Everything was great for pre-theater meal. Service was quick, food was good. Nice place, a good location. Have been there many times and will return again.
this is a great place for a pre-theatre dinner. The vibe is great and it is informal and friendly. Somehow, although we arrived early our waiter forgot about us so we hurried to finish our entrees in order to get to the theatre on time. The hamburger was delicious and perfectly cooked. Some of the dishes are really too small....a lovely beet salad is very minimal as is the crab cake. Overall, though a good place for pre theatre. Need more places like this
Great service - average food
This is a restaurant that gets overwhelmed at pre-theater times. The food is decent and the convenience of being near off-broadway theaters like Playwrights Horizon is excellent. But the noise level is very high, there are too many tables in too little space. And the servers are literally running back and forth trying to keep up. For dining in the evening, I suggest that you go at 5 pm or 8 pm because anything in the middle is not relaxing.
West Bank never disappoints. My son was in town to celebrate his birthday and suggested we go to one of my favorite restaurants. It was a wonderful experience start to finish. I enjoyed a comp glass of red wine as a Signature Theater subscriber. My son ordered a Manhattan cocktail which he said was perfect. We shared the delicious calamari appetizer; I had the trout and he had the shrimp scampi. Everything was delicious. Service was attentive and the meal was timed just right.
My wife and I were in the city for a play, and the staff was very attentive. They knew we were on a time restraint, but they didn't rush us. And the food was excellent. I'm sure we'll be back.
The staff is very professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable about the menu. They also try very hard to accommodate special requests. Very enjoyable meals (lunch and dinner).
I’m not a vegetarian but I had the spaghetti squash casserole and it was delicious.
Great place for pre theater when u are in the m I’d for inexpensive
The portions are not large, but the ingredients are fresh and well presented. The Cobb Salad had an ample amount of chicken with crispy bacon and ripe avocado. The omelet special, ordered by two of the four of us, was reported to be moist and delicious. We told our server that we were going to a 2:00 matinee and he said that he would tell the kitchen. The food arrived promptly and we had plenty of time for a leisurely cup of coffee. West Bank Café is our choice whenever we are going to the theater in this area.
The food is excellent but the service left something to be desired. I had to ask the waiter three times for a water refill more than once. Also I had requested a table in the back of the restaurant and they told me it wasn't available. That had also happened once before.
