Service was not up to par. Usually it’s much better
Introduced our friends to the restaurant and they enjoyed it as well as we always do. Great place for after a show.
Convenient to theater. Great value with prix fine lunch. Excellent service and food. Definitely will return!
The West Bank is my go-to pre-theatre spot. The food is remarkably consistent and tasty, the servers adorable and enthusiastic, and they are keenly aware of your theatre start times. Plus you are likely to spot a Broadway stalwart.
The food was better than we expected it would be, with the exception of the octopus in the kale salad. It looked and tasted like it came from a jar.
Thank you for your patronage and overall notes, Brittany. I'm disappointed that you didn't like the Kale/Octopus salad because it has a broad fan base. Sounds like the kitchen prep staff should prep less in advance. I will be certain to let the chef aware of your experience. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
wonderful, as always. Gets in and out in time for our show, as always.
Thank you for your continued patronage and compliments, bxg5. Steve Olsen
Great meal! Service was excellent!
My favorite place!
Thank you for your patronage and wonderful compliment. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
Varied seasonal menu with nice range of choices. I've been enjoying meals here for (ahem) decades. Never disappoints.
Thank you for your continued patronage throughout the decades and centuries, Tourboy. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
Good after theater dinner location with straight forward food and good wine by the glass.
Thank you for your patronage and compliments, Carolyn. Steve Olsen
I love this cafe! Christopher is a fabulous waiter.
Thank you for your patronage and compliments, Lois S. I will make sure I pass along your compliment to Christopher. Steve Olsen
Glad this wasn't my first experience at the restaurant or I never would go back. Not that it was awful--it just wasn't as wonderful as previous times. Not sure why. The only person truly happy with what was ordered had the chicken. The hamburger, steak sandwiches and shrimp scampi definitely not. The service was better than the food. Will give it one more chance at redemption.
Thank you for your continued patronage and criticism, Chaya. Sometimes a restaurant experience is flat: it happens to me all the time when I dine out. I appreciate you giving us one more chance. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
As always, the service was impeccable--friendly, efficient, helpful. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. The noise level was quite high but that's to be expected on a Saturday at dinnertime. Always a pleasure to eat here!
Thank you for your continued patronage and compliments, Tanya. Steve Olsen
Reliable choice near Port Authority and theaters. Prix fixe is a good deal; decent assortment of wines by the glass reasonably priced. Only mild disappointment was a bland boulevardier cocktail. Friendly, professional service. Quality, unfussy food in generous servings. Comfortable banquette seating with good-sized tables. Once the pre-theater crowd leaves, pretty quiet.
Thank you for your patronage and review, Merriam. I appreciate and agree with your assessment (table size-no one ever comments about). Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
There is no place like this place in NYC. Go there and you are family. Steve, the owner, makes sure the neighborhood has a place to eat in Hell's Kitchen that we can all call home. Open-minded and friendly servers always make the experience nice. The food is high quality and always fresh- with a variety of seasonal specialties. The wines are delicious and the servers know what pairs well with your dish. Dining alone?- Then pull up to the bar and chat with locals about theatre. Have a Manhattan for me!
Thank you for your continued patronage and compliments, Michelle. We love you..... Steve
I am never disappointed when I am in this restaurant. We try to visit it each and every time we are in Midtown Manhattan. The menu is limited, so don't expect a lot of choices, however they do have variety, and each and every item is amazing. Finish your dinner with the Butterscotch Pudding, you will NOT be disappointed. Service is always amazing. Thank you Randy & Kimberly for an amazing time.

