Old World charm may be found in downtown Renton, Washington at the Whistle Stop Ale House. For over one hundred years people have come to this neighborhood next to the railroad tracks to enjoy a pint among friends. Adding to the rustic charm is the cherry wood back bar which traveled to the Alaskan Gold Rush before finding a home in Renton.

A great place for lunch with friends. Very cheerful and nice to have a menu that addresses everyone’s dining preferences like gluten free. Vegan, etc. Also great to have mid day breakfast. The weakest link was their fries. They were standard frozen fries, not homemade. Service was friendly and very efficient. Definitely one of the better restaurants in Renton and very reasonably priced.

Wonderful ambiance. Love the train decor. I come for the amazing food though! Chicken marsala is my favorite.

My wife ordered Tempura shrimp with sweet potato fries. She got heavily battered shrimp with yam fries. She ended up removing the heavy batter to eat just the shrimp. The first bite of fries she just spit out. My rueben has little meat and tons of kraut. My French fries were good.

We were warned it would be noisy for an interview. But all worked out just fine. Excellent food and service too.

I have always enjoyed the Whistle Stop. Good food, good service. It is very family oriented. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with this place at all. Just a fun place to eat.

My husband had the jambalaya and found it to be pretty oily. My fish and chips and our son’s sliders were really good.

Overall it was a nice time. The server needs a little more experience or something. We were eating with our forks in our food and he came by to ask are we done with our food??? Also when we asked to sit in a booth we got an eye roll and big sigh.. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice though.

Good to sport a local business that serves good food and has variety of beers on tap. It was a pleasant surprise to have the USMNT game playing so that entertained my husband as I tried to catch up with a dear friend. Thank you for also heeding my request to get the check. Like the small touches.

Food was exemplary American brunch, service was great, cost was fair, and the environment was suitably spacious and supportive of conversation. Would have provided the final star for gluten-free support on the menu -- though note that it did support those looking for vegetarian options.

Waitress came by once to take order brought sodas and said she would be back with my water. No show. Soda empty. Walked by and looked at table 3 times did nothing. I had to ask expediter to refill soda and bring water when he brought out food. Meatloaf was dry and full of fillers. I had to get another servers attention. She asked if things were ok i said no i just want the check so I can pay and leave. Server then shows up to make excuses and argue with me. I had to ask twice for her to just run my credt card. Wrote note on receipt and fully expected manager to call but to date no calls. Clear that they are not interested in repeat business

Whoever is responsible for employee training is doing a fantastic job. Everyone from the hostess to the coffee server went above and beyond with both their service as well as their friendly manner. Cudos to one & all.

I was at Whistle Stop Ale House for my first visit for Mother's Day. I made reservations for 8 and my party grew to 10. Originally, they told me we wouldn't be able to add anymore, but as luck would have it, they were able to make room for all of us and they seemed happy to do it. Everybody that took care of us was so nice and made us feel like regulars. I will definitely visit again and recommend to my friends and family.

Breakfast at the Whistle Stop happens often with my family. We all love the food, the staff are friendly, and the coffee and bloody marys are great! We only reserve a table on busy weekends (such as Mother's Day) but on a regular weekend we'll just head over - sometimes there's a wait, but that's fine. We love this place.

We really enjoyed the Whistle Stop Ale House. We were there about noon on a Saturday. They had both breakfast and lunch options. The food was good and plentiful - very large portions. The service was really good.

I love the Whistle Stop. Been there many times. They have outdoor seating which is great on a nice evening. However, they often seem understaffed (never see management around) and sometimes their food is subpar. Other times its great. They always have a variety of draft beers. I would definitely be more inclined to recommend them to others if they were more consistent with food and service.

We’ve gone to breakfast and dinner numerous times. The food and service have always been spot on. It is low key enough for children and they do have kids menus and crayons. Really enjoy this restaurant.

I try something different every time I stop by the Whistle Stop and I'm always happy with the food and the drinks. I had to kill a couple of hours on Saturday night, and discovered they have a nice late night happy hour.

We have limited places in Renton where you can grab a great breakfast... Whistle Stop has quickly become #1. Service, food selection and quality ! Food is always good, service is good, and the atmosphere is not just "a bar". We love Whistle Stop !

We drove an hour and a half to get there and our dining companions drove almost 3 hours, but it was worth it. Such good food, great menu (could have more vegetarian choices) and fantastic desserts. We will definitely be back, especially since you are so close to my doctors in Renton!

Nice restaurant. I had a salad with grilled salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly, but the kalamata olives were missing. When I told the waitress she brought me a small bowl of olives. Very nice! I'd visit again.
