Westport Cafe & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful, authentic French Bistro in Westport. Nick, the co-owner has created a warm and unpretentious atmosphere. Being our first time here, Nick reviewed the menu with us and made suggestions. They offer an extensive happy hour with discounted appetizers and wine/beer. I highly recommend the shrimp and crab cake. My spouse had the steak and frites and I had the fish special, sea bass. Romain, the executive chef takes great pride in the innovative menu. At one point during the evening he stopped out of the kitchen to greet the patrons. We ended our meal with profiteroles and the croissant bread pudding. The desserts were large enough to share, but why should you when they are this delicious?
We went during restaurant week, ordered off RW menu for one of us and ala carte for the other.
Service was great, even though RW is often crowded and busy. We had excellent care from lovely people.
Food was just amazing: creamy onion soup and croque madame, simple but outstanding. The RW menu had pate, braised beef and banana creme brulee, all wonderful.
Interesting cocktails and wine.
Just a wonderful experience.
Had a great brunch with a group of 7, the atmosphere is cute but casual, they offered a free drink with a brunch menu item which we all loved and our waitress was friendly, helpful, and attentive. I think if our group had been any bigger we would have been too large for the space but it worked out really nicely and we all enjoyed the delicious food!
My friends and I enjoyed our holiday brunch a lot one omelet, two Benedicts and a chicken hash were all delicious, and the service was very attentive. The noise level was pretty high - not a surprise given the packed house and bad acoustics. The biggest complaint remains finding a parking spot. Nothing much to be done about that.
We had a reservation at 8:00 and they make us wait until 8:40 and the hostess was very unapologetic about it. Start us off on the wrong foot. Got better from there as the food was very good and the service was too. Just expect when you get a reservation that you will get your table on time or at least the host will try to make it up to you some way.
We were seated right next to the door and it was terribly cold. We asked for a different seat and was told there were none. When the waitress stopped by to greet us we asked again and were able to get another seat thankfully. My wife was told about some type of wine. It was really good. When we got the bill the single glass of wine was $20. Since we were not told about the cost and it was not on the menu we objected to the cost. They adjusted the price of the glass of wine to $10 which seamed reasonable. The food was good our waitress then our waiter at the next table transferred to did a great job. Seating was tight however It had a nice atmosphere. A few issues but overall they did a good job trying to take care of our concerns
We chose Westport Cafe & Bar because we were looking for a French Restaurant prior to going to Les Miserables. Looking at reviews & menus, Westport Cafe looked like a solid pick. We were so glad we chose this restaurant. Four of us shared the cheese tray & the oysters from the happy hour menu. Then each of us ordered something different for dinner. My creamy risotto with black truffle was the best risotto I’ve had in years. My friends were also quite pleased with their entrees: seafood fettuccini, croque madame, & the Tuesday night special, steak with pomme frites. We also shared 3 of the delicious desserts: chocolate mousse, profiteroles, & bread pudding with Angles sauce. The excellent food was matched by wonderful service from Laken. I will definitely be back.
This was a wonderful experience! This is a very comfy adorable little restaurant. We had the cheese plate, Island Salmon and Braised Beef….all were wonderful! Best meal in a very long time!!
Our waiter and the wait staff could not have been nicer. Great experience!!
We brought a group of 8 in to the restaurant. The staff had our table ready in a secluded area so we could have great conversation and get caught up. The staff was very professional and knowledgeable. We enjoyed seasonal appetizers and salads before our main courses. The food was prepared perfectly. We had soup, oysters, salads and charcuterie. The main dishes included some of the beef specials and pasta. The food was spot on perfect and the service was equally as good. We were all served our food hot (at the same time). Everyone in the group was also pleasantly surprised by the price value. We thought the experience was extremely economical for the great time had by all
I can't say enough about this place! I can't believe it's been open for 7 years and just had my first WC&B experience, but I plan to rectify that soon. Absolutely wonderful service, astonishingly delicious food, and fantastic drinks. I want to recommend WC&B to everyone, but then it'll be busy all the time....
Recommended by our hotel and really a terrific place ! We are from Colorado and traveling for anniversary trip get away, staying on Westport neighborhood near museums . Wonderful place s with gracious younger owners and staff that enjoy telling the history of this neighborhood gem- reminded us of boulder or Denver French bistros that cater to a signature menu of classic simple and well prepared French foods. Lamb chops for 25 bucks prepared to perfection , classic fois gres and scallops over risotto with truffles. Reasonable wine list and classic cocktails that are reasonable and offer great choice.
This is a place that any visitor to KC should try - back for brunch on weekends - the best value for drinks and classic fare
Thanks to owner and staff for a KC welcome!!
