West Side Grill - Gilroy Ratings and Reviews
We dined here for our 35th wedding anniversary, they did not stand up to our first visit, which was disappointing. The order was partially missed, and the waitress seemed to be annoyed that we were a party of 2, while all of her other tables were 4, 6 or 8 customers. She did compensate for missing our appetizer by comping the dessert, that was very nice. The restaurant manager made his way through the place speaking to every guest, but skipped our table, this too was disappointing, as it seemed like it was a friendly gesture. The Food was just OK this time, not as tasty as our first visit, but it was good enough to try a third visit before writing this place off.
We enjoyed a nice dinner for our family of three. Food was very very good - the filet was perfect. The prime rib was seasoned amazingly, but it could have been more tender. But great flavor. Salads were very good, obviously local and very fresh produce. Nice selection of wines, too.
We had a birthday lunch here over the long President's weekend. The location is on the ground floor of a small office complex. The interior was more like a cafe. I had the crab salad which was excellent with fresh lump crab. The portions were generous. My companions had the hamburgers that was well prepared. Nice place with beautiful view of the hillside neighborhood.
Our server was excellent. And most of the food was delicious. However the $45 22 ounce ribeye we ordered was Raw, despite asking for medium. While we did say we were in a hurry and please bring out the as soon as possible, it does not mean we wanted raw steak.
Always a pleasure visiting WG. It feels like "Cheers" whenever I walk in, and I always feel at comfortable when I'm there. A couple of my favorite dishes are the Salmon and the Herb Encrusted Chicken, but you can't go wrong with whatever you order. I highly recommend this place!
We got there early and had a short wait (not a problem), but were pleasantly greeted and then seated. 2 of us had scallops that were really delicious, served with double vegetables instead of garlic mashed potatoes. Rest of meal was predictable but not noteworthy. Place was full, but even with a party of 10 in the back room where we were, we could hear to converse. Yes, we'll be back.
this is a great place to eat seafood or steak the wine list is good as well
the cost is a little pricey on some things the service is just OK and you can go casual at last minute and still blend in. the sports bar opens to the restaurant so on game night can get load
one of my favorite places for pan sered scallops when I'm in the area
We love going to the West side Grill. This time friends sent us a gift card to the Grill, they live in North Carolina , so they called and paid for a gift card to held for us. So for our Anniversary we decided to go over and have a nice dinner, we did but when we asked about the gift card, no one new anything about it. Went home called our friends and asked them. They called West side Grill and was told just to have us come back in and the card would be there. I came back the next day, talked to the Manager who didn't seem to know anything. So I got back on my phone and called My fiends again. They said the card was for $100.00. The manager then gave me a gift card for that amount. I'll go back to eat there but I would never buy a gift card. So much for a 47 year Anniversary dinner.
We had a excellent dinner on Christmas Eve at the Westside Grill. It was very crowded at we had to wait a bit for our reserved table for 7. Our server was quite good even under difficult conditions. The food was excellent. The restaurant was very loud though.
We had a 6:15 reservation, but weren't seated till after 7. Our server, Brian, was great and the food was very good. Prices were probably comparable to other higher end grills. Would have given a higher rating if we hadn't had to wait so long before being seated.
It was my first time to visit the West Side Grill. One of our party had very restrictive dietary restrictions. The waiter and chef worked together to provide a well-plated alternative to the normal menu. The rest of our party was very pleased with the specials for the evening. It was especially nice when we brought our own wine and paid the corkage fee, a decanter was provided for our table and the waiter kept an eye on the time for the wine to breath sufficiently before serving. Steaks were cooked perfectly.
Got to the Grill right on time 6:00. Was told it would be just a minute, but really 15 minutes later, the young lady in the orange skirt that was sooo tight you could see the string under ware said she would seat us. She walked over to the booth by the door, which 15 minutes ago had no one in it, and said she wanted us here. I said no. And said since see kept us waiting 15 minutes I would wait five more , just so we could be seated three booths down. I understand the Grill was short handed, but there wasn't that many people in the Grill at that time and we did have reservations. Me love most of the serves people who work at the Grill, but this young lady needs to step it up a little. Never saw her before, so I think she must be learning. Let's hope so.
