Sean and Ian were the 2 bartenders and they were the best for Friday nite karaoke, now the place is dead, no one comes in!!!! PLEASE BRING SEAN and IAN back or we will not come in anymore!!!
WPT is a good place to go to grab a quick bite to eat. The service and the food is consistently good.
All three of us were quite pleased with the fare: a Reuben that was wonderful, a burger that was very well prepared and a chicken salad that was fresh and taste. Our server was very attentive. We were very pleased with our dining experience.
The West Park Tavern is a reliable "Go To" neighborhood restaurant. There is nothing particularly creative on the menu and it offers a fairly standard "bar food" selection. That said, I have still been pleased with everything I have ever ordered. Their salads are plentiful to which I have added salmon that was quite good and cooked to my specification (rare). Others whom I have dined with have also been happy with their selections. It's by no means a fancy place, but has a pleasant atmosphere. The bar area looks inviting, although I have never dined or socialized in it. The service has always been excellent, the prices are very reasonable, and the food, consistently good. Best of all, it is in my neighborhood. The West Park Tavern has yet to disappoint me.
Rose was a terrific server
Good overall dining experience with good customer service. Promptly seated upon arrival.
Met friend for a quick lunch. Its a nicely designed sports bar with a lot of charm. Outside seating too and plenty of parking in shopping center lot. My friend's mom recommend the rueban sandwhich...it was huge and she commented delicious! I had the spicy 10 oz burger with side of fried pickles. Burger was great, although I had to remove a few jalapeños...too hot. I loved their frickles (fried pickles ) too!
We usually have good luck at WPT, but not on this occasion. While our server was new to the position, he tried his best to provide good service. Unfortunately, he mad an error on the order which really put a damper on the evening. My son received my burger on his bun and with his fixings while my hamburger was very, very rare and not what I ordered. So, I had to wait for them to prepare another burger. By the time it arrived, I had eaten my side and my family had already finished their meal. The burger was good - but it would have been nice to have it arrive with the rest of my meal. They charged us half-price for my entree which was a nice gesture but it was difficult to recover after the mistake that was made. Not sure we will be back..........
It was 95 degrees outside and after we ordered our dinner and received our drinks and appetizers we asked the waitress why the restaurant was so warm. The waitress then told us the air conditioning unit was out and they weren't sure when it would be fixed. I would have expected that they would have told us this prior to seating us. It ruined a rare night out with friends. Food was probably good but we were too hot to enjoy it
Second visit on a Wednesday, and again it was uncomfortably warm inside. We went for the Trivia and this seemed to be a poor man's version of the way it is run at other pubs using torn paper. The MC seemed to rush through it, not leaving time for the teams to talk amongst themselves and actually enjoy the experience and time together. Been there on Saturday nights, and it is better.
We have always been served consistently good food at WPT until this particular occasion. We will chalk it up to an off night. French fries were over-cooked with a very skimpy portion of chicken tenders. Cole slaw was blah. My guest's salad that was just so-so. We will give them another try and hope for better fare.
Having recently moved to the Cary/Morrisville area from Boston, I've been trying to find good restaurants without having to drive into Raleigh. WPT has become part of the rotation for my family. The pub burgers, although pricy for the area at ~$13, are really good. The beer selection is decent. It's a good spot to catch a game with friends or dine out with the family. Being able to make a quick reservation via Opentable is key.
We dine here regularly and find that they deliver good food and service at a reasonable price point on a consistent basis. Great "neighborhood" kind of place.
I've been several times and usually have a great experience. This particular day was a disappointment. The draft beer wasn't cold. Everyone in our group had a different beer and all of them complained of the temperature of the beer, especially notable on such a hot day. The restaurant itself was also uncomfortably warm.
Food is is usually great but this time I tried something new, the French dip. Roast beef was tough, well done and sliced way too thick. Won't order that one again. The onion rings were awesome.
Glad I gave this place a second chance. Ate there shortly after they opened the food was good but the service was terrible. Extremely slow (even thought it was not crowded) and rude. Made no apologies for slow service and no manager came over to offer compensation for our long wait. However, the place continued to get positive reviews so, I gave it another shot and they have vastly improved. The service was quicker, despite the fact that they where very busy, and polite. The food, which was never a problem anyway, continues to be good. They have definitely gotten over any growing pains. The only drawback is their limited draft beer selection. Considering other restaurant in the area carry a much better and wider selection of brews they could stand to improve on this area.
The West Park Tavern is located close to where I live and very convenient for lunch or an informal dinner . Lucky for me, it serves up better than average food as well as a lively, friendly atmosphere. The fairly typical bar-food has been consistently good and the prices are quite reasonable. My personal favorite is their healthy portion of salmon served rare, as requested. It is deliciously marinated and has never tasted fishy. The atmosphere is not one for a romantic date. TVs are on all over the restaurant, the bar is bustling and families and larger parties are welcome. The service has always been very good and the waitstaff eager to please.
Beers listed on menu weren't available. Beer listed as "bottled" was served to table in a can with no glass. I think the waitress may have been new. After tasting the beer I requested another, it did not taste right. Manager started arguing with me that it couldn't taste bad because the beer doesn't touch the can. The beer I drink all the time just didn't taste right. He finally brought me a different beer. Then had a kind of condescending attitude the rest of the time we were there.
