The salad that 2 of us had was too small. Same price as the sandwiches, but a third of the value.
Love the ambiance and the food and service... we sat close to the door and it was really cold... they would another Temperatur Barriere
Enjoyed the food. Service was fabulous
We went for the happy hour menu and everything was absolutely delicious!
Had a fantastic evening celebrating a milestone birthday. Service was excellent -- we were greeted with "Happy birthday" when we arrived, then our server brought us champagne and, for dessert, remembered candles on our brownie. Food was delicious -- prawns chinois were amazing. Lamb shank & sablefish also excellent. Glad we discovered this gem!
Overall our dine out experience was great! The sable fish was one of the better ones I’ve had. Our server was attentive and friendly. We never felt rushed despite it being a very busy night.
My only complaints weee that it was quite loud which made it difficult for group conversation. It was also very crowded so our chairs would get bumped every few minutes.
I would definitely come back and recommend it to others!
Great food, great service, very enjoyable night to celebrate a girlfriends birthday. We didn’t want to leave!
Waitress went above and beyond by asking me if I want extra berry compote for my gelato because she saw me stealing some off my boyfriend’s dessert ☺️
Amazing as usual.... your servers are some of the best
And the cookies..WOW
I went for a dine out with my boyfriend. Unfortunately, the value of money for this deal was very poor. It’s pretty much going with their regular menu prices. Good atmosphere, great service, however , I would only rate it 3.6/5 in general
Good & friendly waiter, awesome food for brunch!
We will definitely go for a nice evening dinner.
Great service. The appetizer and entree were delicious but the dessert was rather simple and the sauce overpowered the panna cotta - it might as well have been plain panna cotta instead of vanilla bean. We were seated directly across from the bar with the large tv screens which detracted from the date night ambience we were hoping for. Lounge music played loudly l while the area where we sat had a sports bar feel. Felt like the place was trying to be an upscale restaurant, lounge, and sports bar all at the same time which was a little bit too much for our quiet evening out.
The food was great, as well as the decor and ambience. Would go again in a heartbeat.
I go to West Oak rather often as I work few blocks away. Their services are usually good, but this day, the four of us went for lunch and had to wait 45 minutes for our food. The tables who were next to us sat down after us, had their lunch and left before we were served. :(
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was outstanding
My girlfriend and I went to West Oak to try out their dine out offering recently. We had a reservation and were seated quickly as the restaurant was not busy when we arrived.
Our waiter came by quickly with menus and explained politely that both their regular menu and dine out options were available for the evening.
My girlfriend and I both decided to choose from the Dine Out choices. For starters we chose the Chinois Prawns and the Quinoa and Kabocha squash salad. The prawns were delicious with the home made spicy aioli sauce sprinkled with some candied walnut and sliced green onion - would definitely order them again. The salad came out as a large portion and the two of us couldn't quite finish it all - it was tasty, with ample quinoa, kabocha squash and goat cheese.
For entrees, we ordered the Sablefish and the braised lamb shank. Both were cooked perfectly although I would have liked the lamb served at a tad higher temperature - it might have sat a few minutes while the Sablefish was being cooked. The sablefish was of a beautiful texture and like good sablefish buttery and melt in your mouth. There were ample portions of sides served with the two entrees and both the ginger wild rice (sablefish) and sweet potato mash (lamb shank) were tasty. The portions overall were substantial and the food delicious.
For dessert we both ordered the panna cotta which came with a lovely cranberry compote. I really enjoyed the transition in flavours between the compote and the panna cotta.
We had both ordered wine with our meals and enjoyed glasses of white and red wine. We'd like to see a slightly larger wine by the glass selection and some more BC wine offerings.
Our server was polite and timed his visits to the table perfectly, our glasses of water were filled promptly and the timing between serving of food was ideal!
Other than that we look forward to returning to West Oak for another lovely meal.
Went here for dine out it was absolutely delicious!
so great to be there wether for brunch or dinner. Lobster Benedict from Brunch Menu is absolutely my fav.
