We frequently go to the Wheat Cafe to celebrate birthdays. The food is superb, the service is excellent, and it is a good value. There are always fresh flowers on the table and white tablecloths, so it makes our luncheon feel special. I especially like the creative way the food is prepared and the desserts are always delicious.

A great moderate price restaurant with excellent foods and service. Also, the gorgeous lighting at front of Mac Art building is a bonus for you to walk around after dinner. Book reservation now because they are opened at very limited day.

The service was very good. Our server, Shannon was polite and helpful and came to our table several times to see if we needed anything. The Cheese Broccoli soup as delicious. The Chicken was tender and plenty but my friend had the stew and felt that there wasn't enough meat and the portion was small.
Dessert was very good and presented very nicely.
We'll be back again for lunch, soon.

I was looking forward to the Central Farmlands menu and it did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and so fresh. The portions were just the right serving size for a lunch so I was able to indulge in a dessert. The service was friendly and attentive. I can't wait to return for the Mid-Atlantic offering in December.

The beef stew was superb. The pumpkin cheesecake had a great crust and really good flavor. Kristopher (KC) provided excellent service. Overall, great place, great food, and great service.

Great food, well-prepared and beautifully arranged on plate. Usual ingredients but always with a surprise how they are married e.g. red sweet peppers in the beef stew. (I don't do that.) The stew was centered on a mashed potato ring . Wonderful presentation!
The appetizer was a Wild Mushroom Tart. Absolutely delicious. The chef graciously shared the recipe when I asked. After reading the Basic Pate Dough part, I'll let him do it! The dessert held 3 parts-too many for me. I was so full already but I had to eat it!

I found this place to be very nice. It is small, so it's not load when you are there. The lunch is served and cooked by the COD students. You only have 2 choices for each course, but they both were very good. They seam to have different menus' about every 6 weeks, so I will be going to have another menu later this month. I'm looking forward to it. The price is great for the amount of food that you get.

We have been to the Wheat Cafe several times, generally to celebrate a birthday, and found it first rate in every way. The food is delicious, the surroundings lovely, and the service excellent. I particularly like having fresh flowers on the table to make the experience feel more special.

Our server Catherine was excellent! Would have been nice to see a menu beforehand. Only issue we had was using opentable--the program has its challenges!

Wheat cafe is a favorite - the food is always good and imaginative - we especially like the vegetable sandwiches and roasted pepper potato salad. Value is good, and its a great way to support up and coming chefs. The dining room is very attractive with a pleasant view, and the pace of service is just right.

Service, food and noise level were excellent. The portions were just the right size with so many courses, we were there for dinner. While dining I suddenly realized how pleasantly quiet it was though all patrons were conversing. Highly recommend! Students were true professionals!

Our lunch was delicious! One enjoyed the beef stew; other enjoyed the chicken entrée. The beef barley soup and the arugula salad were very good. I enjoyed the wild rice and fruited sauce served with the chicken. Both of enjoyed the delicious tiramusi and biscotti. Service was excellent. The servers worked together very well, providing assistance to other servers when needed. Other servers cleared items from our table and refilled water glasses when our server was busy helping others. Our server was professional, attentive and personable. Just a note.....servers could be more courteous and serve the women at a table before serving the men.

To get a booking for the Wheat Cafe is a challenge in itself as this gem is popular. Our dining experience there was enjoyable before heading to the afternoon showing of the Global Films, which was a short walk away at the MAC. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. We were seated at a proper table setting with lovely flowers brightening the cold Spring day. Our server was diligent in her attention and monitoring our progress. The Wisconsin cheddar broccoli soup was tasty and creamy. The arugula salad with roasted beets and cider vinaigrette was fresh and well presented. The sautéed chicken breast over wild rice and sautéed Kale, with a dried fruit demi-glace had interesting textures and tastes with each bite. The portion was more than ample and was enjoyed the next day at home. Dessert choices were Tiramisu with Chocolate Biscotti, or a Napoleon with a a poached pear. The tiramisu was good as was the biscotti.

There were little touches happening that normally one wouldn't mention. One could see that there was teamwork among the servers and their duties. The preparation happening behind the scene to the platings exciting the kitchen was consistent . Kudos to the educators with their high standards they instill in this program. There was a large group dining that day. To see servers, staff, and cooks come out at one time to serve the main course to this group at the same time said a lot of the care they had the diners' experience.

These young budding professionals and the wisdom and foresight of their teachers to provide an experience worthy of this profession is amazing. I must remind myself that these are students learning a time honored profession. As Julia Child would say, "Bon Appetit"!

The Wheat cafe is a College of DuPage student run cafe. This is part of a class that the culinary students take. The food is excellent. The room is on noisy side. Great place for lunch.

The Wheat Cafe delighted and surprised us with their delicious foods. This was a wonderful experience for dinner especially as we were meeting a new couple. The atmosphere was relaxing and the service was exceptional. We all agreed we would be coming back again to enjoy the menu and the cost was extremely reasonable.

We both enjoyed the green lentil soup, arugula salad, salmon and the brioche served in our bread basket. My husband enjoyed the berry mousse dessert and I enjoyed the chocolate mousse. Our server John did a great job. He was personable and attentive. Other servers assisted by filling our water glasses and coffee cups. The salmon was perfectly cooked. Enjoyed the potato/fennel mash and the roasted vegetables. Our lunch was delicious! We enjoyed every bite.
