Westville Hudson Ratings and Reviews
Been here about five times and never disappointed. Usually it is before we go to City Winery, so our time is limited to about an hour. The menu offers lots of choices, with vegetarian & healthy options, and everything we and friends have had were enjoyed. This includes Tacos; Shepherd's Pie; Tuna Tartare; other fish; and Mexican Cobb Salad, to name a few. Service is always timely, and they have Happy Hour 7 days a week, I believe 5-8, which is nice. They also have many vegetables offered as side orders, or a combination as a main, that are nicely prepared. Will try out their other locations as well.
Westville is a great choice for healthy, consistently good food at reasonable prices. This one on Hudson Street takes reservations and there is ample space between tables for comfortable conversation. Unfortunately, our first server was terrible and never checked back when our order was delivered incorrectly. Appreciate the help of the server who finally stepped in to help us. Love the salmon, arugula salad and turkey burgers here! Everything on the menu is very tasty!
The portions here are huge for all reasonable prices. We ordered two appetizer-like bites for $8 each, then couldn't even order our entrees because of the size.
Overall just a nice find. I was happy because I was able to eat vegan options while my date who is not vegan was able to order anything as well. Vegan/Vegetarian friendly is always a plus!
I've eaten here before but this time was really disappointing. Breaded chicken was completely tasteless (dry, no seasoning whatsoever)...as was the brocolli and kale.. like plain boiled vegetables. Lastly the pie was so sad- rhubarb berries- the filling was total mush. Their apple pie is good, but avoid the rhubarb.
Conveniently located across the street from the Children's Art Museum which we thought was a plus.
No bread offered to start. When asked we were given an advance few slices with the explanation that the bread would normally come with my wife's meal and they are giving it to us now.
My Benedict was made special without meat and was served room temp. with an untoasted bun and almost no holndaise sauce to speak of. My wife's was also not hot and also light on the holdaise sauce. After finally getting our waitress to come over she admitted they are light on the sauce and would bring out more. Waitress never came over to see how meal was until we were nearly done and ready to go.
It is a nice and bright location but the service and food could have been much better To be clear, the food actually looked nice but the execution on how it came to us killed the meal.
The food and drinks here are always fresh and delicious. Great service too - the staff are all super friendly and accommodating. Hard to have quiet dinner conversation, as the acoustics make this place really noisy, but that is the only downside to this place. We often eat here before taking in a show at nearby City Winery - the food is better and way more reasonably priced.
Nice place. Eating outside on the sidewalk is very pleasant and quiet--it's not a noisy or heavily trafficked location. Inside it's noisy and busy at peak times. Youngish crowd; I'm not but still feel comfortable. The vegetables are a marvel, great variety, perfectly cooked--you choose what comes with the protein, or there's a 4-veggie plate, your choice from maybe twenty different. Wine list is short and to the point, good selections.
Saw the menu and at first glance was expecting just typical café food....little did I know that this place was more than just that. The market vegetables were all so INCREDIBLE! They were prepared different ways with different flavors that I would have never thought of to pair. The men got salmon that was cooked perfectly, the ladies got hamburgers that were thick and juicy and the little one got a hot dog the size of her head. Excellent beer selection and happy hour was a variety of wines and cocktails. Only problem was it was SO loud and when youre trying to catch up with friends, it was hard to constantly yell over the music/other patrons. I would highly recommend and expect to come back next time I'm in town.
Great little cafe with a very healthy menu. So much variety on the menu that it was hard to choose. Happy hour is very extended so we
Got happy hour prices for our drinks. This is a great find for a nice meal in the west village neighborhood. There were a few outdoor dining tables that round out the ambiance.
I have eaten here a few times before, and absolutely loved it. But the last time had been a year ago until this weekend. I was so disappointed by how much the food has gone downhill. We had to add salt to everything, which is never a good sign, and almost all of the food (veggies and meat) was too chewy. I'm really sad because this was one of my favorite places in the city, and now I'm embarrassed to have brought my friends there.
