare was outstanding and the duck breast was cooked perfectly and delicious. Going to the White Barn Inn for dinner has been on my bucket list for years. Happy we finally got there and we’ll be back.
A truly great experience. The food and presentation are simply outstanding and the piano player provided the perfect ambiance for the evening. Furthermore, the wait staff are simply superb. Have nothing but outstanding comments re: the White Barn.
Great service, but almost too formal for a beach town. Same with the menu.
Did really enjoy the piano in the bar area.
Outstanding! A wonderful choice for celebrating our wedding anniversary.
Our experience was wonderful! Our server, Andrew, was very knowledgeable about the food and about wine. He suggested a more suitable wine for our dinners of lamb and duck than I had originally ordered. The four-course menu was $125.00 per person, plus gratuity and alcohol.
The meal began with avocado and something (?) shooter, and it was finished with petit fours. In between appetizer, main course, and dessert. A lovely mango and something (?) sorbet, and husband had melon and prosciutto sorbet, with a tiny piece of prosciutto on top. Duck breast and spring lamb for dinner.
Just wow.... I'm forgetting all of the experience because there was so much to take in. A special occasion place for dinner, but there is always brunch and lunch. A must-do place and experience.
Service from start to finish was amazing. If you desire a cocktail at the piano bar before being seated (even though your table is ready), that is fine. You are not rushed, courses are appropriately spaced out, and served with a flourish. Every bite of food was portioned perfectly and savored slowly in order to prolong the experience. The special gift waiting for you in your car as you leave was unexpected and topped off the experience perfectly.
Was really excited to go when we walked in, it is very pretty! Staff were awkward and food was very disappointing. Will not go again.
This restaurant was recommended by a neighbor. It did not disappoint! We were on a 6 week road trip and the White Barn Inn was an important part of our itinerary. The restaurant is first class with ambiance, menu selections, the piano player in the background, the excellent service and the fabulous food! We didn’t want the evening to end... Absolutely fabulous place for dinner!
Have been to the White Barn over the years for special occasions and it does not disappoint in terms of ambiance and service. A beautifully appointed antique New England barn with white tablecloths. The service was excellent and our waitress knew the menu inside and out and could answer any question we had. Yet, the place felt out of date with it's awkwardly quiet dining room and old fashioned piano player. We felt we couldn't share a laugh or speak above a whisper for fear of "breaking protocol." I think it's time to revisit who you are trying to attract and what kind of ambiance those patrons seek. Younger people who appreciate and can afford the menu, don't wan't to feel like they are in a home for the elderly but prefer more of a buzz, there's really an outdated feeling about the place now.....
The food was very good for the most part although a few items were disappointing. The lobster entree was rather boring with a creamy sauce that was too rich. The Grand Marnier souffle was undercooked and not that flavorful either. The appetizers and other courses were delicious. The breads were delicious but not even warm.
Overall, a disappointing night for a hefty $200 pp.
Truly one of the most amazing and memorable dining experiences I've ever had!!
Lobster was good. The rest was average and mostly overpriced. The Bistro is a better value than the main restaurant. The place is very loud but the service was fine...
This restaurant came highly recommended from friends. It is a prix fix with an appetizer, a small intermezzo course, entree, and dessert. The octopus was good, probably the best dish we were served all night. Tomato Barrata was good but a small portion. The lobster bisque was tasty but had an excessive celery flavor. The foie gras was buttery but lacked flavor. The lamb loin was very undercooked and lacked seasoning. The southwestern flavored succotash did not complement the lamb well. The Duck breast was served basically raw despite a request of medium and when it was returned back from the kitchen was still rare. The accompanying beans were a very small portion and bland. I opted for the risotto and asparagus which was terrible. Very salty and bland and very small portion most of which I left behind. The creme fraiche was average. Highlight of the meal was the bread assortment and bread sticks served with the cheese plate which was a dessert option. In summary this dining experience was terrible and leads me to conclude that this restaurant is vastly overrated and extremely overpriced.
Best food, wine, and service in Maine --- and one of the best in all New England.
I somewhat randomly picked this place from OT based on proximity to my location and availability. We had no idea what we were getting into...an extraordinary 4 course prix fixe. As a well traveled bon vivant, this was THE BEST EVER.