Came here for our Wedding Anniversary. The staff was extremely warm and welcoming. They even provided us with a glass of complimentary champagne which was also very nice of them.
Went for dine out Vancouver 2019. Appies were good but mains not as much. Risotto dish was small. Def not what I was expecting and the lamb dish was bigger. What’s with that? 6.5/10
Service was amazing, we had very attentive, thoughtful, and interactive waitress. Food quality is great as well! Some sauce pairings for dishes were a bit too overpowering in flavour or a bit too sour for some (but easily solved with either avoiding the sauce or using less of it), but overall the dining experience was great!
Date found a hair in his food and the waiter, instead of apologizing or doing something to rectify the situation blamed us by saying the hair was mine that fell in his food. Then ordered a glass of wine and the bottom of the wine glass was dirty so he just brought a new one. Nothing was done to make the situation better... horrible customer service, would not return.
One of my favourite Go To rests. Great vibe in the heart of Yaletown. Had the spicy prawn appetizer and it’s a hit. Generous portions. Wine list is extensive.
Waited 2 hours for food
food was amazing and the ambiance was cozy and lively but our server was terrible. Once we said we were not ordering any drinks and we would just have water his attitude towards us turned sour. He was no longer friendly and he was disorganized. it was my birthday and my friends had secretly asked him to bring a dessert and he made it very obvious by putting spoons on the table before he brought out a cake. he also put the cake infront of my other friend and said happy birthday to her. Overall he wasn’t great but the food was awesome so i’d go again.
Great service and excellent food presentation ! Our server was amazing ! We had the steak and eggs dish for brunch it was delicious !
Great service and our food was delicious and creatively presented. We were delighted to bring in the new year at this restaurant.
Everything was good but table was draughty whenever door was opened
our reservation included a request for a round table and we got one. It made our special dinner even more special - thank you! Service was superb - our server was knowledgeable and helpful with food and drinks items. Didn't feel rushed at any time, and those cookies ..... superb! Thanks for a great evening - we will be back for sure!
Seated on patio, under cover and with heater. Obnoxiously loud group came in thankfully we were almost finished and leaving. Too bad as the food was really good.
Great service by our waiter, seafood was excellent, happy hour apples offer good value for the dollar. While it was an expensive night out for us as it added up with drinks, wine, applies, salad and our entrees, we really enjoyed the evening there would recommend it for a casual evening of apples and a couple of drinks or special occasion.
Everything was perfect from the vibe to the amazing food and exceptional service
Chose West Oak for a special lunch to celebrate the Holiday season with 2 close friends. We all enjoyed our meals, ambiance and the service! Left with smiles on our faces! Will be back in the new year! 🎄🎊
Amazing food, service and atmosphere as always! Highly recommend west oak
Great food, great service - way too loud
It was a great experience. We went as a group of six for a birthday dinner. The food was great, service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. It can get really noisy in that small dining area but I would definetly go back.
Food was fantastic and the service was exceedingly beyond expectations! Outstanding!
We have been to West Oak several times since we "discovered" it and have never been disappointed. It is an attractive modern bistro nestled among the larger places on Mainland in Yaletown, though big enough to seat large groups and has a dining patio. We find the service friendly and professional and would only suggest making a reservation (the website automatically links you to OpenTable) to avoid the squish waiting at the front desk inside in bad weather. The food is tasty and well-prepared - creative enough to keep us interested and a menu not so wide that it is impossible to get a feeling for their cuisine. The prices are moderate, so have that bottle of wine (a good list!) and for sure have that cookie dessert, oh my goodness!!
We made a reservation over a month in advance and were seated on the patio. We were told that no blankets were available and diners have been taking them. 8 of 10 of us had food arrive at around the same time, the others had to wait for a long time. The restaurant was very loud and the food was mediocre. Our server was fantastic, very personable and responsive.
Our serve was amazing, went there with my boyfriend to celebrate our 3 years together and they made it special by greeting us with champagne and ending the evening with freshly baked cookies.
Highly recommended and the food was amazing.
