Whiskey Cake - San Antonio
The large central bar pays homage to great whiskeys with an expansive list of variations. A menu of cocktails features creative concoctions of local spirits with fresh ingredients, evocative of beverages served at a pre-prohibition bar experience.
The contemporary design of reclaimed architectural elements creates an environment that is comfortable and inviting, an ideal spot for dinner after a long workday or a lazy brunch on the weekends.
We came here for a 60th birthday celebration; fried green tomatoes were good and as well as the beet salad; the redfish was absolutely fabulous but honestly how can a restaurant named whiskey cake run OUT of whiskey cake??? Seems like they could have checked the supplies and gotten someone to cook more but we were extremely disappointed!! The manager gave us tokens for free cake next time but we left unhappy that we didn’t get our cake even though the rest of the dinner was great!
The food was delicious and everything tasted fresh!
Everything was wonderful thank
Wonderful food was fresh & enjoyable. Food server was attentive & friendly. We’ll be back!
Food was good but the kitchen seemed backed up. Our waitress was wonderful and when they ran out of whipped cream for the Whiskey Cake she was very apologetic and paid for our cake. The food was good.
We went on a very busy night. We made reservations and even though they were swamped we were seated early. The food was amazing, our server was lovely, they comped our dessert because they felt it took too long which was totally unnecessary because we could tell they were very attentive. We would go back in a heartbeat. Unique food choices and I love the fresh ingredient.
The food was delicious and the service was great. We will be sure to visit again soon.
Food was very good. Portions are average. They were very accommodating when we arrived late for your reservation.
Great experience for our anniversary!
Birthday dinner with friends. Great whiskey selection. I have lots of food allergies and they’re always very accommodating.
We brought our daughter and her boyfriend who were passing through while moving to a new state. Jayme is an excellent server. We have had him wait on us three times already. He is great! Casey, the manager, came up to our table to check on us. The place is wonderful! The service and staff are wonderful! We will definitely be back again, and again!
My redfish was very good. The other two guests said theirs was ok. Wine serving was very scimpy. Restaurant is very nice but hard to find. Servers were excellent.
Great food and service
Great and fun restaurant! We had an excellent waiter who talked us into the Whiskey cake dessert-best decision ever. You won't regret ordering it-even if you're stuffed. Easily shareable!
The air conditioning was out but still had an amazing time!
Wonderful Sunday Brunch!
We made reservations at 9pm and were promptly seated. They were quite busy which caused a small issue with my order but the server profusely apologized and otherwise we had a nice date. We ordered craft beers to drink. I do wish they were served in chilled glasses though. The beer got warm so fast. Despite these issues, I still enjoyed the ambience and food. I will definitely go there again.
Food was delicious, service was great, and love the surroundings.
First time at this restaurant. We went on a recommendation from a friend. Hostess greeted us immediately and we were seated fast. The atmosphere was very inviting. Service started out great, but we never saw our server after receiving the appetizers. We finished our main course and I had to flag down a manager to get another drink and the bill. Food was delicious, however the service was subpar for a slow night
The service here was not good. Throughout my time here I saw our waitress maybe 6 times, including her greeting us, picking up and dropping off our card. My date's Turkey Burger was great, however, my chicken sandwich was extremely bland and unseasoned. Along with the poor service, not a single server had their hair up, and I also watched a hostess chew on her hair multiple times as she walked around the restaurant. The largest redeeming quality was how delicious the Whiskey Cake at the end was, though this meal was definitely not worth the $45 it cost.
Birthday dinner for my friend. Food was great and they put a candle in her delicious whiskey cake.
they accomodated us to our request. Everything was great!
My hubby and I decided to finally make our way out to WC. We LOVED the ambiance and the wait staff was very friendly. We had reservations and were seated about 5 mins. Jeremy took time to answer questions we had regarding the menu and was very knowledgeable.