Exceptional food and service.
Though much too quick for our table and with not enough explanations on the possible wines and best pairing, the service is impeccable and more than pleasant.
Very pricey but worth it. If you are looking for a special night, this is the place to go.
Food was excellent (desserts were very good but not on par with the apps and entrees). Service was outstanding. There is something to say when you have an attentive waitstaff, that is there very timely but not so engaged that they are annoying or participating in the table.
They created an unforgettable dinner and experience.
Very expensive. $750 & tip for 4 people. Price fix is not my favorite. We go to White Barn every few years. Service was excellent, food pretty good.
Excellent food and service
Great environment for a comfortable meal.
Beautiful building and the wait service were great. Attentive but did not hover over you. Food quality was excellent.
Excellent experience from beginning to end! We will definitely eat here again.
Very accommodating with our continued change in time due to late arrival to Kennebunkport. Outstanding food, wine and service! Best meal of the week!
We live in Florida and like to come to the White Barn Inn whenever we visit Maine.
While very expensive, the White Barn main dining room offers terrific food and a wonderful experience. For anyone who enjoys good food and the occasional pampering, the White Barn is a "must" for any special occasion.
Peter was so fantastic. Best meal we have had in a very long time. Highly recommend.
Excellent as always!
Amazing! Everything was amazing. We will be back.
It was wonderful - it’s always wonderful at the White Barn Inn. We go every 4th of July.
Overall the meal was well executed with excellent service.
We love the White Barn, have to visit every trip we make to Maine. The staff is so perfect, very attentive and knowledgeable. The food is beyond incredible. We had the Chef's Indulgence Menu this visit. It was fun to not pick our menu and have so many little plates of deliciousness. I highly recommend this option. The little touches that the White Barn has make it so much more special. They have a huge picture window filled with flowers, oil lights on the tables and so much character in the room with all the original wood. Hands down this is perfect dining.
This restaurant is what dining should be. Every detail is met
My wife and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at the White Barn Inn. This was our third time in six years. To go to the White Barn Inn is a dining experience, but this time it was just okay.
For starters, they placed us in the middle of the room as opposed to a table along the wall, which is more intimate and romantic. I brought this to the host's attention and she was more than happy to move us to an open table along the wall.
As always, we went with the six-course tasting menu because we like trying new things. A couple of the dishes were not to our liking, but that is not the chef's fault as we picked the tasting menu. In the past, we had the choice between two dishes for each of the six courses, which we preferred as you could avoid things you knew you absolutely were not going to like.
All the waiters were nice, but our main waiter―and I don't mean to be mean―lacked personality and was stiff. He did not make us feel welcome or walk us through the dishes in a way that made us excited or comfortable, which we enjoyed on previous occasions. He also didn't ask us if we would like him to freshen our drinks, which required me to ask him. Perhaps they were short staffed that night, I don't know.
For us, if we were to go back again, we would probably stay away from the tasting menu and go with what we know we are going to like. We would also make sure to ask for a table along the wall or at least a table not in the middle of the room. The waiter thing is tougher as that is something I cannot control nor do I go often enough to ask for someone in particular.
I very much enjoyed the food here, and the service at the table was very prompt. Our waiter was very professional and the entire dining experience was the best my date and I have ever had.
However, I rate the service and overall experience as poor because I entrusted the restaurant staff with my keys while they valet parked my vehicle. After I returned home from dining, I realized they had lost my car key (my key fob is passive entry - you keep the key on your person and push a button to start the car. The missing physical key is used to enter it when the fob battery dies or if it malfunctions, gets wet, etc). I called the restaurant the next morning, and they took my information down. I was told they would call me when the valet staff arrived at 3:00 and could be spoken to.
I never received the phone call, and I attempted to call them that evening, but they did not answer and the voice mailbox was full. As of now I still have not heard from them.
I had such high expectations from the restaurant but they aren't able to properly look after a vehicle without losing the keys. Dining there was a great experience, but I would not return to a restaurant who not only loses my car key, but won't even follow up with me to let me know if they've even made an attempt to locate it.
Incredible from beginning to the end. Food was well balanced and delicious. Assistant servers could use some training. All in all, wonderful!
