I think they transposed the cooking preference orders. I ordered the venison medium and my friend ordered his steak medium raw. My venison was closer to what he ordered and his steak was closer to what I ordered. I was ok with mine but I had recommended the place, so I was disappointed that the it looked like I oversold the place

I've always loved the West End Cafe and the meals are usually very good but we were very disappointed this visit. The chicken panini my son ordered was dry and my grilled cheese was so soggy the texture of the bread resembled mushy baby food.

This is my third and last time at this restaurant. I’ve enjoyed it in the past. This time, despite my reservation, I waited 20 minutes for a table; not a tragedy. Then when I got to my table and sat down, the seat was soaking wet, as was I at this point. The busboy took the chair and dried it; again, not a tragedy. However, I ordered a drink that I have been having for more than 20 years. Sometimes it’s better than others, but this one clearly had what smelled like cleaning fluid in it. It smelled and tasted horrible. For the first time in my life, I sent a drink back. The waiter rolled his eyes and shook his head as he walked away — that was my breaking point. No more West End Cafe for my wife and I.

I went to the restaurant just because and I was oh so pleased. The restaurant was a nice clean and pretty looking place & the food and service were beyond belief. I would recommend it to anyone. Fantastic.

Great varied menu. Apps we very good. Especially the wild mushroom crostini. Worst part
Of the meal was the chicken orchiette. Short rib was great and pork chops were good.

The food was both presented beautifully and tasted delicious. I wanted to try everything on the Restaurant Week Menu.
The service was professional. I didn't feel rushed.
I have found a new favorite restaurant and plan on returning.
I give it 5 stars!

I went for restaurant week with my mom. The waitress was mediocre and only checked in a few times. Up till now she didn’t introduce herself with her name. Despite this the food was delicious. I ordered arancini for an appetizer and it was very similar to an Italian style rice ball. My mom got the mushroom crostini, but it didn’t taste like mushroom at all. There was an artichoke/ tuna taste to it. We wouldn’t order it again. We both ordered shrimp risotto and it was very delicious. The shrimp were big and tasty. I really enjoyed the pecan pie it was the perfect combination of pecans and chocolate. My mom ordered the apple crisp and it wasn’t what we expected. It was not warm and was basically a deconstructed apple pie in a small bowl. This needs to be reworked. All in all our restaurant experience was good.

A real gem tucked away in a dying strip shopping center. This restaurant has been around for a long time and we are glad we finally tried it. Outstanding venue, but a little expensive.

One of our favorite restaurants with great prixe fixe. Accommodating for Gluten Free. Service is excellent. We like salmon and chicken dishes which are both creative and delicious. Dessert choices include a pistachio sundae and Belgian chocolate pecan pie. Try this place, it’s worth it.

Hidden jem in Carle Place. Would never stumble upon it. Just too bad that it is so noisy. Great meal. Will certainly be back.

We dined during Restaurant Week. It was disconcerting to see our meals carried out of the kitchen, walked around the dining room, placed on a side counter for several minutes and served to another table before our waitress caught the server to put the plates in front of us. We attempted to get the server's attention but the room was so loud, it was impossible. The two tables along side our table were laughing. How many people needed to breath and touch my food beforehand? We saw this happen with several meals that night.

The crowd was definitely much older than my boyfriend and I. MUCH older, and we’re in our mid thirties. But the vibe was very friendly. The waiter was the sweetest, and very helpful when it came to helping me decide what to order. What drew us in? Restaurant week. What will bring us back? The deliciousness on the menu! We laughed, we ate, we drank. Good times!

Food was great, but it was very loud. If you don't mind having a difficult time hearing, the food is worth it!

I requested a quiet table when I made reservation. Restaurant was very very loud, server was even louder. It was impossible to have a conversation. The bus boy took bread and bread plates away before entree arrived. We were still eating and the bus boy said, "are you done?"
We had 2 full dinners, 2 glasses of wine, and were charged for a refill of club soda.
This restaurant has changed and not in a positive way.

Dined on a week night and was fortunate to be able to sample their price fixe menu. Appetizer, main dish, and dessert were included. The food was delicious and the portions very large. The wine selection was expansive and quite good. I highly recommend this restaurant.
