What Insiders Are Saying
Westward is a place that will make you excited to live in Seattle. (Or consider buying property here ASAP.)
Wonderful view; lively and fun atmosphere, Great service and a very tasty menu!
The venue, food, and service were excellent. But we were shocked by the high price of individual oysters and the fact that there was no discount for orders of 1/2 dozen or dozen. We've never encountered that before and were taken aback. It seemed very ungenerous and not in keeping with the restaurant as a whole.
Westward is one the brightest gems in Seattle. I took a new-to-town friend there for dinner the other night, and it was fantastic - the servers were absolutely on top of everything, the food was stellar, and the view and ambience are always lovely. Nothing like a waterfront restaurant with amazing food, great service, and a fire pit, to boot. He was suitably impressed by the whole experience and I was happy to have gotten to introduce him to Westward.
My friend and I had a most enjoyable evening, with wonderful wines and very tasty dishes (the cod was cooked to perfection). Kevin was our server and definitely added to our celebratory mood! He was attentive and friendly with a great sense of humor, and he answered all our questions knowledgeably.
I just love this place. I thought I just loved it when the sun's out, but it turns out it's a great go-to any time of year.
A quiet waterfront location with a view of Seattle downtown. Well prepared and presented dishes.
A sample of oysters was a good start followed by Fred halloumi cheese. Entrees of pan fired trout and pork pan smells were very good.
Reasonable wine list and prices.
Service is very good. We will definitely return.
Probably the best view of the city in Seattle. The Black Cod was excellent as well.
The food here was AMAZING. It doesn't have a large menu but the food was so delicious as were the cocktails. It sits on Lake Union so you have a great view of the city. There is a fire pit with seating outside as well so if would be a fun place to hang out with friends.
Brunch is delicious! Make sure you get the Dutch baby or something with the potatoes 🤤🤤
Oysters were wonderful and flavorful. Three varieties; different complementary tastes. Good advice from staff. Black cod cooked perfectly. Grilled octopus and risotto well prepared. Desert menu uninspired. Ordered a cheese plate, but offerings were rather bland. Overall, great experience.
We had a wonderful dinner at Westward for our first night in Seattle for a quick New Year's trip. Service was prompt and the waiter was very helpful in steering us towards meals that were amazing. I would definetely recommend!
Staff was warm and helpful. Food was excellent and inventive. Love the variety of food. The ambiance is great winter and summer.
Awesome atmosphere, fascinating menu, quirky and attentive servers - overall very fun place to eat.
Lovely place with such an amazing seasonal menu - such a joy to try all the different types of oysters and loved the wine list
Everything was great, food and ambient but we were celebrating my wife’s bday, which I let the host know in advance, but the staff didn’t do anything special, even though when the couple next to us was also celebrating a bday, they got a desert and a candle 🙄
The waiter was fabulous and offered a sample of two wines when I couldn’t decide which I would prefer. The cocktails were tasty. I was floored by the mushroom risotto!
Great service and delicious food!
The service was slow and the lamb tasted like
sheep. The ambiance is top. Maybe just a place to drink and just eat a few select items.
Another lovely brunch at Westward! Fourth time this year, it’s our new go to brunch spot for special occasions including showing off our great city to out of town guests Food, ambiance and service is always spot on! Highly recommend!
Why not just close for the winter? Limited menu and very tired service.
The view on Lake Union. Comfy atmosphere and decent vibe.
We went for a birthday brunch.
It was delicious and the waterfront location was beautiful.
We actually got HOT sitting in the glassed in area because of the radiant sunshine...which was unexpected for November.
Westward and I need a temporary time out...if it were solely about the quality of the food and the chefs, it would be a match made in heaven! That team is made of rock stars. The quality, the preparation and presentation - knocked out of the park, every time! The wait staff....just keeps missing a beat. The other night with a 300$+ dinner tab and a major snafu of 2 of everything ordered accidentally, to a waiter at brunch that missed the no eggs, and no dairy....just the avocado toast, potatoes, and sausage.... it's just that attention to detail that seems to be missing. And the interesting part - it's never busy enough for that to be the excuse... so not sure what it is. Again though - the kitchen/chef/person responsible for purchasing the foot - AMAZING!
