First time visit. Excellent pate, steak frites, & seared scallops over truffle risotto. Will definitely return.
The chef's special of halibut with a coconut lime sauce and quinoa was amazing, and the cheese plate is fantastic. Definitely going back, and would even go back some night just for wine and the cheese plate alone.
We have dined here in the past and enjoyed the bistro atmosphere. While our meals have been good, we were not prepared for the terrific food prepared by the new chef. My husband had halibut with a light tarragon sauce served with quinoa and vegetable stuffed peppers. Hands down the most delicious thing I have eaten in recent memory. I had a lovely gazpacho with citrus poached crab and avocado and their divine beet salad. Delicious! Great service from Lindsay. Good wine selection, fairly priced. We'll be back soon!
Wonderful! The food was outstanding! Tried the braised beef, the name doesn't do it justice! It was amazing!
We were in town Friday and Saturday, for the Westport Art Fair (among other things) from STL. We read in Feast that this was rated #1 brunch location. So, we went back Sunday. Reservation making on the net was very easy considering the fair was occurring on the same street. I thought the "complimentary" bloody mary was very average....WAY too much horseradish and not enough other seasonings, i.e. celery salt, tabasco, worchestershire sauce, etc. But, the coup de grace was my husband's order of eggs and bacon. He asked for "toast" and found out they did not know what to do with the request!!! Now, they make croque madam's and other brioche items, but NO TOAST. The gracious waiter "found" something resembling "toast" and charged us an extra $3......really? Also, they present their menu as very french. I ordered the omelet with pomme frites. Expected a perfect FRENCH omelet. Not even close. Liked service and atmosphere, but we were very disappointed with the Feast rating as Best Brunch in KC.
Two people in our party of four sent back their Eggs Benedict, because the poached eggs were cold. They were brought fresh plates, which were fine. The Manager/Owner came to the table and apologized. They brought us all a complimentary great dessert. The service was great.
Fun place-good food and service
We love this place. Wonderful food , attentive service both at a reasonable price.
My fiancé and I dined here for our anniversary and it was amazing. The food and the cocktails were great! Would go back more often if we lived in Kansas City! Recommended for foodies that love trying many different courses and cocktails.
The most amazing food, everything we tried was delicious! The owners are so kind and have the most wonderful French accents. Will be coming back here often!
This place is a KC gem. I cannot say enough good things about it. It was Steak Fritte night so I was super happy. My friend had the cassoulet. HUGE leftovers of the cassoulet were donated to me and made the most awesome lunch the next day.
Thanks Kevin for great service...and Nicolas/Sam the week before.
See you again soon...love this place
We have benn coming here for years. Great place and always spot on.
Attended the Cassoulet dinner. The entree was delicious, wine was the perfect accompaniment, chocolate mousse dessert is the best in town!
Best overall restaurant for high end dining in KC.
Nick and Sam were wonderful- just as good as the food. This place is truly a gem with authentic French food. The only way to make this better would be to add a sidewalk Café. And bigger steaks with the steak fritte 😉
I really enjoyed the Brioche French Toast. It was delicious and the fruit with the whipped cream was spot on! It came with bacon and I also ordered a side of hash browns which both were great! I also ordered a Bloody Maria (bloody mary with tequila) and it was perfect! I will definitely go back again!
Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Our mussels and lamb chops were very good.
The service was great, and the food very good, but when we were there for brunch there was a non-food odor throughout the restaurant. It smelled like something plumbing-related, but I don't know what it was. It was not pleasant. The only other concern I had was that the waitress, who was very attentive, did not have any immediate knowledge about the ingredients in the menu offerings. One of our table has a severe, but common, food allergy and the waitress did not have any clue whether any dish might have a trigger food in it. It was fine - she was able to go back and ask in the kitchen - but inconvenient. We didn't see anywhere on the menu that denoted whether certain foods had any common triggers in them either.
Excellent service and awesome brunch!!! Have already recommended this place to my clients and will return soon!!!
The food was absolutely divine, the service impeccable and all done in a friendly, no attitude atmosphere. It's just a great spot if you're looking for a nice but not stuffy dinner experience.
Nice atmosphere. My risotto was badly over salted to the point that I couldn’t eat it note -they did offer to replace it but I opted not since my date would have been long done eating before I got the replacement.
I always get the steak frites and it is delicious every time. My friend loved the lamb. Good craft cocktails as well!
The food was good, but very small portions. Limited menu. Just wasn't that impressed.
Our service was professional and spot on. My cocktail selection was Pimm’s Cup. Amazing! I had black truffle rissoto which was as described. My husband was pleased with his braised ribs on mashed potato. But once again our service was most impressive for our dining experience. We will be back again.
This was my second trip. Once I had the endless mussels and pommes frites, this time the steak and pommes frites. I've also tried their black truffle risotto. First, the pommes frites are truly the best, hands down. The steak was perfectly prepared to order and served with herbed butter and bernaise. Wonderful. The risotto is one of the best I've ever had - creamy, flavorful, rich. The mussels are on the menu but not usually endless - it was a Bastille Day special. Still, I highly recommend them - split an order as an appetizer. Prices are reasonable, the wine list is limited but quite good, and the atmosphere is like that of a Paris bistro. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
The food here is out of this world. I did the Bastille day 3 course menu and each course was delicious. The shrimp were juicy and in an amazing sauce. The duck confit was heavenly. The strawberry soup was very refreshing and a perfect end to a heavy meal.
I've always enjoyed eating here, even though the noise level is often a challenge. After my most recent experience I'm over it. So, so loud....can't even enjoy conversation with a friend. I'm outta there.
4/8 people said their food was too salty. Never had that experience at WCB before
Food and service, as always, was excellent. I do enjoy the ambiance of Westport Café and Bar. It's almost like being in France.
Absolutely the BEST brunch fare in the KC area. A hidden gem in Westport. It has become our favorite place on Saturday & Sunday (and we live in Overland Park)!
Superb in every way
Our server Andrew was wonderful and attentive. We went as a date here because of reviews and menu. The lamb chops were honestly just ok and under seasoned. People at the bar were literally screaming at each other. Which is great but I figured it was more of a romantic and upper scale place.
I love this place!! It is always fabulous!
We have made it our summer mission to try every restaurant in town that we've not been to. Westport Cafe/Bar is a gem in the heart of the city. Great food and cocktails. Will visit again!
Unbelievable experience!! Not sure which was better ..... the service or the food. Both were incredible!!!
The music speakers were much too loud when we came. After moving us to a table farther away from the speakers, the music was turned down. It was quite hard to carry on a normal voice conversation at first. We were glad it was taken care of.
Salad was swimming in dressing. Frites were good, but steak was tough. Wine was over-priced.
Fantastic, as usual!!
This was an unexpected treasure. It’s really a terrific French bistro worth a visit anytime. Highly recommend.
