What a great spot to take my dad for his birthday! Food was superb, and the wine list has so many outstanding values! Will come again for sure.
Great food. Waitress was wonderful. I don't like Brussel sprouts but these were delightful
Great overall dining experience !! Our evening started with well crafted cocktails and wonderful crabmeat cocktails , followed by perfectly prepared, tender, juicy and flavorful lamb chops . Service was professional; very reasonably priced wine and quite comfortable seating. It had been a few years since we had been here, but it will be quite soon when we return.
Our meal was absolutely delicious and the service was fast and friendly:)
The table was ready for our arrival. The food was excellent. Our waitress was not on her game. She was pleasant but could have visited our table more often. She forgot to serve our after dinner drinks with our dessert.
We had four couples get together for a night out without our (combined) 10 children. That definitely made it a special occasion! We had a little trouble deciding where to go on our kid free night. What If...Of Hershey turned out to be a great choice! Relaxing atmosphere, good food, nice cocktail and wine selection. Our server was friendly and service was quite fast for a sit down restaurant. The option to reserve our table via Open Table was convenient, too. Don't let let the fact that it's in the basement of a Howard Johnson deter you from dining here. It really has a nice ambiance. Be prepared to spend a bit more than you may at a chain restaurant but it's well worth it!
A few of us went to What If.... for dinner after seeing a show at the Hershey Theatre. Was surprised to find it in the bottom of a Howard Johnson’s but that ensured easy parking! We were promptly greeted and seated to a table of our choice - booth or table, we chose a booth. Ordered drinks and an appetizer - the baked Brie-it was delicious! Could have eaten a second one. We ordered -special was the snapper, the chicken Milanese, butternut ravioli and the short rib with kimchi. The wait was minimal and the meals were delicious! We were all quite satisfied. We each chose a desert - tiramisu, creme brûlée, berry cobbler and OMG the profiterole! TO DIE FOR! We were very pleased with our first visit to What If... and decided What If... we find another outing in Hershey to come back again!
Always great service and food. Also prices are reasonable.
Birthday. The place was very noisy at 5:45 in the evening. Loud at the bar. The waitress was not friendly at all but did give us the essential items.
We had steak, seafood, salad and pasta with our group. Everyone enjoyed the food. Great to have Devil Backbone beer from Lexington VA. Not many offer this in Central PA.
Great cuisine, and cozy environment. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. Highly recommend this place.
Donna is the best. Looks after us every year.
We’ve always been impressed in the past. My husband has had many business dinners at What If and had great experiences. On Saturday, service was slow and it took much too long to get our appetizers and meal. We were told a large private party was the reason for the delay. The food was good, but not exceptional. The mashed potatoes were luke warm at best. And the brussel sprouts were over cooked and soggy.
this has been our 8th time at What If and we are never disappointed.
We love this place, the food, the wait staff and dine here on our annual girls weekend in Hershey!
Food was good, service was abysmal. We waited 80 minutes for our food, people came after us and ate and left before us.
We ordered the kids Mac and cheese and it was kraft from a box. What a joke at these prices and in an Italian restaurant.
When we come to Hershey for our conference this is always on the top of our list. We get appetizers that we all share then a salad but we all leave room for the peanut butter pie. It is the best we have ever had!
Everything was PERFECT from beginning to end - Service, food, drinks - GREAT
It was a 'last minute choice' but we will DEFINITELY go again and recommend to friends!
Drinks were ok. My protein was ok but the potatoes were cold. I got the feeling that my meal sat out for some time before being served. Our server was nice. Overall a disappointing experience and no restaurant should allow hot food to be sent out cold. What if...never again.
It was fantastic as always!
When we drove up to the restaurant and saw that it was located in the basement of a Howard Johnson Hotel we didn’t know what to expect. We walked passed the check in and down the staircase into a beautiful mahogany bar surrounded by inviting leather booths and small tables.
Since it was still Happy Hour we had 2 excellent Martinis for $13. Although we did not take advantage of the half price appetizers we could see from those around us that they were a good deal. The bartender, Dennis, was friendly and made a great drink. Afterwards , we were seated in a large, comfortable booth and served a delicious dinner. We went back the next night to enjoy the Happy Hour appetizers and drinks. This restaurant is a hidden gem and a must visit.
Excellent range of menu options and friendly service!
We came here for a date night and had a great time. We were first confused of where it was since it was in the basement of a hotel but it was a cool environment, amazing food and good service. We would recommend.
We enjoyed our visit to What If... of Hershey very much. The noise level was low which allowed for quiet conversations. Our waitress was attentive yet not intrusive. The food was great and the portions generous. Overall, this restaurant provided a perfect date night experience where we could have a conversation and enjoy some really great food! Highly recommend a visit to try it for yourself!! You won't be disappointed. Only downside was that it is on the lower level and there is no elevator.
It was so nice and romantic for my spouse and I! Fast service, amazing food, and just a good atmosphere to be in!
We were there for valentine's day.great service good atmosphere is nice.the steak was disappointing. It was grossly I mean not that tastey.more fat then meat.for $39 way to much for a sirloin with the bone in..didn't want complain. It was a special occasion. We were the 1st there that should hav been ck....
Nice time! It got extremely loud so we had to raise our voices to talk. There was not enough sauce at all on both of our dishes but they were still pretty good. Just needed more sauce.
We have eaten at this restaurant before and were not disappointed on our return visit. The service was great, the food delicious and the atmosphere relaxing. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a drink at the bar, a nice dinner, or a party for a larger group.
Food and service were excellent as always....I make a special trip to What if when I'm in town
Dinner was excellent as always--good for special occasions. If the restaurant is busy a little noisy. Wait staff is very good.
Very loud table behind us that ruined our evening. Food was good, service was very slow.
This was our firs time there and all the workers were very polite . The bartender actually introduced herself to us since it was our first time and made us feel welcome. Our server was amazing. Very friendly and polite. Will definitely be back and tell people about What If.
Reviews indicated this was a great place and it did not disappoint.
Nice semi-private booths and tables. Outstanding food! Outstanding service!
The food was excellent. Server was very friendly and attentive by checking with us. Booked reservations on line, very easy and able to see hours available. Very good experience, enjoyed our evening. Desert was very good.
This is our annual anniversary “restaurant of choice”. Great food, quiet setting, good service and a good value. Consistently recommend this place to folks who want an elegant meal for a fair price.
Fun place to meet friends for dinner, expansive menu (food and drink), and friendly service.
cozy place. Good food.
Food was excellent; however, service was extremely slow. It took about an hour to receive our salads. Total meal time was two hours for a table of four.
Another great meal at What If. We were only disappointed that the profiterole du jour was s not the peanut butter signature selection. Our server, Bethany, was very attentive and personable. The Sirius 70s station playing was a bit awkward and out of place. We always enjoy What If.
The service on NYE was a little slow, but friendly. My daughters dinner portion of shrimp scampi was extremely small and too “lemony”. The crab cakes were delicious.
