Wow.. You will not be disappointed at Whispers. Went at prime time on Saturday, table requested was ready on time and flowers sent in advance to the restaurant were there, a wonderful start. Since our reservation was at 8 there was no rush by the wait staff, very professional. We shared the scallop appetizer special that was phenomenal and the butternut squash soup that was the "best ever" . For the main courses we had the signature poached lobster over crab cake and a grilled shrimp with homemade pasta dinner. Both were delicious. It was a beautiful evening, for a special occasion or if you would just like fine dining that is reasonably priced and done professionally.
Excellent food, great service, beautiful room
Food was excellent. The server was unapologetically bad. Overall the evening ended badly. However, one weak server shouldn't be a reason to judge a restaurant. Nonetheless with so many excellent restaurants to chose from, I won't go back soon.
As always, service was impeccable and food was amazing. Bronzino special was cooked perfectly, moist and buttery. Possibly the best fish I’ve ever eaten. Almond Joy dessert is not to be missed. By now we have eaten there a dozen times and have never been disappointed!
Everything was first class
Wonderful as always
Very expensive and food was average. Well below our expectation level and our previous visits.
All of the food was excellent. The service was prompt, friendly, and attentive, but not pushy. We received our food as quickly as is expected for freshly cooked food. Noise was a problem because the tables are very tightly packed together and we had a very 'happy' group behind me. This was my birthday and the waitress paid attention to our conversation and put a candle in my dessert. She also offered to keep my soup warm in the kitchen when I stepped away to take a birthday call from my daughter. We will return.
Great meal for my husband’s birthday. I ordered the shrimp main and he ordered the filet. For starter we shared the crab cake. Everything from start to finish was great. Ellen was our waitress and she was so informative. Even gave us the number for a local liquor store that delivered wine free of charge since we overlooked that it was a BYO.
Excellent restaurant. Food and service both exemplary. Grilled shrimp was especially memorable.
The food is a little expensive but well offset by the fact it is a BYOB. The ambiance is charming despite a very loud group in a small restaurant.
We love white table linens and good service.
Very nice environment for a romantic dinner. Unfortunately a nearby table was slightly loud and obnoxious - nothing the management can do about that but it influences our impressions. The food was top-notch - as expected. Service was very friendly and quick. Expensive, but the BYO helped keep the cost down. All-in-all, a very nice dinner and sure to be repeated.
My wife and I went to whispers to celebrate our 1st anniversary. Our waitress, Taylor was exceptional. She treated us with special care and service and even took the time to take a couple of pictures of us in front of the fireplace. Thank you Taylor for your outstanding service.
We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at Whispers this past week.. Everything from the ambience to the service to the food was wonderful.
We recommend it highly for a special occasion, or just a lovely dinner. It was a bit pricey but we had a wonderful experience.
This was our 2nd time in the last several months. We had a different server for each visit, but both were outstanding. They are engaging, helpful, attentive and seem to enjoy their job. Very well trained and seasoned. The pace was great as well. We will definitely be back!
I already have told several people about the lovely evening we had at Whispers. This is a restaurant for special occasions. Elegant, wonderful service, delicious food that was beautifully prepared. Walking into this small and intimate restaurant is like taking a step back in time. A wonderful experience.
Great evening. Service was awesome and the lobster entree was delicious
Scallops were perfect, lobster special was amazing, wonderful service, thank you!
The TIA steaks are amazing and revenue almond joys are worth ordering
Save this for a special occasion. For a BYOB, it is expensive and not a place you will go every day. However, the menu is very good and the service is excellent. We try and save it for something special. Small place so make a reservation
Delicious meal, wonderful server - just really nice evening!
I believe we would have had a better overall experience if it wasn't for the high volume of noise. It was so loud, we couldn't enjoy our dinner or conversation. Recommend asking for a table outside.
Clean, quaint, and wonderful service and food. All the food is beautifully plated and the service is top notch. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
I am amused by the Rating options. Noise Levels - Quiet, Moderate and Energetic. How about this one - "Insane" as in being in an insane asylum. This restaurant has beautiful appointments and decor, but the obnoxious New York type patrons must think they are in an Olive Garden or a Giants game. Totally out of control, ill mannered people who think the whole restaurant needs to hear about their mother-in-law's menstrual cycle, who's wife in cheating on whom and a loud shot of "bend over Rover" with the even more boisterous reply, "You animal!!" I'm sure the restaurant is loathe to tell them to keep it quiet lest they lose their tips but I wish they would.
