Scallops were good and the salmon needed a little rework but the wait staff came through
Local burrata and rockfish were excellent. Wine pours were a little light. Avoid the key lime pie dessert. Great al fresco dining if you don't mind the sirens. Service was excellent.
The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. Easter Sunday Brunch was exceptional, although expensive at $105 per adult, plus an additional $20 for a Mimosa. I highly recomend this restaurant.
Wonderful place to enjoy great food along with concerned service and pleasant ambiance. I must say I miss the incredibly Tuna Cappacio that use to be on the menu maybe they’ll consider bringing it back.
Fantastic food AND outstanding service. Seldom is a “Hotel restaurant” this good. Worth returning to.
I love Westend’s booths. They provide the necessary privacy for either a business or personal conversation this is a “go to” spot for me.
Great spot to eat
Lunch and brunch menus are good. Dinner menu not so much.
Disappointing that restaurant had no record of reservation and failed to seat me with guest, who arrived earlier. Person at front desk made no effort to connect names.
Westend Bistro consistently delivers excellent service and great food presentation and taste! It's a delight to come to our nation's capital and know there will be a warm welcome with wonderful food.
The meal was very good, server Ben was attentive and sweet. The meal was a bit pricey and $8 tea was outrageous if it had been good but it was awful. Was too jet lagged to complain. Don’t order the tea!!
Service was very slow. Meals weren’t all hit when brought to table
Absolutely wonderful service. Food (parsnip soup, fries, grilled chicken sandwich) was great. They even packed a small bottle of ketchup in my doggie bag. I just loved this place
We would have preferred a few more menu choices. We especially miss the shrimp and grits.
Good menu in a convenient location.
Comfortable all the way around, enjoyable atmosphere. From the host to the table, great service. Great looking bar. We'll be back !
Really enjoyed this Bistro within the Ritz-Carleton. Benjamin our waiter was very accommodating and enjoyable. Food was delicious. The salmon was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The Lamb was also well prepared and presented. Music was just the right level and did not interfere with conversation. Dessert was less fulfilling - although Bailey's Irish cream ice cream sounded great, there was little flavor to it. Great spot to go to prior to a Kennedy center performance. I will be back!
This restaurant was amazing and the staff was great. The food came out right on time and looked great. This is definitely on my list as one of my top 5 places to eat in the city.
Romantic ambiance in a quiet, lowkey setting. This restaurant is not for the faint of heart. Located inside the Ritz Carlton, Westend Bistro provides an upscale dining experience with impeccable, breathtaking dishes. It was obvious the chefs enjoy their jobs as every plate was thoughtful, beautifully crafted, and seasoned to perfection with unique tastes. I can confidently say I’ve never tasted anything quite like what I ate at Westend. Everything was so different, yet yummy. I cleaned my plate every single course. Their New Year’s Eve four course special was amazing, I felt like I was on a Food Network competition with the quality of the dishes I received. My only complaint is that I wish they offered four course specials year round like their New Year one.
On our first visit to the Ritz-Carlton, D.C., we enjoyed the prix fixe New Year's Eve menu. The meal consisted of four courses beginning with a refreshing organic winter green salad and a full-bodied roasted chestnut soup. This was followed by a perfectly seared scallop with a pear and butternut combo topped lightly with caviar. The main entrée was a delectable filet mignon and Maine lobster dish accompanied with foraged mushrooms, a bed of silky smooth heirloom fingerling mashed potatoes, and red wine jus.
For dessert, we indulged in a decadent chocolate pomegranate parfait with a chocolate sabayon drizzle melted over a white chocolate dome. Quite the presentation.
All in all, the food portions were perfect, the fare was delicious, and the service was 100%.
Kudos to both chefs Dela Cruz and Quinn and greatest of thanks to our topnotch server Dennis.
The accommodations made by all staff including the restaurant manager, Zachary were impeccable.
Thank you for a wonderful evening and making this a night to remember, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ritz and will surely be back.
My friends and I dined here for New Year’s eve and discovered it was prix fixe. The selections were great and I liked the simplicity of the menu. The food was excellent, and so was the service. We wished we were in a better location as far as seating but now I know which table to request the next time I visit!