Good not so good, very cute spot though! Service was very slow
Wine is too expensive- needs some in the $40-&50 ramge
I have such mixed reviews on Westward. It has such a lovely ambiance... but the food & service have been inconsistent each time I've gone. Sometimes the food is flavorful, delicious and well executed. Other times, its bland and not noteworthy at all. This visit was for brunch and I brought several friends from San Francisco. None of us had a meal worth talking about and was just so-so. For the price, it stings a bit.
I enjoy the summers on the adirondack chairs for nibbles & cocktails and will probably just leave my visits to that instead of brunch or dinner :(
I wish I would have came here during warmer days so I could sit on one of their lounge chairs and watch the boats go by. Other than that this restaurant feels very true to Seattle, unlike all the shallow Amazonian spots that are popping up all around SLU. The menu is consistent with PNW dishes. The service was perfect, our server came by just at the right times, and was very efficient, it never felt like I had to pause when someone walked by, everything was very seamless. The portion sizes were actually a lot larger than I would expect for a place like this, which is a huge plus, you don't feel like you're paying a fancy price for an uncomfortably small dish. This place is a must try for Seattle restaurants.
This place was a delightful find. It was a dinner date before going out to a concert and Westward was just perfect for that. The menu was exceptionally small, but looked great. We both had the pan seared halibut, which was as good as either of us had ever experienced. The prices were about in line with other waterfront seafood restaurants in the area. The service was absolutely superb. The interior is a little bit precious in its take on the beach house vibe, but nevertheless felt comfortable and interesting. We will definitely be back. The only negative was that parking is extremely limited - we lucked into the last available spot within a block, for a 5:30 reservation (i.e. before the dinner rush).
We stumbled upon Westward on our walk around the lake and loved the view and the vibe straight away. We had a brunch and Bloody Mary sitting on the outside chairs at the stunning view. We booked for dinner the following weekend and can safely say it is our favorite meal so far in Seattle having moved here 2 weeks ago. We have a friend visiting from the UK next weekend...and yes we have booked again for dinner! Also looking forward to taking the oyster class they offer which looks great.
Great food, great location, service is hit-or-miss.
The setting is great and the food is excellent. There were only 5 of us and we still found it a too loud but that seems to be a thing these days. Still, it would have been nice to be able to talk.
Great spot overlooking the water and downtown Seattle with a special outdoor deck with a fire pit. Really good oyster selection, vegetable sides, egg dishes and snacks to share plus nice beverage list. Make sure you try the butterscotch pot de creme for dessert!
AMAZING food, AMAZING view, and the service was great. Definitely recommend heading over for a sunset dinner or casual brunch on a sunny day.
Too much fusion going on with the food. I had the octopus salad and the pork entrée. Both were carefully crafted but the mix of flavors was confusing. Great service and a remarkable setting.
Great food, great service, a little noisy. As at communal table. Great view.
The view outside is great. The food and service are fine but the food is quite expensive for what you get.
Brunch menu doesn’t have a lot options. Strange menu. Would recommend going for dinner. Atmosphere is incredible on the water.
Food was great but a bit overpriced. My pork was dry. Husband’s trout was delicious. Desserts were basically 5 bites. Outdoor seating was unfortunately limited to first come.
Great meal. I've been many times and loved it. Finally got to meet chef Will (Gordon?) this time! He seemed like a humble guy considering he cooks such great food. He probably needs a synonym for "rustic" though - he seemed to describe all the food that way. At any rate the food and service were great - my fav dish was a grilled halibut on some grains with pesto. There was a lot going on but it all came together beautifully.