Ellen made our night - so attentive and friendly We had a great time and look forward to returning again soon!
We were staying at the Hewitt Wellington (where the restaurant is located) and decided to dine there for my birthday. Loved the decor and ambiance; it was exactly what we were looking for, a nice romantic dinner for two. We were seated in a small dining room that was very nicely appointed, but no windows, so it was rather dark and we were the only ones in there (at that time), so my boyfriend asked if we could move to the front dining room which was lined with windows, brighter and had other diners. Equally elegant decor, but an overall warmer feel to it. The hostess quickly accommodated us, even though they were booked for the rest of the evening. The service was excellent, and the BYOB meant we could bring our own bottle of champagne to celebrate. The food was pretty good, although my boyfriend said his filet mignon wasn't as tender as he'd hoped it would be. I had the chicken breast with mushroom risotto; the chicken was good, the sauce over it was delicious and the risotto was excellent. They also brought me a small scoop of decadently creamy vanilla ice cream with a couple of sliced strawberries and a candle to wish me a happy birthday. Overall, it was a very nice--albeit pricey--dining experience, and I recommend Whispers if you're in the area.
Better then one could expect, food great, service excellent, reservation on time. My new favorite restaurant.
A truly wonderful place to dine and be treated very well-great comfortable surroundings
We love Whispers. The wait staff are just terrific. The food is always good and the atmosphere is so pleasant. Reminds us of a lovely Inn in Vermont. We always take people there.
The food was delicious. Best lobster crepe ever tested
Service and food was outstanding. First time I had eaten here since 2017 and was thrilled it was still top notch. Very attentive service. We had one with food allergies and they were great about it. They replaced the complementary app which was nice. We had multiple appetizers, 4 different entrees and dessert. Everyone loved the food. Scallop app and shrimp entree were favorites.
Always a wonderful experience!
Had a great time...the waitress didn’t rush us and the food was delicious.
The preparation for each dish was unique, favors carefully balanced and complimentary and beautifully presented. Certainly a FINE dinning experience! The seafood, squid, shrimp, red snapper, was very fresh and cooked perfectly. Pecan tart - the shell crisp and buttery.
My one negative, the dinning had a smoky haze coming from the kitchen like they forgot to turn on the exhaust over the grill.
Unfortunately I live in Virginia otherwise I would be a regular at Whispers. The dinning highlight of our trip!
We made the reservation 3 weeks ago for a friend’s birthday. We’ve eaten here at least 8 times over the past 2 years. No one else in the place and waitress brought us to a corner table in the main dining room. I requested another table instead of the corner booth and was told nothing else was available and that we had exactly 1 hour and 20 minutes to completely finish even though we we’re the first customers and only people in the place. We settled on a table in another room. Not sure why we couldn’t stay in the main since only a few people showed up after us. Set a bad tone right from the start. Never once made us feel like the Customer. Never made reference to the special occasion. Menu limited, food was just okay, poor service, treated like we were there for a free meal. Very disappointing. Even though we were greeted with the time restriction, it took 15 minutes to have our table cleared. Another 10 before asked if we wanted dessert. Definitely a “never again”.
Whispers is a charming restaurant on the Jersey Shore with excellent food and top notch w a i t service. The greeting staff could use some education and maturity. It is fairly expensive but the BYOB policy keeps the cost reasonable. I highly recommended it.
This was our 47th wedding anniversary and Whispers made it a very special evening. The service that Taylor provided was outstanding along with a bit of help from Ellen. They both made us feel special, welcomed and a bit like royalty. You can bet we will be back!
Ellen was our waiter and she was so pleasant and thoughtful. She really rounded out the whole experience and made it that much more enjoyable. We were there for my mom’s birthday and Ellen truly made it so special and made some really wonderful suggestions that were above and beyond what we normally expect at a restaurant. I will definitely be back again!
Very noisy, our table was small next to a pole, our seats were close to other seats the waitresses and could hardly squeeze by, we asked for a change and we were able to get another table.
Good food but I would not go back.