Slightly underwhelming. Did not match the vibe and sophistication of the rest of the hotel. Food was good but could have been better for the price. However the service was excellent. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive, especially our server (I think his name was Troy)
How is it possible to botch a green salad? My starter was a handful of wilted standard greens and packaged kale with weird cream and a tasteless dressing. Just awful. My vegetarian main course of rice and cauliflower was pretty much all rice. Mushy/over cooked. Portion was tiny - more like an appetizer. If you are going to have a fancy open kitchen and the pretense of chefs the food should be better than a diner! Parking was $30. We self parked - apparently valet is validated but self park was not. No way to know that so we got stuck with that too. At the ritz, there is no excuse! Of course waiters lovely and room very nice. But food absolutely shameful.
Used to be good food. I had lunch twice over the past 2 months and both time food was poor- burger made from old, smelly meat and a sad chicken salad.
Great ambiance, attentive service, great wine selection, and fantastic food. You cannot ask for more. Highly recommend halibut and foie gras.
We had wonderful service and an excellent meal. It was not noisy and we could talk without having to yell. Very nice.
I made the OpenTable reservation for a large group that I was hosting. When I called to confirm and discuss special arrangements, the general manager handled my call, met with me prrsonally, and checked on all the arrangements. The food and service were wonderful and my guests were relaxed and happy. Though this was my first experience with Westend Bistro, Zach and his team made me feel like I was a long-time and valued customer. Thank you!
Special thanks to Chef Tyler for making this recent experience the most memorable. See you again soon!
First class and will accommodate any special request....Vegetarian, gluten free, etc.
This was my fav restaurant in the west End, but I’m not a fan of the new menu in terms of selection or taste. Calamari was fishy, burger was over cooked (don’t waste your time with the bone marrow option). The only highlight was side salad with peppers and watermelon radishes. Companions largely were in agreement.
Was expecting a Ritz Carlton level of service, fineness and food. What we got was all okay other than the mocktail that was not drinkable due to the intensity of the ginger.
Hostess was very friendly and seated us at a window booth - prime location and not to mention great people watching. We were told the new Fall Menu had just been released and let me tell you Chef Alvin didn’t disappoint!
We started with the Baked Goat Cheese and the Charcuterie Plate. I’ve never met a charcuterie plate I didn’t like but the real winner was the Baked Goat Cheese...I can’t even begin to describe, it’s the perfect fall starter paired with a nice glass of wine! We then ordered entrees...I ordered the Pork Chop and my boyfriend ordered the Ribeye. Both were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The pork chop came with heirloom mixed beans - I’m not much of a beans fan so we also ordered a side of the brussels sprouts and bone marrow mashed potatoes just in case. The beans ended up being better than anticipated, and they mixed in some bacon pieces so who can complain! The brussels sprouts also had some bacon pieces which was a nice surprise - I could have eaten the whole thing myself - a must order for the table! The Ribeye was cooked perfectly (medium rare, as requested) and paired perfectly with the celery root purée (don’t tell my boyfriend that’s what he ate).
As mentioned, our table was great for people watching, but little did we know so many people we knew would see us! So we ended up having a few party crashers join us at various points throughout the evening and our Server was beyond accommodating - bringing extra wine glasses and setups, and barring with us through a longer than anticipated dinner service, he was excellent! I believe his name was Sean.
Zach (Restaurant Manager) and Ryan (Sommelier) were very friendly and helped us make all of our selections throughout the evening. I’m a big “What do you recommend?” orderer so they didn’t not disappoint. Highly recommend their recommendations!
All in all, one of the best date nights I’ve had in awhile - amazing food and wonderful service!
Thank you Westend Bistro!
I called and requested they have filet mignon on the menu becasue it was my daughter's birthday and they made it happen
The recommended short ribs, which I've had before, were so dry I had a hard time pretending it was good and couldn't finish. Appetizer was good.
Very straightforward and well-done lunch menu. Quiet & great for conversation. Getting a refill could have come quicker (it took until after check arrived) but otherwise no complaints.
Very good food and excellent service. Good wine selection. The patio is a bit noisy due to traffic, but on a nice night, worth the periodic horns and sirens. I would eat here again.
Fabulous meal, terrific service. We were delighted.
An enjoyable place for Sunday brunch. The service was find, food was good, and the patio is quiet with no ugly piped in music.
Both meals came out cold. Food was poorly seasoned. Server was rude and pointed at our table and laughed at us with hostess. Will never go back.
Super quiet early in the evening. Order the Truffle Frites!
This is an amazing restaurant with great food!!!!! Raul was our waiter and his service was exsquisite!! We really enjoyed celebrating my friend's birthday and she had an amazing time that she will never forget. We will never forget our visit and look greatly to our next visit.