Thank you for your continued patronage and compliments, Susan & Steve. I will pass along your thoughts to Kimberly & Randy. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
One of our party has a very serious heart condition requiring he not eat salt. He kindly asked the waiter, could I have a plain baked potato? Emphatically the waiter said no. My husbands dish came with beautifully seasoned mashed potatoes. Surely I said there are potatoes in the kitchen. If the chef would just pop one in your microwave for him, it would be so appreciated. Our waiter refused to ask the chef. We all understood and communicated that we know the chef ordinarily would not use a microwave to do this, but our friend would be so grateful for it. Again, no.
If hospitality is the name of the game, we were disappointed by this attitude.
Thank you for your patronage and note. Your request for a baked potato was the first time that has happened in a very long time. The server certainly should have brought this request to the chef before denying your request. Feel free to call in advance the next time you are dining with us and we should be able to prepare a baked potato the right way by cooking it in the oven. I will address this matter to the service staff. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
It's always a pleasure to dine at West Bank Cafe. It feels as if we are being cared for in a generous and kind manner. The waiter was extremely helpful and careful to be sure that I had dishes without gluten or dairy! Lovely fella.
Thank you for your patronage and compliments, Annette C. Steve Olsen
Sorry my favorite lunch--open-faced steak sandwich--is no longer available, but the steak in a salad was almost as good. Of course, we will continue eating with you.
Thank you for your patronage and compliments, Laura8. The Skirt Steak Sandwich is one of my favorites, too. Steve Olsen
Would come again! And would recommend to friends....The food was delicious and the ambience was very quiet.
Thank you for your patronage and compliments, Kathy M. Steve Olsen

Great location when going to the Theater....Overall we had and enjoyable brunch
Thank you for your patronage and note, Foodie1. Steve Olsen
Always a good time at West Bank. They can get that whole restaurant fed and out in time for theatre without breaking a sweat. Food always good!
Thank you for your continued patronage and great compliment, Food Fan. We strive to put out the best food in a small kitchen in a very limited time frame, pre theater. 250-300 covers in 2 1/2 hours sometimes. All a la minute. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
we went to see a play on 42nd street, so the west side cafe was very convenient. I remember going there in the past and remembered it was quite good and a nice atmosphere. We were 4 people and we all had fish and it was delicious. The salads were all terrific as well. I tasted my friends watermelon salad and it was fabulous. we all had wine and shared cookies for dessert and coffee. SO all in all the dinner was perfect. We all agreed the food was delicious and they did not rush you. Service was quite good.
Thank you for your patronage and review, doesnotdisappoint. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
Great restaurant. We love the food and the service is terrific.
Thank you for your patronage and comments, Jagerge. Steve Olsen
First our server Randy was excellent , personable and knowledgeable. The truffle rice balls are outstanding as are the roasted artichokes. Main courses are excellent and a good size portion. We will definitely return
Thank you for ypour patronage and compliments, pammy. Steve Olsen
Our table was ready for us when we arrived. Service was terrific . Our waiter asked if we had theater tickets to make sure we were done on time. Food was good. Our entire table had the skirt steak sandwich and all but one came out as ordered. We even had time for dessert and walked right across the street to the theater . Will definitely go back again.
Thank you for your patronage and compliments, Bette G. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
One of the most dependable restaurants in the Theatre District. We took a friend for the first time and she wanted to go back for dessert after the show.
Thank you for your patronage and compliment, Emigma1100. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
Great as always
Thanks, again, Tulis. Always great to see you. Much appreciated, Steve
A dependable "go to" place in Hell's Kitchen....wish they could do some less expensive glasses of wine by the glass.
Thank you for your continued patronage and comments, Mariaprods. We try to serve the best quality wines at the best affordable price for our guests, but we will try harder in the future. Also, we pour 6 ounces of wine in every glass as opposed to most other restaurants in NYC that pour 5 ounces. Much appreciated, Steve Olsen
West Bank Cafe remains a favorite after many years of dining pleasure. The staff is attentive, efficient, and pleasant. The cuisine and service remain as outstanding as always.
Thank you for your continued patronage throughout the years, Jeanne. It's always great seeing you her, on the street and in our building, neighbor. Much appreciated, Steve
Fantastic soup to nuts... or in this case salad to butterscotch pudding.
Thank you for your patronage and compliments. Steve Olsen
Wonderful restaurant close to theater for many decades.
Thank you for your patronage throughout the years. Steve Olsen

Thank you for your continued patronage and compliment, Barry M. Steve Olsen
We will be back. Wonderful meal especially the cod special. Husband still talking about how it was the best cod he’s had in years. I had the chicken which was very good. The service was top notch and very nice atmosphere. I understand why it gets such good reviews.
Thank you for your patronage and compliments, sunflowerLinda. The roast chicken is one of our top sellers for many years, Much appreciated. Steve Olsen
