Very expensive, most entrees over $55.00 . Service and staff were excellent. Sauces were a bit on the heavy side which did not enhance the dishes. BYOB was nice and helped the overall cost of the dinner. With tip the bill was $480 for 4 adults and 2 children. We had just 2 appetizers and no dessert and there was only one soft drink ordered. Experience we nice but hard to justify the cost versus value.

We used to go to this restaurant often in the past and always enjoyed our meal and experience there, but it has drastically changed. The meals are way overpriced now. They even charge you for bread! In the past you would get a complimentary appetizer and lovely warm bread rolls. The service was great - our waitress was wonderful but we won’t be going back in a hurry.

Lots of locals dine at Whispers because it's the best restaurant in Spring Lake. Tourists flock there, too, for outstanding food and service and a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. It's elegant but not pretentious. We had the mozzarella-burrata and the baby arugula salad to start and savored the lobster crepe. Server Izzy was a gem -- very helpful in menu suggestions but not overbearing. This was our second visit and we'll return there the next time we're in town.

Both of us got the specials, which were excellent and piping hot. Salad and calamari for appetizer which were also very good and the only negative was dessert. We were brought our coffee right away and told our dessert would be right out. Half and hour later it was not and they did not come over again despite their other tables being less than 5 feet away. We wound up taking it to go and it was not as described. Strawberry short cake had strawberry preserves and cream was like a cheese cake. Have eaten here many times before and we come yearly for our anniversary. The dessert will not deter me from returning. This is always consistently a great byob and usually flawless service. For two to eat it was about $250 gratuity of 20% added. Additional CC charge applies here.

As always first class food and service. Prices although a bit high are comparable to other first class restaurants.

We have enjoyed Whispers many times. However the fact that you are charged for bread and $14 for a Cappuccino is really pushing it.

A quiet, quaint, old charm restaurant at the Jersey Shore. Always delicious food, byob, and the wait staff is delightful. I just don’t agree with the “connivence fee” for using a credit card. Not everyone is doing it, Covid is over! It’s gouge pricing! Other than needing a pocket full of cash, I love it there.

I hadn't been to Whispers for quite a while but rememebered it as being quite nice. I ate there last night with another couple, we are in our late 70's, we were approached by the Manager at the end of our evening with a complaint that we were too loud. WE WERE HAVING A NICE TIME. I assure you we were not screaming or throwing things, just talking and laughing. The gentlemen was totally rude, and ruined a perfectly nice evening. I will never eat there again or receomment it to anybody.

Dear Thomas, Whispers is not a large restaurant, many of our guests choose Whispers specifically for its quiet and intimate dining experience. We have, on occasion, received reviews expressing concern over noise levels caused by a particularly loud or disorderly table. Some reviewers have noted disappointment that management did not intervene. Please be assured that we take such matters seriously. When noise from a table becomes disruptive to other diners—or can even be heard by hotel guests on the second floor of The Hewitt Wellington Hotel—we consider it necessary to address the situation directly. As a reminder, Whispers Restaurant is a BYOB establishment in Monmouth County. Guests are welcome to bring beer, wine, or champagne only-spirits and other alcohol are not permitted.

    1. Since last year the the food quality and presentation has some what declined. 2. The pricing between entrees does not seem to be equitable. Example, the price difference between the sea food Fra Diavolo and the lobster special should be greater, with the sea food much less. 3 The lobster in both plates was tuff and not very flavorful. 4. The check preparation and presentation was very confusing. The initial itemized bill was in a standard format but did not explain that a surcharge would be applied if paying by credit card. When presented with the credit card slip, the individual beverage and food charge amounts changed. The credit card surcharge was now added to each individual item in the itemization. Now the sales tax is calculated on the inflated food total. The sales tax should only be applied to the sales total, food and beverages. A second unethical practice is the suggested tip for the server. The inflated food charge is also used to calculate the suggested gratuity. The server should not be placed in an embarrassing situation to have to explain the actions of management. Management never came out to explain. I think I am being quite generous with my middle of the road rating.

Dear John, Thank you for dinning at Whispers and we appreciate your feedback . We are sorry that your dinning experience was not an enjoyable and we will try to address all of your concerns. Whispers is trying to navigate difficult times in the restaurant industry, it seems like there are a few more things that need to be addressed in order to maintain your business.
