Wonderful dinner at Westport Cafe. Had been to brunch several times but this was our first dinner. Well balanced selections with interesting twists on traditional entrees without being too out there. All sauces were spectacular. Salmon with broccoli and ginger was so fresh as was the lemon and pea ravioli. Shrimp and crab cake was awarded two thumbs up by our entire group. Escargot could have used a little garlic. Lovely atmosphere. Fair prices. Great time!
One of my favorite mid town places
Kevin one of the co/owners is a great guy and cares about good food ambiance and friendly service staff Excellent French European style affair
Westport Cafe & Bar is our go-to place for brunch. There isn't a single bad thing on the menu, and you get a complementary drink!
We had a wonderful dinner. The staff, and especially the owner, was warm and accommodating. Everything we ate was prepared perfectly and tasted great. It was a perfect Valentines date night.
Perfect place for a light meal before the theater
or for happy hour! Had petite steak and frites and mussels—both delish! Very good cocktails, too! Been there many times for dinner, too. Always good!
The food was great as was the service. We have also been there for brunch several times. Love the place. Seems like a little bit of France in Westport. We'll be back.
We love Westport. The kitchen is extraordinary. Tonight as always we love pomme frites for a starter. Our mains of mussels and the scallops were perfectly executed. For a palate cleanser the arugula w truffle oil was wonderful to lead to our finish with blissful cappuccino and bread pudding. Our bartender also made a “special” savory tequila mixer for my brother that we all loved. And never forget your server! Fab!
I went here for Saturday brunch with my daughter. Made reservations. Was sided by the bathroom. Our food was just okay. And our service was very subpar. Was expecting more and got less.
This week, I discovered Westport Cafe and Bar. Not sure why I didn’t know about it long before now; however, made up for the lost opportunities as we ate here twice this week. Evening #1: a group of gal pals ate here before heading onto the theater. Evening #2: a couples’ night out. Both experiences were outstanding on all levels. Appetizers between the two meals: Pomme frites, cheese board, salmon, and ravioli...the frites were a huge hit: hot, salty, crunchy and creamy! Yummmmm!
The seasonal soup, roasted cauliflower with cashews, was the perfect beginning on a cold night. Truffle risotto was perfectly al dente and perfectly seasoned. The portion was quite generous. The salmon entree was a great call, the salmon was moist and tasty. The final guest ordered a pasta entree and didn’t leave a morsel.
The service Nick provided was exceptional. He was friendly and welcoming. He answered all our questions about the menu with grace and patience. His enthusiasm to ensure his customers enjoyed the dining experience was appreciated by our group. We will return...often. Next time, we hope to make it to their weekend brunch.
I had the scallops and risotto and my husband the salmon- both dishes were amazing He also loved the cauliflower soup. Really great food.
Went for a birthday with my husband and we had a lovely time. Great ambiance and were pleasantly surprised that they had a happy hour menu even on the weekend. The chocolate mousse was absolutely delicious!
Food was terrific, as always. It does get rather loud during brunch, but not too terribly bad.
We love this place. Many great selections. Unfortunately, my gourmet burger was a little dry this time. Fries are best in town. Martinis just like I like 'em. Parking is catch as catch can which can be frustrating.
We always get the steak frites here and it is delicious. The service was efficient and kind. No complaints here.
What a pleasant surprise! I don't know why we hadn't discovered this restaurant before. We had an impromptu family date and looked on Open Table for what was open right away. Good luck ensued. It is French food and atmosphere with great music playing at the perfect volume to allow conversation. Service was excellent. Not just pommes frite, but profiteroles, too! Good wine list. Really a bistro. We will be back.
First, be prepared to wait at brunch if you do not make a reservation. (Also be prepared for the dirty looks you get if you do make a reservation - Westport Cafe is TERRIFIC about honoring reservations!)
The only negative is that someone was not adept at making coffee the Sunday we were there. I had to send back two cups of coffee as they were, quite literally, FULL of grounds.
The food was fantastic, as usual. I especially recommend the "Crispy Fried Chicken". My only caveat would be to order the gravy on the side, as I did not like to co-mingling of the sausage gravy and the brioche french toast - but that's a personal preference.
Terrific spot and even better food!
The food was excellent from the chicken liver pate, beet salad, lamb chops with gnocchi, ravioli to the croissant bread pudding. The service was very attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Delicious. We enjoyed the Westport Café with another couple during Restaurant Week. I had the braised beef and my date had the hanger steak. Both were absolutely delicious. Our server was attentive, but not bothersome. I'll go back!
Food was great, and staff was nice; but we had to wait 40 minutes to be seated...even with our reservation.
First-timer who finally made it in during KC Restaurant Week. Highly recommend the Grilled Oysters, Braised Beef, and Chocolate Mousse. The signature cocktail, WC&B Clarified Milk Punch, is also a must-order.
Wonderful, authentic French Bistro in Westport. Nick, the co-owner has created a warm and unpretentious atmosphere. Being our first time here, Nick reviewed the menu with us and made suggestions. They offer an extensive happy hour with discounted appetizers and wine/beer. I highly recommend the shrimp and crab cake. My spouse had the steak and frites and I had the fish special, sea bass. Romain, the executive chef takes great pride in the innovative menu. At one point during the evening he stopped out of the kitchen to greet the patrons. We ended our meal with profiteroles and the croissant bread pudding. The desserts were large enough to share, but why should you when they are this delicious?
We went during restaurant week, ordered off RW menu for one of us and ala carte for the other.
Service was great, even though RW is often crowded and busy. We had excellent care from lovely people.
Food was just amazing: creamy onion soup and croque madame, simple but outstanding. The RW menu had pate, braised beef and banana creme brulee, all wonderful.
Interesting cocktails and wine.
Just a wonderful experience.
Had the Restaurant Week menu and was very good. Small, intimate dining area. Very friendly service. We will be back.
We went to Westport Cafe and Bar during restaurant week. A nice variety of offerings were available on the restaurant week menu. The ambience was relaxed, our service was terrific and the food was delicious. We will definitely return.
Excellent, as always!
We love Westport Cafe and Bar and their brunch has been a great find! The eggs benedict are to die for (the English muffins are the best!) and I love that you get a complimentary drink with every brunch meal.
We seriously loved everything about this place! We are already planning our next visit!
What a great way to ring in the New Year! The special menu was exceptional. Never has risotto been so creamy! Westport Cafe is our favorite, regardless of the occasion.
Fantastic meal. And can't beat a complentary drink with your brunch
Absolutely great brunch! Everything was delicious and a great value since the breakfast entrees include a drink!