Overall we come here once a month for their trivia contest. We made a reservation but upon arrival were told a previous party was still at our table. It was corrected but the hostess and manager could have handled this differently. The orders for dinner were not right and it took several times to correct the issues. The trivia experience was great but the other issues diminished the rating. This is not the first time we have had problems with orders being wrong or problems being seated.
Our second time here in two weeks. And we hardly ever repeat that quickly. The first time, we had the chicken wings. Very tasty, maybe a little spicy for my wife but as I am from Buffalo I enjoyed them.
This time, we decided to try the burgers we saw on other tables the first time. Both my wife and I thought they were delicious. Cooked just right, the right level of juiciness and a good flavor throughout. And they are pretty big as well. This has the potential of being our new favorite burger place.
Nothing about this place stood out to me....it was the typical food you would find in this style restaurant. I wanted to like this new tavern; it is close to where I live. I'd pass on a second adventure to this tavern.
West Park Tavern is a great local place to grab lunch or dinner. They accommodated our large groups very easily. The wings are not for the faint of heart. Hot means HOT! But they are very good! My favorite is the Chicken Quesadilla, fresh and delicious!
Actually only booked for two & showed up w a guest. No problem for them, we didn't even wait despite offering. Super nice and everything hand made. We had burgers and the nachos w pulled pork added. Seemed like fewer chips than last time but had right amount for the qty of toppings -always piled high and no soggy chips at the bottom either. Had beers and had a vendor let us try some new beers too. Friendly atmosphere and good service.
I went for dinner with my husband and four kids. The fried pork rolls were awesome! My husband had ribs and they were very good. Great beer selection. Prices were reasonable. We will go again
We enjoyed burgers and the Southwest salad here on Father's Day. We at inside, but I believe they did have outdoor tables as well. There was no wait, and the food was very good. We'll be back!
Great to have a nice local place in Cary that has both great food and great service plus a nice list of draft brew beers!
Met some friends there after work and had personable bartenders take good care of us. The menu had a lot of BBQ type items but they were very interesting and unique treatments or combinations that I want to try when I come back.
I enjoyed my meal. The burger was great. My chips were nicely crisp but could have had more salt. The tavern was much smaller than I thought it would be when making my reservation.
They have a great bean burger and the Mac and cheese is fantastic. It can be loud and annoying on trivia nights unless you are in the mood to play.
I'm big for burgers and all I can say is that I will keep on coming back until I have tried all their burgers (I have tried 3 different burgers so far, and all of them are 5/5 so far)
Tried the place out with some friends and our families overall we loved the menu and the food was very tasty. The service was not great it that the server didn't really understand the menu. We had some challenges getting what we asked for as well and it made for a rather chaotic dining experience. We will probably try it again sometime and hopefully the service will be better.
West Park Tavern continues to provide very good food at very good prices with good service. Black & Blue burger with onion straws was very good. The GBLT sandwich and flatbread are consistent winners. Selection of draft beer is really quite good. Just nothing to compare to this local pub with great food.
New to town and looking for a good neighborhood beer and food place. Bacon bruschetta was very well done, and in general I got the impression that if WPT isn't chef run, they at least have a chef somehow involved. Very pleased about the food quality and beer list.
West Park Tavern in Cary is one of my favorites for food, drinks, and meeting friends! The staff are friendly and we love that the owners are there helping out. They have daily specials and a great e-mailed newsletter. TRIVIA night with Mario on Wednesdays is our favorite day to go! Go check it out!
The food, service, were great. However, we were there on a Friday night and there were a lot of noisey kids not controlled by parents.
We enjoued ourselves. I especially liked the ability to reserve a table. We will be back.
Go for the great selection of local draft beers and stay for the excellent food. Portions are BIG, prices are affordable, and the taste is excellent. Staff is friendly and attentive, also very knowledgeable about the menu and local beers. This is a must go to place if you are in the area.
We came here for a school function and we really loved the food and beer selection. Plus with options for the kids you can't go wrong. But when we went it was so hot in the back of the dining room we almost left. The server tried her best to work with us and bring the heatdown a bit but sadly it persisted. This is a great spot that we may try again but sit closer to the front of the dining room and avoid the back.
Had coupon so gave it a try on a Friday night. Very good beer prices, actually best in the area, $2 PBR and another brand, $3.25 domestic bottles. My wife and I shared the onion rings and we each had a wedge salad. The food was good. Portion sizes are large. My wife and I could have almost stopped at the onion rings and beer, and we could easily have split a wedge salad no problem. There was a range of customer ages - lots of middle aged and several families with young children. Seating at the bar was filled, so this is always a good sign in my opinion. They had live entertainment scheduled for 9pm, but we didn't stay around long enough. All in all a good dinner out. Would go there again, but maybe we would skip the appetizer next time.
Four of us dined at West Park on a Sunday evening - first visit for all of us. We found the portions quite substantial and the food delicious, but not fancy - just what we wanted. While everyone enjoyed his or her food, the wahoo tacos got the most raves. It's a casual sports bar/neighborhood tavern atmosphere.
This place was surprisingly good and the food a lot better than I expected it to be. The staff was awesome and stayed on top of everything. They are about 30 minutes away from where I live, but its definitely a place that will visit again. The prices were reasonable and it was a great place for a Valentine's Day date.
Out visit was a casual family birthday with a party of 10, including a 4 and 2 year old. Everyone had fun. Food was tasty and good value. Great selection of draft beers. Our server was awesome. We will be back.
