This place is massively under rated. The food is delicious, really well cooked and presented. The service was fantastic, just the right level of attention. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The value is top notch. Highly recommended.
Lots of good reasonably priced dishes presented by a great staff (Clinton and Justin in particular). If you can get a seat st the bar- go. Ken is a great bartender
Sound level only high before the theatre
Neighborhood go to!
This was our first visit to West Bank Cafe--and we will definitely return on another visit to NYC! The food was excellent and the wait staff was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed our dinners there!
Classic NY pretheater dinner experience
Service was above and beyond. They even charged my iPhone for me! Food was delicious. The have a great pre-fix menu.
Its the perfect choice if you are going tone of the many theaters across the street. Delicious trout, served efficiently and pleasantly.
We had a wonderful dining experience. There were 7 of us and they gave us a table in a corner and we could actually have conversations. And the food was excellent! We left loving West Bank Cafe and will definitely go back!!!
Normal Sunday Brunch before theatre
As always, we enjoyed our lunch at West Bank. The lemon ricotta pancakes are out of this world and everything else is tasty and well presented. We love coming here before a matinee after traveling in from Connecticut.
We had a wonderful time at West Bank Café. The prix-fixe menu is a very good value. All three courses were generous portions and delicious. Our server was very good and even brought a candle for my dessert as it was my birthday.
The West Bank Cafe has been a theatre district stalwart; reliable food, excellent service, friendly. I have eaten there many times and never been disappointed. As prices rise in the area, its prices are still reasonable (not cheap) reasonable. They get you in and out as quickly as you need them to. Recommended.
Excellent quick bite. Service was excellent. Place was nice and warm and friendly.
Will come back for sure.
An excellent choice for pre theater dining in the 42nd street area. The food is well prepared, and always consistent. The wait staff will assure you make your curtain. Also a perfect spoy for a post theater dessert.
Our go-to dining for every visit from out of town to NYC theater. Outstanding dining every time. All staff are superb, but Larry is the best!
This is a regular favorite of ours. Never disappoints. The wait staff is outstanding, friendly and fun. Wonderful food, great burgers and you have to try the wild mushroom risotto!! The restaurant is small, cozy but not so you feel packed in like a sardine like some small NY restaurants. West Bank works for any occasion or just a drink at the bar. Wonderful location as well.
Very consistent!! Thanks for bringing back the lambchops
This is the ONLY restaurant for us when we're attending plays at Playwrights Horizons or Signature. Don't go anywhere else and don't miss the salmon tartare -- the best anywhere ever!
The hostess was lovely and kind. Our waiter was terrific and worked with us on what to select on the menu. The food was delicious!! Thank u.
Always great food, service and scene at West Bank Cafe.
Always a great when we visit the city. Friendly, attentive staff. Menu has great choices and reasonably priced for the city.
I was staying across the street and needed a pre-Theatre meal. The West Bank got us in quickly and out in time for our show. The service was great and the food was excellent. I’d definitely go back.
We heard about West Bank Cafe on a blog that recommended it for a great bite to eat before a show. We booked a table and the whole experience was amazing. The food was awesome and so reasonable. The waitstaff was terrific, especially with my 8 year old picky eater. We would absolutely eat here again!
Excellent food and service. I was especially impressed that my request for a quiet table (hearing disabled) was satisfied.
We ate here before our show on a Saturday. They asked if we were going to a show and what time it was. There were very conscious of getting us done in time. The food was delicious--the lamb lollipops were amazing. And all of our food was very good. Large portions (we split the caesar salad 3 ways). Would definitely go back.
Last weekend I had my second lunch there. I had made my reservations online and they were promptly honored upon our arrival. We were seated in the rear dinning area which was perfect for our desired quiet conversation. Wait service was immediate, our waitperson was knowledgeable about menu items and the food was promptly delivered. I had the pork schnitzel which was excellent and my companion had a Caesar salad which she enjoyed. We would highly recommend both and dessert was a lovely ice cream Sunday.
Do go, you will be glad you did.
Our server was beyond excellent...so attentive and very accommodating!
A great place pre theatre! They get you in and out without feeling rushed !
West Bank Cafe feels like home to us. It really is a neighborhood gem.
Good food and service. Polite staff. Wine selection okay.
I have been going to this restaurant for a very long time and have always loved their burgers. This time was not quite as good as previously, but still good. A great place to meet with theatre-loving friends.
West Bank Cafe is a solid choice for any occasion. I always love the food, the service and the ambiance!
Definitely a neighborhood gem! There’s excellent eats to be discovered at West Bank cafe!
Have been here numerous times before and after theater, for lunch and brunch and drinks. Service is usually exceptional -- friendly and prompt, not an easy thing to pull off at a pre-theater spot that is very busy. Good food and drink, nice atmosphere. A find, even after 40 years on the far west side!
Justin is the best server ever! This is a great place to have brunch, lunch or dinner before going to any of the theaters on 42nd Street. They will get you out in time to see your show, but you will not feel rushed. We have been there many times and have always been pleased.
Fabulous find in NYC and great value for brunch and the bottomless drinks.
Fantastic food and great service. Lovely choice of wines. Select menu with seasonal specials.
Really delicious and a great pace to meet friends. Quiet enough for conversation but lively enough for a good time.
Very good restaurant and perfect for pre-theater. The service is quick and attentive and the food is delicious.
A great restaurant — one of my favorite you can’t go wrong.
The menu offers a fine variety of options. I'm always happy to invite my business guest to West Bank Cafe, since I am confident you will have something good for those with eccentric dining habits.
