Westend Bistro DC Ratings and Reviews
I made the OpenTable reservation for a large group that I was hosting. When I called to confirm and discuss special arrangements, the general manager handled my call, met with me prrsonally, and checked on all the arrangements. The food and service were wonderful and my guests were relaxed and happy. Though this was my first experience with Westend Bistro, Zach and his team made me feel like I was a long-time and valued customer. Thank you!
This was my fav restaurant in the west End, but I’m not a fan of the new menu in terms of selection or taste. Calamari was fishy, burger was over cooked (don’t waste your time with the bone marrow option). The only highlight was side salad with peppers and watermelon radishes. Companions largely were in agreement.
Hostess was very friendly and seated us at a window booth - prime location and not to mention great people watching. We were told the new Fall Menu had just been released and let me tell you Chef Alvin didn’t disappoint!
We started with the Baked Goat Cheese and the Charcuterie Plate. I’ve never met a charcuterie plate I didn’t like but the real winner was the Baked Goat Cheese...I can’t even begin to describe, it’s the perfect fall starter paired with a nice glass of wine! We then ordered entrees...I ordered the Pork Chop and my boyfriend ordered the Ribeye. Both were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The pork chop came with heirloom mixed beans - I’m not much of a beans fan so we also ordered a side of the brussels sprouts and bone marrow mashed potatoes just in case. The beans ended up being better than anticipated, and they mixed in some bacon pieces so who can complain! The brussels sprouts also had some bacon pieces which was a nice surprise - I could have eaten the whole thing myself - a must order for the table! The Ribeye was cooked perfectly (medium rare, as requested) and paired perfectly with the celery root purée (don’t tell my boyfriend that’s what he ate).
As mentioned, our table was great for people watching, but little did we know so many people we knew would see us! So we ended up having a few party crashers join us at various points throughout the evening and our Server was beyond accommodating - bringing extra wine glasses and setups, and barring with us through a longer than anticipated dinner service, he was excellent! I believe his name was Sean.
Zach (Restaurant Manager) and Ryan (Sommelier) were very friendly and helped us make all of our selections throughout the evening. I’m a big “What do you recommend?” orderer so they didn’t not disappoint. Highly recommend their recommendations!
All in all, one of the best date nights I’ve had in awhile - amazing food and wonderful service!
Thank you Westend Bistro!
This is an amazing restaurant with great food!!!!! Raul was our waiter and his service was exsquisite!! We really enjoyed celebrating my friend's birthday and she had an amazing time that she will never forget. We will never forget our visit and look greatly to our next visit.
I had a business lunch at Westend Bistro. Food was a big disappointment, especially the salad which was soaked with an awful dressing. It ended up back in the kitchen after two bites.
The desert was the size of one bite. This place is overpriced for what you get. I will not be back.
We were celebrating a family birthday with brunch before a show at the Kennedy Center. The food was outstanding and the service was the best I've had in recent years. Our server went above and beyond to make our experience very special. I'd highly recommend going to this under-appreciated gem!
Just returned from having a very nice 27th Anniversary at West End Bistro.(Washington D.C.) Very nice interior. A perfect place for any occasion. From our Waiter Ben to Chef Yolanda and the kitchen staff and the waiter staff made this day all the more "SPECIAL". Our order from the appetizers of Pea Soup and The Burrata were fantastic. Our dinner choices were Lobster Gnocchi and the aged Ribeye was absolutely cooked to PERFECTION. I can't Thank the Staff and the West End Bistro Staff for their professionalism and most friendly staff I have ever encounter. We have traveled from California and will never forget our wonderful experience at West End Bistro. Congratulations West End Bistro. I highly recommend this place to everyone.
Last Easter (2016) we went out of town and I spent 2 months trying to find the perfect place to take a rather large group to brunch. I scoured every rating site, blog and any other opinion i could find on line and among people I know from Philly. The availability of good information left me grasping and fortunately I guessed at a place that turned out to be decent (but I have to imagine there were much better options i just couldn't find). It led me to take my reviews more seriously since I eat out a lot and appreciate good info from other frequent diners. I worked hard to find a great place for Easter Brunch this year in my hometown, and hit the jackpot with Westend Bistro. There was so much food of every variety (tremendous salad bar, carving stations, raw bar, belgian waffles and omelets made to order) that we couldn't get to everything we wanted. The dessert tables were spectacular and the care they took in the presentation was totally impressive. The meal also came with bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary's that were really good. It was simply outstanding, as were the staff who made the experience even better. I cant say enough good things about it and as soon as they begin taking reservations for Easter 2018, I will make ours. HIGHLY recommend.
The only positive experience - our server was really nice, informative, and pleasant. In fact all those who were serving food and taking care of guests that night were very helpful and attentive. Hostess on the other hand was a total disgrace; see my reasoning below.
My wife and I went to celebrate the Valentines Day. I asked the hostess if we could grab one of the booths, but she flat out refused saying they are not available. Seemed a little rude considering three of them were empty, and staring back at me. Not only that, throughout the night, seemingly random people occupied those and other booths in the dining room. Plus there was no option to reserve a booth, so in my opinion if they are empty, they are available. Anyway, it was the way she turned down my request that didn't sit well with me. Meal options were from a prefix menu that consisted of below average beat salad, luke warm butternut squash soup, a plate of mini appetizers to share, bland duck with figs and sauce I couldn't make sense of. Saving grace at the end was chocolate decadence buffet that had some good offerings - hence 3 stars; would've been one otherwise. Ended up shelling $260 for this! Completely ruined what was supposed to be a romantic experience. Ambiance too was below average.
I will never visit this restaurant again.
Lunch for two professional colleagues. We both ordered the Kale salad and added salmon to it. The salad was a good size for an entree salad and the piece of salmon was sizeable and cooked to perfection. And the bread was delicious. and the wait staff was professional and efficient. Definitely recommend.
We were in WDC for the Women's March and, the night before, wanted an easy, convenient choice and a restaurant to relax and get ready for the big event. We were so lucky to have booked the West End Bistro -- a 2 minute walk from our hotel. Lovely, friendly, wonderful food. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered.
Would/will return next time I'm in the neighborhood!
We made a reservation for this past Monday Jan 2 and when we got there, they were closed. They never opened. They failed to block their open table system. We called to let them know this and it took them 3 days to get back to us. Not great customer service. Normally good but not this time.