The food was exception and fresh! We both LOVED the goat cheese fondue, although I would have liked it with wheat crackers or bagel type chips. My husband looked his breakfast but did make a suggestion that the kitchen cooked the bacon consistently. He had a slice that was cooked perfectly and another slice that was almost burnt. My Hangover burger was good but needed some slight personal touches like extra mustard... But other delicious and the beef patties were soooooo juicy!!! The chips were not great. Some we soggy and others were "rubbery/chewy".
Now the whiskey cake was a must- have as many other patrons have stated. It's lives up to its name and is big enough for 2-3 people! This is a special kind of love that you can only understand once you have had it. Lol
I was surprised that they weren't more crowded when we arrived, but I would still recommend a reservation. We look forward to returning with our family and friends!
Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s were tasty. Deviled eggs and goat cheese appetizers were creamy good and waiter made sure we had enough bread for all the cheese. Brunch meals flavorful from the chicken and waffles to the jalapeño jack grits and pork brisket.
Food service was a little slower than usual but everything was delicious as usual.
The service was so slow, our 4 top was there for 2 1/2 hours. Most of that time was just waiting on our server. It wasn't that busy to warrant that long of a time. The table next to us changed 2x while we were still waiting...I don't think I'll be going there again. The food isn't that great to ignore the horrendously slow service.
Love this place!! Food, drinks and service excellent!!
Great food, and the whiskey cake dessert was fantastic
The brunch, as well as the Bloody Mary bar, was fresh, unique, and deliciously superb!
Made reservations and it took about 15 minutes to get a table. Also, food took about 1 hour to get because our order was forgotten. In the end it was what it was but don’t see myself going back for a date any time soon.
Amazing staff and food is unique and incredible. The location is convenient and the ambiance is relaxing and entertaining.
I’ve been to Whiskey Cake multiple times and the food is always good, but the service this past time was truly awful. We had to wait over 25 mins for our table when we had a reservation. We had to ask a different server to bring us our food that we saw sitting in the window for 30+minutes, the waiter never refilled our drinks, never cleared our plates and didn’t check on us once until it was time for him to give us our checks.
I will probably come back to this restaurant because it’s a fun spot, but this experience was truly disappointing.
HANDS DOWN BEST RESTAURANT EVER!! ❤️ Jamie was the best server by far!
Food is outstanding! I've not had a Cuban sandwich in awhile and my tablemates and I devoured ours! The tomato cream soup was a tad spicy, though. The little pink drink was so refreshing! Thanks -- will see y'all soon!
I love love love the decor. Its rustic and raw. There is a bloody Mary bar!!! Food was delicious and our server Seventino was attentive but gave us space. The bar is probably unbeatable, fyi. Can't wait to go back!
Excellent service. Attentive but not rushed. Appetizer recommendation was just right. Food was really good - fresh, appropriately cooked. Wish we would have made room for the whiskey cake though!
I was visiting San Antiono from Seattle. This place reminded me a lot of what we have going in Seattle. They didn't get my steak right, asked for medium and received well done. Not cool because everyone received their food and we already waited 45-50 mins to receive our food. The manager did offer me a bowl of soup for my wait. Everyone had eaten their meal by the time I received my steak. The manager realized this and took the steak off my bill. It was a great tasting grilled sirloin. The wait staff and manager were awesome, genuine and sincere. I would recommend and go back when in S.A. again. Thanks for the good times with my family!
Great like always the whiskey cake oh my god keep those ideas coming
Our server was “off”. Took her 15 min to even greet us and we had to flag someone down to get her. She repeated our order 3 or 4 times and still asked us to repeat it again. I was told our sons birthday cake was on the house and then we got charged for it. The food took forever! The coffee took forever the first time and the second order of coffee took less than a min... all our food came out at a separate time.
There was hair on my food, and the waitress was this shy awkward girl who made it super weird to ask questions. Wish I would have gone somewhere else for brunch.
