I will definitely be returning to Westwood Bistro. The modern decor and formal dining is exactly what I look for in a restaurant for a nice dinner out. The bar, though small, is also a great place to meet a friend and have a drink. I highly recommend this bistro.
The food was very mediocre. Our waiter came over every 5 minutes. It was so annoying! I will not be back. Ugh
Overall, a great experience. Food was very good, portions were generous, and the service staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Only issue was a menu in which everything was not available (out of season, yet still on the menu.)
Out of 3 items at 7:30 0n a Sat. night. Very limited menu. Waiter continually popped up behind a half wall next to our table and just stood staring. Food was average at best and overpriced for what you got
This is our second visit in a span of two days after we celebrated our anniversary the first time. The restaurant have a broad variety menu to choose from with a little bit of everything for everyone. It is a neighborhood gem. It also has an outdoor patio with a fireplace which I am sure will be made available when the weather changes to conducive al fresco dining.
We celebrated our anniversary dinner here for the fist time. It was a neighborhood gem because we did not realize that the place used to be a Burger King. They did a wonderful job with renovating the interior that it was more than what we expected. They have a broad selection menu that is has something for everyone.
The highlight of our evening was our server, Enrique. He was knowledgeable about the food and the cocktails, and entertained us with wonderful conversation. Thank you!! Russ at the bar makes a fantastic Old Fashioned, and my mother really enjoyed her Dark and Stormy (both with ice spheres!!). The bread was served with a really wonderful whipped herb butter, and we barely refrained from gobbling it down in lieu of dinner. We both ordered the Salad de Provence, which was very fresh and tasty, with tender and flavorful steak. Dessert consisted of the Creme Brûlée and the Chocolate Mousse. We agreed that the fantastically decadent Mousse won, but the Creme Brûlée was very good, with proper vanilla bean flecks and an excellent sugar crust. Prices were reasonable for Lake Forest, though I might have wished for a bit more steak on the salad for nearly $20. Service was friendly, unobtrusive where appropriate, and prompt; neither of us ever had an empty water glass, which is a personal pet peeve. We'll be back for sure!
Service was great, food was delicious! Menu has something for everyone.
Really looked forward to a special St Valentines Day dinner. We had enjoyed dining there before. Service was excellent. Host even found us a quiet out-of-the-way booth which we really appreciated. My sushi appetizer was good, not great. My husband's steak au poive, which he ordered medium rare, came medium well and he had to return it. He said the piece of meat on the re-do was not of equal quality. Too much gristle. And the accompaniments were too garbled. My scallops were very good, but 4 small scallops seemed more like an appetizer portion and for the price bordered on unacceptable. I've had scallop dinners at other quality restaurants which usually consist of at least 5 large scallops, well seasoned. There are just too many other quality restaurants in the area. Unfortunately this one is off our list.
We had a great family Valentines Day. The sushi is fantastic.
